What a grand idea and you most certainly did a fantastic job organizing the event, not to mention capturing it all on film and I can relate a wee bit to that aspect. I’d love to participate next year if you’ll allow a Canadian!
Ethan, first off, thank you and everyone with the NMLRA for working in all the ways you do to preserve our history in its many forms. Without the NMLRA, who knows what knowledge may be lost. This was my first sort of shoot Iv'e been to, first time to friendship IN, and only the second time camping out. I have to say this was an absolute blast! Everyone was kind, knowledgeable, and helpful if needed. The woodswalk was fuper fun to shoot, the stories were great, and the memories are greater still. The trekking was super fun, I'll never forget it, and i can't wait for the next one! Keep up the amazing work buddy this was incredible!
As someone who is not able to get into the woods and walk around or hunt I really loved this video alot. It reminded me of being in the woods. Thank you for sharing this video!
Though my knees prevented me from walking much and I didn’t know what to expect it was a great time for me to get back into shooting and trying to fit into my clothes that I had made. Thank you so very much for hosting this event. I look forward to the next one and being better equipped and in shape. I learned so much just listening to all the stories and made some new friends that I hope will be around for next year. Till we see each other again, may the sun shine on your face and the wind be at your back my new friend.
While I am not a Muzzleloading guy, I have got into black powder cartridge shooting. I can admire your passion for keeping this living history. Thank you for being out there doing what you love.
Thank you so much for sharing this Ethan, I’ve been long yearning to break beyond just my hunting and target shooting with black powder(period appropriate attire and tools etc). These videos sure do drive me to follow that passion in its infancy. Love all you do, thank you
Hey Ethan! Wow! OUTSTANDING! What a Great Time for everyone involved! I hope that this becomes an annual thing! The Candle Light Shoot was Inspired. But the things I enjoyed the most, were the gentle natured joshing, the stories told, and the great satisfaction of a shared experience! Well Done!
This was a great video. Me and my wife are getting into rendezvous have participated in 2 so far,I used to go as a kid with my grandpa. This is the kind of content needed to get more interest in a dwindling down part of history, great job and great content I can't get enough of muzzleloader shooting. Keep your barrel clean and powder dry.
I'm very disappointed that I couldn't attend this year, especially now that I know I missed camping with Jerry! I've known him for a long time and would have LOVED to be a witness to all those meeting him and hearing his stories for the first time!
Thanks Ethan. Good to see folks enjoying the sport. Shinin' times. Ethan the big plus here is all the work you put into making this dynamite video is gonna draw someone into the sport. Thanks for that. Good job. Well done. And thanks again.
This was an incredible experience, thank you Ethan for providing us with this opportunity. Really did put our gear to the test, further more strengthen our gear for better use! We both learned a ton from it. Au cours du xviie siècle, ils entrèrent en contact avec les explorateurs, trappeurs et coureur des bois français et canadiens français qui arpentèrent leur territoire ainsi que celui du Pays des Illinois situé à l'ouest de leur territoire.
Ethan, it looks like I missed out on a great event. You did one heck of a good job & a great video to share with us. See you at Conner & Kazoo I hope...
Good job. I myself set up a "few "in my time. They were enjoyable times with good memories. I would go again anytime. You see I love the muzzleloading too.
You should mount a gimbal on the end of the barrel so you can use it like a selfie stick as well as a pov camera when pointing away from you. That would make some good woods walk videos.
Thanks for sharing Ethan a really awesome video. I purchased a woods runner flint lock, but I still have to site it in, so I've never shot it yet .where you all in friendship, Indiana?
Hey sir. I see your a fire fighter. I've been a firefighter EMT for 38 years. I'm just getting into muzzleloading. I'd give anything to do a weekend like this.
Ethan, I love your work. What a weekend you folks had. I bet you could have used the Floop for warmth for sure. Are you a coach or instructor in ML? I been a coach for years. 1986 You do good work for sure. Keep the powder dry. Doc
I loved your video, and it reminds me of the time in my life when we had a lot commraderie (sp), and a common love of history while reenacting the American Civil War. Unfortunately we don't have anyone participating in similar 18th century living histories around me in here in Florida. Being in my mid-seventies, and in failing heath I doubt It will happen, but I enjoy all of your videos immensely.
I’m wanting to get into reenacting I’m 16 years old . I recently got an ancestry test have found out about my frontier ancestry I had one who was one of the first people in the Nashville area in 1779. I also had an ancestry who was at the battle of kings mountain. And a frontier scout who burned many Cherokee villages in the tellico area during the revolutionary war . I just need some pointers on where to buy the authentic clothes , and kinda a few starting points on what to get !! I would very much appreciate it feel obligated to honor my ancestors through living history !!
I have some questions for you. My dad gave me a hawken 50 cal muzzleloader that hasn't been shot in maybe 60 or 65 years. Do you think it would be safe to shoot it and hunt with it could you give me some pointers. I would appreciate it. I want to get into muzzleloaders
I love flintlocks and want to get my 11 year old one because he loves history about the revolutionary and civil war. But I will keep my percussion cap rifles. I would do this with my kids but they would complain about the cold.
What a grand idea and you most certainly did a fantastic job organizing the event, not to mention capturing it all on film and I can relate a wee bit to that aspect. I’d love to participate next year if you’ll allow a Canadian!
Whoa that would be so cool. I’ve been watching TheWoodlandEscape for years! Please come next year and do a wee bit of history around the campfire
Yeah,, me too.

Great job and good on ya for taking this on, tremendous effort! Would be neat to see something similar for a primitive turkey season camp in PA.
Was a fun time. I’ll be back next year.i hope to see everyone I met. Thanks Ethan. It was perfect. Learned a lot.
Ethan , you are a wonderful light of muzzleloading back in time . Our hobby needs more beacons of historical light like yourself. God bless you.

Very inspirational. Reminds me of the shoots out here in the West that have disappeared. Thank you Ethan for continuing the tradition!❤
Good Job Nat, Cheers.

Hey there, thank you! FTC is a great guy. Hoping to do more with him in the future.
You should mount a gimbal on the end of the barrel so you can use it like a selfie stick as well as a pov camera when pointing away from you. That would make some good woods walk videos.
Great job fun had by all
Thanks for sharing Ethan a really awesome video. I purchased a woods runner flint lock, but I still have to site it in, so I've never shot it yet .where you all in friendship, Indiana?
Great video. For catching a spark, I swear by charred punk wood. All you need is one little spark.
Was going to come to that, couldn't pull it off this time. Looked great.
The first video of yours I watched 50 times. Seasoning barrels clearly 😊
A very well filmed video.
Looked like fun but travel from NW PA to Friendship would be a journey in itself.
Hey sir. I see your a fire fighter. I've been a firefighter EMT for 38 years. I'm just getting into muzzleloading. I'd give anything to do a weekend like this.
Nicely done,Sir.

If it looks like it will be the same time next year, I’ll block the dates out as I’d love to make the trip and make the trek.

Where was this event held?
If I lived near I’d would have been there.
When I retire I want to do stuff like this
The forests would have looked nothing like that in the 1700's.
Now,that is American, that is a great thing ya'll done, would have loved to have been a part of it, " Minutemen ".
