i agree with your notes at the end. We have stuff from igloo, RTIC, lifetime and now started to switch to Yeti. Huge difference since we camp a lot for 4 days or more. We can only buy ice once, nothing was holding it till we switched to Yeti. If we didn't camp we would be fine with anything else.
Looking to get one of these to upgrade my lunch box, maybe not quite that big! I have a nice yeti thermos that keeps ice frozen all day in a hot truck in hot weather that I can use to cool my self down or my drinking water as needed. Heat stroke is a real threat in my line of work. Yeti is the only brand I trust!
I find the comments funny that claim they don’t even get 24 hours out of a yeti XD. They truly don’t own one and are just hating/lying because they bought an inferior cooler.
Nice review. We've got several yeti products and they're all great. Were they cheap? Not at all, but I don't regret any of the purchases or feel I received anything subpar.
Hey David and the Explore Magazine team, would you be interested in checking out a Patriot Coolers SoftPack cooler? If so, let us know and we would be happy to collaborate!
This review sold me and I bought the cooler. I’m not sure what I did wrong but my ice was melted within 3 hours in the car. Not sure why but I tried it again and same thing. 3 hours and all the ice was melted. I was disappointed in this cooler.
It has other qualities for day trips that i find valuable, l;ike it being waterproof to go to a few beach day spots i know that you can lounge in shallow water, lash tabs i could easily stick my 1 lb helinox camping chair on, etc
I have purchased many "high end" camping and hiking items and the first thing to fail is always the zipper. If the zipper fails on the yeti will the company replace it for free?.... Considering the "high end price".
IMO - Overpriced, but it’s nice nonetheless 💸. If I were using the Yeti everyday, more than often than not, it would be a solid choice. RTIC has a similar cooler for 1/2 the price that leaves money to spend on a roto molded cooler.
I had an Rtic soft cooler for 4 years. I maybe used it one to 5 times a year average. The stitching came apart from the inside. I feel had it had heavy use, it would have lasted barely a year. Won't do that again.
@@carlose6010 ok 👍? Mine is still chugging along. No issues. I don’t use it much but when I do it’s great to have. If I had the $ I would get the yeti but I can’t afford the premium money for a name tag. I get it! Some people drive Mercedes and others have Fords. Some people huff it and others take the bus. Different strokes gif different folks.
I think more people can afford a Yeti cooler over a Lamborghini. I think the average person only needs to work 2 full business days to afford a $300 yeti cooler.
I import all types of coolers from China and Vietnam and sell them to retailers such as Costco, Walmart, etc. I can tell you that this cooler likely cost under $25.00 to produce. I have to laugh at the retail pricing of Yeti. Everyone is making a pile of dough at the expense of the consumer caught up in slick marketing. Most people don't need a cooler that will need a chunk of ice and the rest water after 24 hours. Most coolers will do what is needed of them - keep beverages cold for an afternoon outing. And, they do it and less than 10% of the cost of a "Yeti"
It's still not geared towards people who just sit in an afternoon outing. It's mostly kayaking camping outdoor freaks who need reliable gear that is waterproof and can take a beating, and that's what they are made for. It has an intended purpose where you DO need food still being cold after 24 hours or more. I speak from experience since during our last 3-day canoeing trip, we could have used something like this, not the cheap cooler we had that just managed to the next morning. It may have a heavy price but but do exactly what it's intended target audience wants it to do. But your're right in that if I (for example) wasen't so heavy invested in the outdoors that I am, I wouldn't look twice or even once at this bag for that price tag.
They have brilliant marketing. They have convinced the average consumer to spend money for something they will probably not get the intended use of. Highly doubtful Yeti would have the sales they do if only the dedicated outdoor folks bought their products.
@@Cbill1987 I didn't know you had to be from Canada to call a carabiner, a "biner"...wierdo. It's just fucking annoying that people can't say whole words anymore.

Nice review, I got this exact cooler as a 5 year service award from my employer.
i got a handshake and a thank you for 10 years with my employer!?!?

This really helped me in making my decision on buying a new cooler
Well you sold me when you said it had high end literature & stickers. Hell, I’ll probably buy 2!!!
I just bought 6 for the stickers

I got the Hopper 8, 12, 18, & the backpack cooler for kayaking and it was definitely money well spent.
Is the 18 too big for kayaking ?
@@gregoriospantos2084 I haven't took that one kayaking yet. The backpack cooler fits perfect in the back of my kayak with 30 beers & ice.

Did u prechill the cooler as it says in the paperwork. Also is the food cold when u put it in the cooler?
Super helpful review!
Great video Sir. But is it equally good for warm food?

I would had like if he had put like a couple grapes/strawberries with a frozen piece of meat in a ziplock to get a little idea but I’m loving it

I appreciate your review. Thank you.
I wonder how durable it is compared to a hard cooler? It will be exposed to water, dirt, bumps and bruises.
The shell is tough, leakproof and can flip over with nothing spilling out. The Yeti hard coolers will leak if somehow turned over.

How are the teeth on the zipper? They’re faulty eventually and it’s difficult to open or close.

Did you test the provided lube independently...
Lol hot
Yeti isn’t worth the price, if it kept stuff cold for ten days then maybe it would be worth over $400.
Did it sweat on the outside?
I want to know how well this will keep my drinks cold in a 140 degree truck. As I am a delivery driver.
Not as well as a hard cooler, but if you only need for the day, you would be just fine.
Where do you deliver, to hell?
I wouldn’t spend the money on it, my uncle had one for about 8 months and the zipper broke right off
how would the zips go with salt water on a kayak , is it plastic zips for rust proof ?
Does it float in water like the rtic soft cooler does?
Yes
Got mine new for $50 by chance 👌 at that price, it's worth it.
would be worth it if it came with a lifetime warranty
Cant compete with an Engel.
Did he say heat wave and then said it was 30 degrees 😳. I’m out here in 115 degrees in the summer...
Celsius my friend, he's from canada
Right was wondering the same thing, thanks for clearing this up.

no better than an igloo cooler
😂 it's made out of cloth🤣
