Holy shit! I remember this from when I was 6 or 7yrs old!! I have told this story over & over to children & anyone else who would listen. I never could get the ending as good as this narrator did. Now I can send this to everyone I told this story to, & they can tell me what a horrible story teller I am🙃 My brother & I had the record & we played it on a GE record player my Dad got from his work. This brings back so so many memories.
    Thanks!💀👻🎃

OMG, this! I was born in 1980. My brother was 3 years older. It wasn't until high school that we figured out that we had each separately had the experience of listening to this on the old fisher price record player as small children. And we both remember running out of the room in absolute terror as the woman wailed "I told you you'd be sorry!"

I got this record when I was in elementary school probably the 6th grade.it had some other stories on it the Earl King and a few other ones and one about a lady that hated dust. I was talking to a co-worker last night and he come up to me and said I told you. Totally unrelated to The Velvet ribbon. But it tripped a memory in my mind. So I went to RUclips to see if I can find it. Brings back a lot of memories from my childhood.

The Green Ribbon must be a later, gentler version of the Velvet Ribbon. At some point an adult must have realized how scary the later story is. I heard it during elementary school in the 1970s when my teacher played it. I was freaked out, but I loved it!
