I hope you manage to sleep better with the new windows fitted, Ashley. It takes me ages to get to sleep and I wake up to the slightest sound. Although lately, a small drop of Lavender oil on some tissue under my pillow case has helped me a little. Well done with solving the window issue. Hugs. Carole in UK.

Forsythia along the road will help with the noise and dust, they grow fast and spread, you can move them easily, they multiple like crazy, and they herald spring, first to bloom each year, some people trim them into a hedge but I love leaving them WILD!! The yellow flowers are beautiful they are also called Yellow Bells! This is my favorite!!! !!! I really think you guys would love them, they grow so fast you will have a great hedge in no time, one time purchase that keeps on giving!! Love from Shreveport Louisiana 💕

Sometimes homes being over insulated can cause condensation not only on your windows but in the air. My window manufacturer has recommended having a dehumidifier, even having house plants will absorb moisture. If you're cooking a turkey for Thanksgiven, it never fails, some windows will fog up even if you have the expensive Thermo windows. Best to have a window cracked open a little same as when you're taking a shower or bath. Way back when I also had to do some window surgery to make the job right.

Getting new windows for my house was the best thing I ever did. I live near a busy road too, and so I opted for the extra sound dampening properties in my window and it is incredible how much of a difference it makes. I'm always shocked when I open the windows how much noise comes in. The original windows were builder-grade 80s aluminum windows, and they were never good at keeping air or noise out. The new windows have made a huge difference in the way my house feels. My advice to anyone buying new windows for their house is to not skimp, but also to look for deals on good quality products. It's a good investment for resale also, I believe.

We had inside storm windows when we lived in AL. I think they were called Magnatite or tight. Made in LA I think. You could order them for either sliding windows or double hung. They had a small frame inside about an inch or two from existing window. The magnetic strips around the edges clung to the frame which was a magnetic metal. They were plexiglass and had magnetic strips all around on the edges of the windows. When you wanted the window open, you stacked the half that needed to be opened on to the stationary side. They made the house much quieter, and no drafts. In AL I'm sure they saved us a lot on cooling.

I used to work for a glass company in the office. Like you said extra payens deafen noise. Here in Canada people put in triple Payne glass windows in areas where traffic is noisy or trains are close by. You did a great job to flip this glass. After all someone had to assemble them the first time using the same parts. Nice work. You will be very warm but I hope not to air tight as that is not healthy either. Your wood stove needs oxygen taken from the house to burn, so you must replace that oxygen to stay healthy.

    Hi fam!
I saw interior storm windows before!
    It was in a 1806StoneHouse video. 😜
Where I live, a lot of work has to be done by certified people, otherwise it's illegal.
But I know that it's different in USA.
And on top you are DIYfferent and you nearly always take a DIYfferent route than any manual tells you.
But it turns out good and fits your needs.
The windows look great and I hope, Ashley can sleep now as a baby!

In the UK we called it secondary glazing, great for heat loss and noise, all that was before everyone went into double glazed units, I think in Sweden they fit this on top so in effect you have triple glazing. Beware, you still have to get rid of the moisture.

I would suggest Lunos air exchange system. Tiny houses install them all the time for condensation

We looked into those. I actually wanted a whole house heat recovery ventilator when we were renovating but we decided not to spend the money. It probably would have been well worth it though. We are currently experimenting with a similar unit in our bedroom, but we haven't shown it yet :)

I had never heard of interior storm windows before you brought them to my attention. I especially like how you put the blinds between the windows. That should definitely cut down on the dust and dirt that blinds tend to attract. It looks great!

You are amazing 🙃. I really like the windows and putting the shades in the middle is Genius.
