Am i doing this worng, in the tutorials it shows you how to start up the engines, which to me, as an engineer, was the most intersting part, but whenever you do a route, you never have to start them up from cold. this is dissapointing, or am i missing some setting somewhere ?
The thing is that as a regular driver you almost never have to deal with turning the locomotives on and off. The personnel who deal with that most often are the hostlers in terminals unless you're working on a short line or a branch.
@@davidwhiting1761 Out of goods yards, unlikely, and Having worked (sadly as a guard), on the Northern line underground, the early morning cold starts remain a big memory for me. i just think it would make the whole thing far more interesting if you had to start up and shut down at the start and end of each scenario.
The Caltrain on weekdays go from Gilroy to San Francisco but only four of them. Between the morning northbound and the late afternoon southbound no train goes father south then the dijion station in San Jose. In fact that station is a major station for several trains. You can get to Stockton and Sacramento with the capitol (?) and the Amtrak costal starlight now called the costal. And it’s a major area because it’s the only place where there is a railway Wye.
Hey anyone here experiencing issues using the automatic brake? When I start the route I can't even use the brake with the left trigger. It starts only letting me use the dynamic brake. I have to manually turn the camera around and apply it.
I absolutely LOVE the new system. I got peninsula corridor the day it came out, and played it all day. I haven’t done that before because I would get bored because of the lack of stuff to do. Great job dovetail! And great video! Just have to hope they add a AC4400CW
Train Simulator is an interesting concept and I have played it a little. My disappointment in it is that as SOON as you do something wrong the mission fails. I want to be able to drive the train until it has a catastrophic crash OR causes a catastrophic crash!. I want to see the wreck afterwards. I also want to go through signals irresponsibly at high speed and with no regards for other rail users. So sad you cant do this.. 1 out of 10 :)
Are you playing the same scenario? The obvious thing to check are that you've powered everything up and disengaged all brakes. Also worth checking all doors are closed. The tutorial is pretty thorough
Colonel Failure no I was playing the full route SF to SJ. Disabled all brakes and powered everything, i get amps but the train wont move past 0,2mph for more than a second
It depends on the train you're trying to operate. For a US train you often have to insert the reverser handle first. Then push it to the forward or reverse position. On other systems you may need to insert a master key in the reverser as well.
It's been reported that the horn does not work on the freight train. That will never be fixed by Dovetail. Maybe just on the PS4 the problem happens. Oh the trains they have in this sim ended in 2013 they now have new coaches and engines.. I don't think Dovetail made this route.. Was it not Railworks before Dovetail took it over???. PS. I lived in San Mateo for 35 years the taxes drove me out of the town because I retired and did not feel like paying $6,000 a year in house taxes.. Houses in the 70s went for $100,000 now the same house cost $1.8 million because of high tech workers have taken over the area.. AMD and Intel are 32 miles from San Mateo.. And yes you said it right Hillsdale. It's a shopping mall that has been there since the early 60s.

It's worth noting that TSW is a different series to TS, but it follows the same idea: a "new" base game is released each year but existing players don't need to buy it unless they feel inclined to do so. It can be a less expensive way to expand your collection of routes and locos, but everyone gets any functionality improvements whether they buy it or not.
Oh pick me up in San Mateo. Well you can't I used to live there before they taxed me out of the town.. Got tired of paying $4,000 a year for house taxes..
Right, love the videos but you said at the end of your last driving video that your next video would be steam and possibly American. So here I was exited for nothing. At least you finally put the big boy on the newest transport fever.
Steam'll be a while yet. DTG wants to be sure that their diesels and electrics work 100% correctly before tackling steamers, which are complicated to model and simulate on a whole different level.
Try taking a train in the UK. Coming up with insanely random excuses for why the train is late is something of a sport amongst the train operators here.
