I recently managed to get all the Chaos Emeralds with Sonic and Tails, thanks in large to Christian Whitehead's remake. Though for when I would say "be careful Tails," I'd soon find myself running into a set of bombs myself which would leave me thinking, "seems we're both just as good at this as each other bud." Also for all people complain about Tails, try doing it with Knuckles trailing behind too, in Classic Heroes, where you have THREE characters!
@@burp3267 what with 3 characters? Sometimes it could be, though other times not so much with the third character trailing behind. But when you get stage pattern down and give everyone time to get to get out of the way of the oncoming bombs safely its not so bad :)

Holy crap, the artstyle in this is on point, it looks borderline authentic in style! It also FEELS borderline authentic as many have pointed out. Here's a tip if you absolutely must have Tails with you in your playthrough: Tails only loses rings he himself collected. If you really wanna have him around instead of playing as a single character, then just avoid letting him collect rings and grab as many as you can instead. Be careful though, for some reason occasionally he'll somehow end up in front of Sonic and will collect rings before Sonic is even able to- I don't know what causes this so if you notice he's in front of you, try to figure out the cause and reverse it to get back in front of Tails. It won't make your life much easier what with all the twists and turns and the render distance of objects rivaling Sonic Frontiers, but it's something at least.
It’s actually annoying for the 3rd emerald I had 161 rings but tails just had to take damage and then I was left with 156 and was 4 rings short and failed
This is why I love the IOS ports so much. The half-pipes are rendered in actual 3D, so it’s much easier to react and time your jumps, even with CPU tails.

@@haroohusky yeah but tails helps you. If tails gets rings, they were rings you weren't gonna get anyway. So if he gets hit, you don't lose anything but bonus rings. That's why you should focus on sonics rings and not the total rings to make sure you get all the rings needed
@@triiodide7762 I'm fairly certain that taking Tails with you increases the ring threshold you need per Emerald get (80 rings vs 100 for example). Whenever I played with Tails I never reached Super Sonic.
I used to struggle the Special Stages in Sonic 2 when I was a bit younger. I’m the one controlling only Sonic for some reason and Tails is not copying his moves sometimes. He might get hit by the spikeballs and lose a handful of rings not a lot.
Swear to God I feel like this exactly what goes on in the special stage!! XD Used to get Soo frustrated, I had to learn how to have Sonic grab all the rings w/o tails help. ( I just let em hit all the spike bombs, I didn't really give an F about what happens to him lol) This is video is Perfect!

Special stages alone are hard. But having to worry about tails not losing rings is HELL
