  • Anne-Maire Duff as Elizabeth.
A perfect ending to a perfect mini-serie! The locket ring mention was heartbreaking and moving as well, I loved it!

I love it that they found Anne's portrait in the ring and not Henry's, even though she loved and respected her father and talked about him a lot. Her mother really meant something to her as Elizabeth never took the ring off.

Loved the Tudors History…and I got chills with the ending. She kept her mother's picture with her all these years.

Probably one of the most remarkable women of history, Elizabeth successfully reigned over a nation in an era when women, even queens, weren't seen as fit to rule on their own. She fended off enough enemies for an entire succession of kings and queens, and left England far better than when she inherited it.

I love this scene because prior to that moment, I think Anne Boleyn's name was spoken once or twice at the most. You almost have to rewatch the show and understand the role of Anne in Elizabeth's life and her unspoken presence in the series.

She kept her mom close by, she loved her very much, and she wanted to make her proud. Like look mom I'm the Queen of England!

People can say what they want about Elizabeth and her mother Anne Boleyn but the fact is she sat on the throne of England for over forty years. By the end of her reign England was in much better shape than it had been when her late father Henry VIII's reign came to an end. I truly believe that God watched over Elizabeth and protected her all of her life because she had more than enough enemies.

EXACTLY, say what you will about Anne and her daughter Eluzabeth, but histroy has marked them as two magnificent and extraordinary women who changed the face of England.

Anne Boleyn had nothing to with her daughters reign. All she did was give birth to her. Even if she wasn't executed, she would have had little to do with raising Elizabeth. Anne Boleyn gets zero credit, nor does it change how horrible she was

The account I had read said that Elizabeth's ring had to be sawn off her finger because it was on so tightly. She had never taken it off.

I don't know about the portrait of Anne Boleyn in the ring, but she did have a miniature of Robert Dudley in the little jewel box next to her bed, along with his last letter, when she died.

GoGreen1977 the ring is real, but they don’t know if the portrait is actually of Anne Boleyn. It is theorized that it is Anne Boleyn’s portrait. I personally think it is because it looks a lot like the other portrait of Anne Boleyn.

Look at the chequers ring. It actually does not look like the ring in this scene but the queen was wearing it when she died and it does have a picture of herself and what is most likely her mother

ElberethOhGilthoniel I know this is two years later. In my opinion, Marie-Duff portrayed the girlish Elizabeth I. There were many accounts of her obsession in being seen as young, incl 'young portraits' when she was over 60. The prosthetics displaying the ravages of age was tremendous in this version.

She transformed England from a bankrupt nation to a major European power. But despite what an excellent monarch Elizabeth I was who proved that women could rule without a man by her side, she was deprived of love. Her father once disowned her, her mother was beheaded when she was a toddler, her sister Mary I tried to kill her, and she couldn't be with Robert Dudley her one true love. After I watched Mary Queen of Scots, I saw how women back then could only have it one way. Mary was allowed to love but lost her throne (and eventually her head), Elizabeth strengthened and brought glory to England but died alone. It's a good thing women these days have much better opportunities.

It was a perfect ending. Elizabeth says her final peace to her court that she survived through it all. Her birth, her mother's death, her status change, growing up in fear of being killed by everyone in court. It shows how resolved she is. In the end, they saw her mother's portrait in the ring.
I think it was meant to be her keepsake cause after her mother's death Henry removed all portraits of her mother leaving Elizabeth to save that small picture.
Though I am insulted that they still called her mother the Boleyn whore even though her only crime was that she fell in love with the King and fell from grace.
Anne Boleyn is someone you should remember whose strong will Elizabeth inherited.

I love this movie! I get chills down my spine every time I watch this movie. Also why did they have to say that about Anne Boleyn? I feel that she should be respected not called that word! Honestly do people have any respect for her?!

At the time not many people did have much if any respect for Anne Boleyn. It's only in retrospect & with the passing of the years that people have come to appreciate what a remarkable woman she was.

Anne Boleyn was convicted for adultery against the King (that made her disliked by Protestants) and she had been only too happy to replace Catherine of Aragon as Queen as well as ill-treat Mary (that made her disliked by Catholics).
