      It really doesn’t have to look like mine or anyone else’s tangling. What you draw is unique to you and that is special. It’s all about the process rather than the outcome. I hope that you are inspired to do more tangling. 😊

    Wow Jo! Your work is so beautiful, I loved what you were demonstrating at the beginning, the way it looked, the clear, gentle way you explained it and the way the picture developed. Then, at the end I was blown away! Thank you so much. You have greatly inspired me, it’s amazing what beautiful pictures you created with a fairly simple process. I can’t wait to try it!

      Oh! Thank you, Dimitra. Your comment really means a lot to me. I will, very soon, be creating a lot more short videos and offering class videos as I know that many people would like to take a class but can't make the time or date. This means that everyone, wherever they are, will be able to access a Zenjo class.
      I have, very recently, started a TikTok page @zenjozentangle and am adding regular short videos. Pop over and take a look.
      I'd love to see what you tangle.

      Zentangle HQ 웹사이트 www.zentangle.com에서 모두 사용할 수 있습니다.
      한국에는 공인 Zentangle 교사가 꽤 많이 있으며 그들은 여러분이 펜을 구하는 데도 도움을 줄 수 있을 것입니다.

    Do these paper tiles come ready cut with rounded corners or do you create them yourself?

    • @zenjozentangle
      @zenjozentangle  Год назад

      Hi,
      Zentangle HQ produce a whole range of tiles made from good quality paper. The corners of the tiles are rounded.
      You can see their tiles on their website zentangle.com/collections/paper-tiles
      I use these but will also cut my own from sheets of the Fabriano Tiepolo paper used too make the official tiles. I have a corner rounder to clip and create this softer finish.
      It is important to use the best quality materials that you can afford as this not only gives you a more rewarding creative experience, which adds value to what you create, it also gives you a greater satisfaction. Good quality watercolour paper is not too expensive.
      I hope that helps.
      Do pop me an email if you have any questions. I am happy too answer.

      You can draw Zentangle with anything but we always recommend that you use the best materials that you can afford. This gives value to what you create and therefore value to you, too.
      I generally use the materials recommended by Zentangle HQ.
      These are:
      Black Sakura Micron pens in varying sizes from 01 - 08. These have archival pigment ink and are great to use.
      We use a short length 2B pencil as this is softer for shading and the short length makes it easier to hold.
      The tortillon is a twisted paper tool that helps us blend the graphite to create soft shading. You can get these at any good art store.
      The "tiles" are original Zentangle tiles made from 100% cotton. a lovely paper surface, similar to good quality watercolour paper.
      They are all available on the Zentangle HQ website.
      If you are in the UK pop me an email info@zenjo.uk as I usually have some basic supplies and a variety of Zentangle tiles available.
      I hope that helps.
      I also teach online classes to all levels of tangler from beginner to more advanced. Maybe you might like to join me?

      I am using a 3.5"/9cm square Zentangle tile made from Fabriano Tiepolo 100% cotton paper. You can find these on www.zentangle.com.
      You can tangle on any paper but I would always recommend using the best quality you can as this gives more value to what you create and more value to that creative experience.
      I wouldn't use basic printer paper....unless that is all you have got. 🙂

      @@yaimamess1111 Hi,
      Thanks for answering.
      I have been super busy teaching so hadn't been able to reply immediately. You can see my full answer to Hilary, below.
      I haven't had much time recently to update my videos on RUclips but will be adding more soon.
      It actually does make a difference what paper you use and I would always recommend the best quality paper you can afford, such as a watercolour paper and a Zentangle original "tile", in particular, as these are lovely to draw upon.
      You can find more detailed information about the recommended Zentangle materials on the HQ website www.zentangle.com.
      I'm also happy to answer questions so just email me if you would like any information about materials or my classes.

    Why is this not just ‘doodling’ ? ?? 🤔

    • @zenjozentangle
      @zenjozentangle  Год назад

      Hi,
      This is a great question.
      the patterns created in Zentangle can sometimes resemble the drawings created when doodling.
      The very big difference is that we 'doodle' when distracted or doing something else - on the phone, in a meeting etc. doodling is done is a mindless and unfocused way.
      Zentangle, on the other hand, is created 'mindfully', where our focus is purely on drawing one line at a time. Mindfulness is very important for our well-being (as is being creative) but it can sometimes be hard, in our busy lives, to allow ourselves or be able to be 'in the moment'.
      Research has now shown that creating Zentangle is a proactive way to easily reach a mindful state. The benefits of creating Zentangle are wide ranging.
      You can find out more on the official Zentangle website www.zentangle.com
      I would also be happy to answer any other questions, just send me an email info@zenjo.uk

    What’s your point? Why? Who has so much time to waste?

    • @zenjozentangle
      @zenjozentangle  Год назад

      Hi S Majumdar,
      I'm a little confused by your questions and why you think being creative is a waste of time.
      Research shows that all people benefit hugely from being creative and this improves their overall physical, mental and emotional well-being. That, to me, is not a 'waste' of anyone's time. I assume that you may think that all art is therefore a waste of time, which is rather sad.
      Creating Zentangle art has brought a sense of joy, well-being, creativity and connection to millions of people across the world, and I am sure that they do not think it is a waste of their time.
      I'm so sorry that you feel this way and hope that you do have some creative joy in you life.
      Kind regards,
      Jo

      Actually, this kind of artwork is very calming, meditative, and frees the mind to explore new ideas as the hand is engrossed in repetitive yet creative work. Adult colouring books serve the same purpose. These are the new therapies.. try it sometime. :D

    What is the purpose of your drawing? Is it just for fun?

    • @zenjozentangle
      @zenjozentangle  Год назад +31

      Hi Jeanette,
      I'm not sure what you mean about 'what is the purpose' of my drawing. I don't believe that being creative needs a specific 'purpose' or that any artist creates for a 'purpose', other than it is a pleasure and maybe the 'purpose' is that sense of pleasure and achievement.
      I am a Certified Zentangle Teacher and I create Zentangle art for myself and I teach classes to those who are interested in being able to create their own.
      any creative activity can be so very good for our own well-being and gives a sense of achievement. Zentangle is a fun, easy to learn way to create lovely images by drawing structured patterns. Anyone can do it by drawing one stroke at a time.
      Yes, it's for fun and the joy of being creative but it can be so much more than that. It is a mindful artform that research is showing it to have a lot well-being benefits, from mental health, pain reduction when drawing, increase in self esteem, reduction in anxiety etc.
      But one of the great things about Zentangle is the wonderful world wide Zentangle community. I teach people from all over the world and many of these have made connections with the others.
      If you are interested I would suggest that you take a look at the HQ website www.zentangle.com
