What people fail to understand from xu xiaodong's situation is that he only challenges hacks or fake masters. So if any of those people are legit, he wouldn't want to fight them because WHAT IS THERE TO PROVE
I think they need not challenge Xu, but to learn from him to improve their kung fu and help their skills to adapt to this present situation. Humility is better than nothing.
Xu probably thought the Romanian dude is useless at fighting, so that's why he sent a much smaller student. It doesn't seem like they fought, but I have a feeling that he would have lost to the smaller guy anyway. As for Wang Zhiliang, well, that match is just for fun anyway, though he probably has the durability to last for a minute against Xu even without Xu going easy against him. He'd obviously lose, but he could probably survive for a while without getting knocked out.

The modern problem with traditional martial arts in my oppinion. Is they lost touch with why they were created in the first place. In a fight no matter how advanced you are if your fightng some1 of around similar skill..it typicaly becomes the simplest technique works. Alot of flashy move can work against regular ppl who have no experience no training..i believe traditional martial arts started believing the myths that ppl who never fought would tell n exaggerate the retelling of a fight they seen. So it intimidated ppl allowing for the martail artist to win fights with out fighting.(Not what i believe bruce lee ment exactly but can apply) So you got a point of generations of students rarely fighting causing impracticle techniques to take hold. The thing is traditional martial arts training actually is very good for conditioning n flexibility which is almost half the battle. What they lack is fight experience. There was once a time in china could still be happaning for all i know..that the gangs would fight daily but they still practiced martial arts. In our modern time that actual fight element yas been loss for many disciplines causing in our modern times ppl to believe traditional martial arts is no good when in reality true karate schools have translated well to mma n some ppl trained in kung fu have translated well to kickboxing etc If more traditional martial artist student or masters would challenge themselves could create a surge of new styles and philosophies n this is coming from an African american man who comes from a family of fighters with am n pro fighters and a boxing world champ 1st cousin(tracy patterson and i myself have trained 9years in boxing gyms n was brought in to help train and spar amateur n pro boxers and mma fighters

I think the fake guys that he fights last over a minute because the big money backers behind the matches might put it into contracts or the rules will be made in such a way to prevent ground fighting which would be the end of most kung fu frauds.
