This is the easy way to map and install extra buttons/command for your sim racing rig. You can also find number keypads with RGB lights on for under $13 on Amazon or Ebay. Print stickers or cut paste icons and you're done. For those who would like a custom DIY box button there are a lot of tutorials on RUclips videos and get the parts on Amazon and Ebay. Cheers!
This is a great idea! I've been wanting a way to get the button box functionality cheap, and now I have! Just ordered the same keypad. Is there anyway you can share the button designs you made for it, cause they look really good.
Have you had trouble programming the keypad as a button box? Certain keys like Enter or the calculator button cannot seem to be used but you seem to have all yours used on your keypad. Did you have to do anything differently?
I've found it somewhat depends on the game. Some are more finicky with which buttons you can use. I'll have to make a follow up video as I dug further into it and was able to use www.autohotkey.com to rebind keys so that everything worked.
@@ShutUpAndDriveIt I am working on trying to setup AutoHotKey for my keypad as well. Would you be willing to share your script with me so I can see how you did it and adjust it to what I need? Thank You for all your help!!!
@@248JRO SetTitleMatchMode, 2 #IfWinActive, Assetto Corsa NumpadEnter::a That is how I rebind the numpad enter button to my 'a' button. The first 2 lines of script are just so it only works in AC and not once I quit to desktop. But if you don't care about using the numberpad for other stuff simply that last line should rebind it.
If you want a more professional button sticker, someone is selling a button box sticker set for about $10 that fits the keyboard buttons. Just search for button box stickers.
I honestly don't notice it at all! In the near future I'm going to try and and make a video of an accurate measure of the actual input lag to see how good/bad it is.
Personally i use a cheap eBay SNES controller as a button box. It cost me like.. 3 bucks maybe? Sure it has less buttons but i find it ok. Also on a bit loose budget i'm thinking i could buy a joystick encoder + buttons for around 30$ with the buttons and a joystick but instead of using their buttons i might just buy some of those dome buttons on eBay, and making a buttonbox out of it maybe with a project box of some sorts or a wooden box
It does have to piggyback off of your normal keypad button assignments.....but you can get around it with 3rd party software to make custom keystrokes.

I'll have to take a look at those!
Do the TVs give you any input lag at all? That would be my biggest worry for getting one.
I honestly don't notice it at all! In the near future I'm going to try and and make a video of an accurate measure of the actual input lag to see how good/bad it is.
@@ShutUpAndDriveIt oh wow that’s nice, I might look into one tv instead of my smaller monitor! Thanks!

and as an added bonus with the SNES controller your rig is also compatible with Mario Kart! :P
How do I assign other functions to the keys without them getting in the way of the normal keyboard?

Se puede con un teclado completo?
I use Sim Dashboard.
I've heard good things about that one!
how did you paste the icons on the keypad ?
just used a regular permanent glue stick. haha. nothing fancy.
Dane cook?
Are you broke because of all those fanatech boxes in the background?
hahaha
