ABOUT Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland
Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland is based on the book Remember the Time by Bill Whitfield and Javon Beard, Michael Jackson’s trusted bodyguards. Told through their eyes, the movie reveals firsthand the devotion Michael had to his children, and the hidden drama that took place during the last two years of his life. Navi, the world’s #1 Michael Jackson impersonator who was often hired by the iconic King of Pop himself, makes his acting debut in the movie.
In Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland, Bill (Chad L. Coleman, Walking Dead), a single father, takes a one-time security detail job for an un-named VIP that turns out to be Michael Jackson (Navi), changing Bill’s life forever. Witnessing the intense turmoil in Jackson’s life, Bill adds Javon (Sam Adegoke, Switched at Birth) to the security team and the two do their best to shield and protect the family from constant hounding by tabloids and fans. They know Michael’s goal was to give his family the normal childhood he never had and do their best to help the pop star in his endeavor. Bill and Javon also witness the professional turbulence that engulfed Michael in financial troubles, all the while maintaining their loyalty to Michael despite going months at a time without pay and neglecting their own families. Ultimately, Michael took on the ill-fated “This Is It” tour that resulted in enormous physical strain and psychological pressure, culminating in his untimely death. Michael Jackson: Searching for Neverland provides an exclusive look at Michael Jackson’s final days and helps answer the question that fans around the world want to know: What really happened to the King of Pop? I think they did a great job casting Navi. I was truly taken aback by how similar he was to Michael at times..But I just feel like he was lacking the warmth that MJ had. It was driving me crazy throughout the entire movie. He comes off so serious and cold at times.
