    Wow, what a challenge you had when you and your lovely wife took on with that fabulous tree. When you said all that you are going to do to it, of course, I started shaking in my boots knowing how important it is to prevent root rot with the adenium. I guess you know what you are doing, and you are a very courageous man and you definitely know your stuff! Great video and I learned a lot. Thanks for sharing this video. Phil

    That tree is nothing short of AWESOME! I have 4 Adenium obesums in pots now that started last fall. I bought them off of an online vendor on Etsy. Today I ordered 2 Adenium Arabicums that should be here in about a month. Today is Tuesday, March 21, 2023, so the timing should be perfect. Great channel, guys. I learned a lot, especially about the air pockets after transplanting. 🌱🪴

      I have an Addendum collection of about 14 adeniums most Thai socco, imported from Thailand and a few arabicums and Obesum. I have loved growing plants, since I was a kid and no other plant, has been as challenge and rewarding, as growing my Adeniums. Been in this hobby now, for 4 years and have had success, once I learned their soil requirements and fertilizer, water direct sun of about 10 hours s day! Thanks again for a very. Interesting video!

    This is what we call as eight side roots or eight directions roots (八方根)
    some may like it some may not
    If this adenium doesn't went through this root decapitation, I think they will need read tall and deep flower pot to able to fit the root inside
    Now without the root, it just act like normal tree
    This method is also very useful to those that facing rotten roots and too wasteful if throw away the whole thing
    But only for those that over water but not bacteria infection or pest infection

    From other videos about the dessert rose, I thought that before repotting, the roots were really completely cleaned and pruned, the tree had to dry out, so speak, before it was repotted. Is that just for younger trees? I'll send a link to illustrate what I'm thinking of.
    BTW, I really liked the color of the round pot so much better that blue rectangular one. But maybe that is just a Northeastern perspective. As usual, beautiful work.

    • @WeareTheBonsaiSupply
      @WeareTheBonsaiSupply  3 года назад

      J Ballenger hey J, yes drying applies to desert roses at any age and stage of training. We let it dry out 1-2 weeks prior and another 1-2 weeks post repotting.

      I did hear you had learned a technique using a white powder for covering wounds from a Master teacher in Thailand. So you've no doubt have seen have seen massive Adenium socotranum and equally amazing pots for them.
      Another time, perhaps you can share your path to bonsai. Or tell me where to look.
      Lastly, can I buy your professional non-bonsai potting soil on lunch next? I can only find the bosai related products.

    You don’t use glue or latex to seal the cut of trimming. Why?
    Also, I read the desert rose can be toxic for pets. Is that true?
    I’m starting to love this kind of tree.
    Thank you, learning a lot.

    • @WeareTheBonsaiSupply
      @WeareTheBonsaiSupply  2 года назад +1

      Hi! No I don't use anything on fresh cuts, as the fresh cut surface will dry. If you cover it with latex or glue to seal a desert rose you might trap moisture and will loose the branch. On all other species of trees I would seal the fresh cuts.
