    I'm a 44 year old father of two little girls, and this "kids" show hits me harder emotionally than any other show I watch. Not just any other kids show, any other show, period. Sleepy Time made me openly cry as it is the most beautiful metaphor for kids' gradual movement towards independence and parents' unconditional ever-present love I have ever seen animated. How they do this in these little 8 minute segments is nothing short of absolute genius. This is the best "kids" show to hit TV in decades.

    I recently taught a pre-primary class, and we often would watch some TV after lunch to chill out.
    They would request Peppa Pig, and that show was so tedious to get through.
    Then they requested Bluey, and I was prepared for the same thing - but, wow, I was genuinely shocked at how good the show is.

      @@EntertainTheElk Fun fact: a local newspaper here in Brisbane (where Bluey is both set, and made) worked out roughly what suburb they live in. From that they then extrapolated the value of their house. The house, which is in the style of a "Queenslander" - a very popular classic home style - combined with location which is in one of the more popular suburbs not quite in the inner city but still very close, with excellent views of both the CBD (downtown) and the river, was estimated to have a market value of around **5 million dollars.**

      @Dazt4r 2 года назад +13

      Thing that’s worth mentioning is that you only really see Bandit Or Chilli being these amazing parents and Bluey and Bingo being receptive for 7 minutes at most, we have to assume that it isn’t always like that, and I feel like Brumm and co might touch on that at some point.
      So I f you, as a father yourself, can be as ‘good’ as Bandit for 7 minutes, you’re doing as well as him.

      @Dazt4r 2 года назад +7

      @@CJTheReal god I always see that and yeah, fancy reno’ed queenslander in Paddington WOULD be that much, but I think it can be extrapolated out that it was Bandit’s parents’ house (his childhood home) and if that is true it’s much more reasonable for them to have inherited it, or at most have purchased it when Inner city Brisbane real estate wasn’t astronomically overvalued.

It shows the family taking the garbage out, every week over the course of several weeks. There are just so many easter eggs and little plots they develop over this episode, from Bingo learning to deal with a bully, to Bluey getting her yellow belt, to them realizing that the phases of the moon correlate to the every-other-week recycling day, to the way the garbage they throw away correlates with the type of week they've had. I started to wonder if cartoons made outside the U.S. teach children about life's realities before American shows do, and I kept watching...to see a heartwarming lesson about communication and conflict resolution end the episode. Bluey perfectly follows the Golden Rule of children's tv - write well enough to entertain the parents, and the kids will be entertained too. Throw in the fact that it introduces kids to composers like Holst and Tchaikovsky (royalty-free music ftw!), and you have a perfect family show.

    I felt like you did the show a disservice by only concentrating on the poignant aspects of it. Part of the reason it is so popular is because it also stays very lighthearted and throws in a lot of "adult" humour, some of it surprisingly racy in a way that a lot of kids shows avoid.
    Part of what makes it so good is it strikes an excellent balance between thoughtful and irreverent. Many kids series, in an effort to not "talk down" to kids end up talking down to parents. Kids aren't stupid, and they can tell when a parent is just watching something because they have to. Bluey strikes a chord because it's something that both adults and children can enjoy without any of the detached irony that many parents have to cultivate to get through an episode of say, Caillou. And if a parent is genuinely laughing along with what's happening on screen, not only does it make the more quite moments that much more emotionally impactful, but it also helps the kids enjoy the show more.

    I have heard a ton of good feedback from Bluey, and it also has some insane references that are very well hidden in the background. I can tell that the team who makes the show really wants something that anyone can enjoy and leave with a smile, not like other shows which wants you engaged with the story or trying to learn something here and there...

    Bluey gives me a roller coaster of emotions similar to when I first watched Wolf Children. The way the episodes play out, and it being a slice of life kind of thing, and dealing with things that you would normally have to deal with growing up. I'm so thankful to have watched this show alongside my s/o. It's the best experience to me, especially as an animation student.

    I LOVE THIS VIDEO WHOLEHEARTEDLY. 💛The segment where you described Bluey and Bingo's game of evolution, and how they referenced "gods" and "heaven" was astounding! I haven't gotten to that episode yet, and it just blew my mind. This kids' show truly is like no other!

    I gave the show a watch a little while ago from writing this because I needed something completely wholesome and not annoying while I was sick, that and I couldn't help but notice Bandit sounded like Berry Steakfries from that time Halfbrick deiced to produce six shorts and two music videos for Jetpack Joyride and wanted to check it out. Which apparently on that last one, not sure they had the same voice actor, but the show and those shorts were made by the same animators, cool.
    I'm pretty sure this show is the only reason I'd be okay having kids in the future. I genuinely enjoy the show for a lot of reasons, and this video proved to me I still didn't give it enough credit.

    It’s so wild seeing these comments talk about trauma, openly crying, and plenty of other emotionally deep comments in regards to a Disney Junior show.
    I’ll admit, when I saw the series, I wasn’t very impressed, I thought it just an above average kids show. But seeing it again, I’m now impressed

    I am a single woman with no children, but I adore this show so much. What I love about the show is that it really highlights the joys of having children, especially at that age. Too many people have children and see them as something to be tolerated, not celebrated.
    This also shows parents that you can’t just shove an iPad in your children’s hands and expect them to become well-rounded and well develop individuals.
    It means answering 1 million questions, it means answering those same million questions over and over. It means having extreme patience and acknowledging that someone who hasn’t been been on the planet for 10 years actually needs to RAISED and TAUGHT, not just learning by osmosis.
    What I am most impressed about is Chili’s involvement as a parent. 100% of the time we see the mother being the “Didi Pickles” type. Completely enamored with her children and hovering over them afraid that she’ll miss something. It’s nice to see a mother spend time with her friends, playing sports, going to the gym, taking solitary walks on her own, and just getting to be away from her children where she doesn’t have to know what’s happening at every moment of the day.
    In turn, Bandit is always seen playing with them, but he actively engages and participates. He doesn’t just turn on the television and says “I’m watching them.”
    Plus, he knows how to break play and be a dad when necessary, like the time when Bluey wasn’t letting Bingo be the magic pillow and he let her sort it out before they went any further.

    My wife and I found this show a few years ago when we were out of town staying at a hotel. Naturally we put on a random cable channel for the kids. And this show was on. In the background.
    When I the kid dog had lost a tooth and the tooth fairy came last night. So the dad asks what did the tooth fairy leave. And Bluey says $5 bucks! The dad spit out his cereal and said FIVE BUCKS! We were hooked ever since.

    I consider the show one of the best ever created. It was technicallly perfect and the feelings it makes are amazing cos you cant expect that it make u cry with something so pure and deep. Sleepytime is a great episode. ONe of the best ever made in a kids show because its about the inmortal love of a mother an the way of atureness of a child and the dedication of a father. It has all!!! AN the way of manage the last message destroys the hardest heart (chilis voice is so calm and lovely...). I love the show and it Taught how to be a present and better father and i hope some day to be so awsome father as Bandit is

    Haha, I wondered when the video essayists would start making videos about Bluey. Such an amazing show that gets a lot of different aspects of filmmaking right. I always end up burning through a season before I even watch it with my two young kids... I am pretty sure I like it a ton more than them. It's cliché at this point, but as a father, I know I aspire to be even half as fun and engaging a parent as Bandit. Chilli is amazing as well, and in different ways, but I just wish I had Bandit's complete and total commitment to a bit when playing with his kids.
