Yes I also enjoy the artistry of building Orthos
Another great video Q8, Auto-Ortho does look very good, but as far as I know it is only Windows and as it turns out I'm on Mac, but anyway custom airports, SimHeaven overlay and great add-on planes are what I really enjoy, and we have plenty of those, so all good. Again a big thanks for all you do, blue skies
Like many I stopped using and uninstalled xp, but I agree with you its looking good, autoortho and its smooth, seems to load quickly, nice planes. I'm seriously considering trying it out again.
Funny, I pretty much abandoned MSFS for XPlane. I might go back to MSFS when they patch MSFS 2024 into an acceptable state and all my 2020 addons have carried over, though.

I’ve always enjoyed the content and insights you provide in your videos. Based on content alone, I would choose your RUclips channel over any other flightsim channel. However, I’ve noticed that the visual quality often doesn’t match the excellence of your content. I’m not sure if you’re aware, but the resolution seems lower than expected, which makes it harder to appreciate the beauty and details of the scenery or aircraft being reviewed. Have you considered uploading in 4K or even 2K to enhance the viewing experience?
Live streams are in 1080p and my videos are in 2K. This was a live stream.
Hello,
I wanted to do your flight but when I click on "INIT REQUEST", my flight plan does not load?
Where do you install it and where do you download it?
Thank you
You need to set up your simbrief id in the settings. File a plan with simbrief and then you will be able to download it form the mcdu.
I love xplane but still the dark cockpits!
The cockpits are not dark, I don't know why people say this
Is this with Simheaven as well?
No, no additional addons here except for the Airport scenery and AutoOrtho.
@@Q8Pilotbut do you get buildings without simheaven? Because when I use autoortho then the normal buildings (no airports) dissapear. I need to use simheaven if I need to see buildings during the flight
I've always liked the way X plane looks around the airport's at this time of day. I used to fly on x plane 11 quite a bit but then moved across to MSFS. Watching your videos I'm tempted to pick up X plane 12 to mix it up a bit.
Does the X plane 11 stuff port over to 12 eg I used to have the flight factor A320 on 11 or is it a case of having to buy a new version?
Due to the significant changes to how the physics are done in XP12 over XP11, a lot of devs have had to spend a lot of time upgrading their aircraft to XP12. Unfortunately, FF made their A320 a paid upgrade of about 20USD. It is justifiable, but nonetheless a minor annoyance for the users, which is us.
Personally I'm not a fan of that yellow tint at dusk. It looks horrendous. You can't unsee it.
back in the day when i was using autoortho i noticed it would randomly stutter , spiking my cpu. I understand its benefits but somehow i still prefer building up my own orthos with ortho4xp. I can pick up the mesh , customize the scenery quality / lod …
May I know what version of ortho4xp that you're using with xplane12?
Hello Q8Pilot, I hope you’re doing well. Could you please make a video or livestream for the Felis B742, with a detailed explanation of the approach and landing? I’d love to learn how to manage it effectively, including how to set the heading and when to make adjustments. I would really appreciate it. Thank you!
I have done many Felix 747 content.
Nice video thanks. I have a question, I used ortho4xp with XPlane 11 a few years ago and created photoreal scenery for areas that interested me. I haven't flown xplane 11 since 2020 and was thinking about getting xPlane 12. I would like to try auto ortho can ortho4xp scenery and autoortho coexist? Or I have to use one or the other?
Yes they can co exist with no issues.
now if toliss would up their modeling and texturing from xp10 to xp12 standards XD
Is there any live traffic for xp 12?
You can use live traffic for XPlane.

X-plane users, like q8 pilot, never accepted that msfs 2020/2024 is more immersive than x-plane 12. Consequently it is more of a simulator for PC users.
wish xplane did google maps
Why? I think it is doing it pretty well actually
What is the procedure to install AO 7.2 over 7.1?
Point the installer to the current autoortho installation. It will automatically remove the previous version and install the new one.
@@Q8Pilot Thx Q! I will proceed. Also, I totally agree that XPlane looks more realistic than MSFS.
Personally I think that X Plane 13 will have to come up with a completely new simulator if it wants to survive and therefore a completely new earth, this current one is a very old simulator concept similar to X Plane 9.
While I agree that XPs scenery could do with a shakeup, I don’t think it’ll ever “die”. Unlike MSFS, whose entire market is the home user, XP has a commercial market (their main source of profit) where they sell XP for use in flight training, and since there aren’t many other competitors in this market, it is safe to assume that XP and Laminar Research won’t be kicking the bucket any time soon.
In other news, LR is actively developing their next generation scenery. It is said to be an improved version of dsf, the current model they use (and have been using since XP9), but I believe they will be using AI to improve road, building, and vegetation placement.
When I say “an improved format of dsf”, what that basically means is a lot more definition in the amount of nodes in the terrain, i.e., smoother roads and hills, smoother shorelines etc. This could also open up the opportunity for improved ground textures, as Laminar said that they will use AI to select (and create?) ground textures based on photogrammetry - so in theory, it should be better than ortho.
This will take time to develop, and some of it is also a gentle release of the new scenery, just to let the community catch up (so the 3rd party add on makers don’t get disgruntled that all their previous work is for nothing anymore).
They should team up with Google maps...
@@MultipilotSimulation completely false statement. Xplane s user count drops each month
Laminar doesn't have the funds
@@JWC924 , they don't need funds, as long as they team up with Google...
The more I fly Xplane the better it gets. MSFS is just taking up space on my hard drive now especially after the msfs2024 disaster.
X-Plane looks better like a game as Star Citizen which take 1 billion $ crowdfunding. MSFS is eye candy, I don't like the colour and the city looks like war zone in some area.
sorry, xplan emay have good flight physics but the scenery do not look anything realistic. they look like a nice painting. msfs is just the best hands down.
=)
You got to be kidding! First the trees around MCO looks like evergreens, not what you would see in Florida! 3D objects have very limited range, very apparent on takeoff. More like FSX was, The only word for the cloud base is horrendous! then there's the plane, and a high cost pay ware one at that, what is going on with the displays? The PFD has a vertical stripe running through it and the other displays appears to be mis-sized with a frame visible around it. The Auto land had problems with it as well. The approach was too low the 50 ft callout was way before the runway's threshold, resulting in higher flare angle then it should have been.
I see you are more interested in scenery than flying.
@@Q8Pilot No I'm just responding to your "X-Plane is Looking Fabulous" embellishment statements! I do know landing with an AOA of 8 or 9 degrees at touchdown as seen here is not a good thing unless you like tail strikes! Seriously though what is story with the displays on the Toliss A320? This is the first video I've seen exhibiting this problem!
At least they look like trees and not blobs :-D
