Sitting here watching this on what would have been Brendan's 82nd birthday. There was and ever will be only one Brendan Bowyer. God rest Father Murphy and God rest Brendan Bowyer.
So many memories come flooding back of Tullow and Fr. Murphy’s statue in Tullow, Co. Carlow where we had our first home, John and I met at The Royal Showband in Bray, Co.Wicklow. Brendan you were the GREATEST may your dear soul Rest in Peace we will ever forget you Pat you must be so proud to have such a talented, kind, loving Brother. MaryTobin
In the old pre-motorway days as one drove south on entering Enniscorty you could see a road sign pointing left towards.....Boolavogue. The town of Enniscorthy is an important river crossing point from Wexford. The rising of 1798 was an insurrection inspired by the Napoleonic wars and French help was expected at that time in casting off the English yoke. The song was written in 1898 by PJ McColl, on the centenary of the 1798 rebellion.
I HAD THE GREAT PRIVILEDGE OF KNOWING BRENDAN SINCE THE 60S HE WAS A FANTASTIC SINGER MUSICIAN ENTERTAINER AND A TRUE MODEST IRISH GENTLEMAN BRENDAN OCTOBER 12TH 1938 TO MAY 28TH 2020 R I P AMEN ❤
Brendan Boyer a credit to his country, what a modest person he was married 50 years ,some of the so called stars of today could do worse than to follow his example on how to live, now we know why Elvis paid homage to him in vegas.
