You presented a picture of a BMW- 109-003 engine That you are claiming as the Heinkel HE-S3B. So you are teaching the WRONG engine to your students... BAD teaching..
you forgot your BMW history .. heinkel was part of BMW at one point ... just like Daimler and Benz were once together ... BMW is a conglomeration of about 20 companies dealing with cars and trucks and tanks to airplanes and their various engines ... BMW and even mercedes -benz are parts of the same company essentially ... you will find one engine is very similar to another because of that as it is easier to start from a known engine and adapt it to a difference need than to start from scratch and make a new one entirely . this is also where part interchangeability comes from ...

So just to give you a heads up, yes this indeed is BMW but it was used by Heinkel & they repurposed them.
