Are you talking about the white gear I pick up at 1:50 in the video? That's the gear that the motor(black gear on top) drives, which pushes and pulls the antenna (white strip of gear).
I’m so confused. What did you actually do that keeps the antenna extended? It just looks like you took it apart and then put it back together without changing anything.
@@shoemaniac100 my motor was burned out, so the motor never turned on to wind the antenna up or down. I took it apart, manually extended the antenna, and then put it back together with the antenna extended. This way the antenna is extended and usable. Only thing to note is it will always stay up with the radio on or off.
I have a 99 as well and the antenna either doesn’t go all the way up or all the way down. Won’t go when you push it or pull. I am not sure I am handy enough to pull it all apart.
If it moves then maybe some of the gear teeth are stripped and that's the point where it stops. Just a guess. If I recall correctly, my motor didn't work but the gears were fine. As for not being handy enough pull it apart, I not sure what you want to hear. Either give this trick a shot, try to replace the entire unit with a new one, or pay someone to replace the unit. Worse case you get stumped and pay someone to finish it. You will learn something, we all start somewhere. Or just leave it the way it is.
@@MileHighDreamz Thanks I will give it a try. Once I figure out how to remove the carpet and can access it it can’t be too hard. My W140 is in my videos if you are curious.
thank you man , mine doesn't work but i can hear the motor running , im gonna check that belt and that gears .
I think you can replace the belt if the teeth are bad.
Hey what is that white gear knob for on the right side of the antenna? Thnx

@@MileHighDreamzno, at 8:42 its on the right side of the screen, tucked in the insulation.
Oh I think that just holds the insulation in place. Not 100 percent sure though
