knife trick is unironically just better than weighted knife for ophidia spathe due to one simple reason: ignition scaling. that 100% melee damage increase to knife trick translates to the ignition damage when you land both charges of knife trick (which then refunds BOTH knives on kill due to KED counting the ignition as melee sourced!). fun fact, you have enough time to throw both knife tricks before 1-2 punch wears off too. so yeah if you wanna use weighted knife just run athrys instead. EDIT: also, athrys is not a 100% increase but a *200%* increase in pve, got that number wrong in the video.
Hey, have you experienced a bug with the weighted knife not refunding when killing a scorched target? I’ve been using an assassins cowl build, the whole idea being scorch -> heavy knife -> ignite + invis and for reasons unknown sometimes it straight up won’t refund the knife Another thing, what you said about KED refunding the knife off of ignition kills bc it’s melee sourced - that also doesn’t happen with this build This bug is really ruining my fun with this build, additionally the knife doesn’t refund against exploder units and some vex for whatever reason and that bug has been in the game since solar 3.0
@@theguitarist1703ignitions source their damage from the initial scorch; an incandescent kill into a weighted knife will count as weapon damage for example (fun fact: this benefits from surges!), which very well may be the cause. you'd need the weighted knife to kill the target on hit; the subsequent ignition will not refund the knife. exploder units not activating things on death (KED knives included) has been in the game for a long time and is inconsistent as hell, so no luck there.
Double side arm Mechaneer's Tricksleeve is so fun now because of the new side arm types, you can deal with pretty much anything you can think of aside from boss dps. lots of ways to build it on all the subclasses. Most fun I've had on hunter in pve in quite some time honestly.
Buried Bloodline has honestly been a blessing for Void Hunters. I'm eating good on boss damage too, im usually the player with the most kills, but double the Orbs than my team combined
And it makes us the most optimal Rat kings 2 rat warlocks for well, and 4 bipod rocket launchers on some hunters with rat king. bipod rockets in well do barely not enough to kill u when shot at feet, instantly proccing the 200% dmg in boss dps for Rat king memes. go spread the blight on our enemies with one of the rat king ornaments u prolly got from an eververse engram 5 years ago and promptly forgot about i do use 100 resilience, have zero clue if thats factored into self dmg
Double sidearm & pre buffed tricksleeves as threadrunner using final warning & fioritura was what got me through all the solo flawless master lost sectors. From full health I'd peek out of cover to toss the suspend nade and before it would land the champ would get me critical, and then would swap & melt the champ with final warning on ads. It was hitting up to 50k a bullet on the unstops. Heavy wasn't coming close to melting them as fast.
Really hope all of the “super better” exotics get a change like celestial and shards did, having something to do in the neutral game to get that bonus easier makes it feel more like you have to play into the exotic instead of just “equip in specif encounter”. You actually have a playstyle!
Yeah, seeing these hunter buffs has me really hoping that Cuirass gets a similar upgrade in the future. Before arc 3.0 it was my favorite, but now that you can select anything you want for your subclass it's generally not worth using since it brings nothing to the neutral game.
11:39 I think it's important to add on to this bit here that the class glaive for the Hunter is now tied to Jolt, which makes it buildable into the Arc subclass the issue with this is that using the glaive for its one singular exotic perk (5 special ammo shots into an enemy) completely negates the use of Combination Blow + Lethal Flow which in the sandbox right now is Arc Hunters' entire identity.
I desperately want bungie to add more melee's to Arc Hunter kit. If we have a weak, utility based ranged option it would make the class so much better.
As a bombardiers main, I mostly think of the bomb as an extra option to secure my safety when something snuck up on me. An easy ignite, blinding, suppression, sever, and now an easy freeze. The buff is really small, but it finally makes the exotic consistent across all subclasses. I do wish the blind worked with the arc elemental sandbox though.
I really wanted to do a Nightstalker using Bombardiers with Monte Carlo's catalyst, but I heard that the suppression effect from Bombardiers doesn't stun Overload Champions for whatever reason. Do you know if that is true?
@@Raveyboy641 That does nothing to answer my question. I don't want to have to throw a Riptide with chill clip on the build to make it stun overloads, the idea is to use the void bombs to do it. I wanted to know if that actually works.
@@L3RK I’ve moved to assassins cowl, if I don’t use that it’ll probably be Shards or just back to the g-falcon Cowl is really nice with the weighted knife, especially with all the free scorch this season Apply scorch, kill with heavy knife, you’re invis and you get an ignition Run Char and anything that doesn’t die to the first ignition is a free follow-up chain Plus the healing + invis from cowl is amazing, healing nade + empyrean and you’re basically unkillable if you play the build right
Gotta say Ophidia is my new YAS. You wanna go for the triple knife in tandem with scorch/ignition fragments. Double knife stack means guaranteed ignitions and if those ignitions kill anything it’s an instant ability reload. Beautiful thing is both knives re-up at the same time instead of one and then the other.
yup, its super easy to keep spamming knives into big guys as long as there are any ads within ignition range, and your dodge is coming back super fast with ember of singing, and it lets you have better survivability since you can have healing grenade where you couldn't with YAS. And this was all before the buff, now knife trick just deletes miniboss type enemies if you're able to time it right.
@@gageallred3694 exactly, plus with orb mods and the arm mods that give dodge/nades back it’s got insane ability uptime. Plus you can run it in a hand full of different ways. I’ve seen a lot of ppl use Empyrean for constant resto/radiant. Very very fun if you’re tired of the same old “use super, get super, use super again” builds.
@@bragekv9937 I think it’s mostly how much ppl wanna think about their build. When you have the Nighthawk Nuke u don’t have to worry about ability uptime/buff timers. Just plink away and drop bombs. It’s personally more fun for me with the power fantasy (I’m a big knife nerd irl). It just feels like only die hard Hunter Mains care abt the buff, and even then it’s only a small percentage of solar hunters.
If you’re using a solar weapon and that one artifact perk that scorches targets when radiant, consider weighted knives. Not even really going for headshots, but weighted knife hits on scorched enemies cause them to ignite, which can be done a lot further away than knife trick can land. Try it out!
Something I realize when using Ophidia is that a weighted knife trick will cause an ignition on scorch targets. With the seasonal mod that cause solar weapons to cause scorch on the first shot, you can create a minimum of 4 separate ignitions with one cycle of your abilities. I started to main this exotic this season when I stopped relying on damage buff and focused on creating ignitions.
Hey, have you experienced a bug with the weighted knife not refunding when killing a scorched target? @theguitarist1703 The only thing I can think of about that bug is that you have to be Radiant first in order for your knife to be refunded. Other than that, i haven't noticed anything. Although I have been using Ophidla so I don't notice when I got 2 knives to correct any mistakes. Use Empyrean with a healing gernade to sub Assassin Cowl
@@anoutlawsghost8722 you don’t have to be radiant before throwing the knife if you have Torches equipped, that’s how it’s always worked Its only bugging out against scorched targets
The last thing I would give Triton is lingering effects on its damage bonus, the INSTANT you’re no longer surrounded the damage buff goes away, whereas synthoceps keeps its buff for 8 seconds after no longer surrounded
lol at the triton vice thing (i.e. that the exotic is so forgotten that datto thought its entire effect was new, ). the only buff it got was the melee damage, and that feels like it's just chasing the buff synthoceps got more than anything. it still needs more juice to consider running, because the ammo loading can be circumvented with mods, and the explosions don't count as glaive damage so they don't inherit or contribute to weapon perks, plus they're locked to matching subclasses so strand is SOL(not that i'm weeping much for strand). If they're going to stay locked to matching subclasses and not be affected by perks, they could at the very least apply subclass specific debuffs
biggest problems with Triton Vice is that it doesn’t linger unlike its main counterparts Synthoceps (LINGERS 8 SECONDS) and Wormgod, additionally hunter’s melee stacking ability (Combination Blow) doesn’t grant Glaive melee damage, unlike Banned Of War 🦀
With the expansion of the passive play that Celestial and Shards got along with Warlocks getting a revision to Geo Stabilizers... just so close to the day Skull of Dire Ahamkara is updated for something as simple as, "Applying Void debuffs grant bonus super energy..." But they probably want to see how Hunters do with these updates first...
Fun fact about Ophidia Spathe! Whenever you get one knife charge back, be it from the timer or dodging, it replenishes both of your knives instead of just one.
My go-to build has been Blade Barrage/Shard of Galanor since Foresaken, pairing it with Vex Mythoclast as soon as I got that to drop for me. This is even better now, I am content ☺️
I highly recommend a heal clip/incandescent or frenzy igneous hammer, golden tricorn can work too but more niche I think, but hand cannons are nice now and the added healing from heal clip makes it really easy to stay alive
@@ajeenius7437 It's done more damage than celestial for about three years. The rest of your kit in pve is strong enough that a below average boss damage super is fine. I wouldn't argue against a buff, but it hardly needs it
@@Zevox144nova bomb does abysmal damage, what do you mean? It's the worst burst damage super in the entire game and that goes beyond its damage, the slova can be shot out of the air and will block your teammates shots if you throw it at a boss
Been using Shards a lot since the changes, feels very good. Also spent hours using Triton because I really love winterbite and I want that build to work but the issues you touched on make it not a good choice for harder content. My gripes are mainly: the need to be surrounded to receive benefits, and the lack of sustain while in melee range for hunters. To solve this, I'd just remove the surrounded requirement entirely, it's ridiculous that synthoceps is better for glaives than the glaive specific exotic and that's cause the dmg buff is already there, whereas if you removed that requirement, then hunters also have the reload buff (who wants to reload while surrounded? Just melee for the ammo refill) and other stuff at all times while titans need to be surrounded. Next, I'd add one more trait where glaive melee kills grant resto 1, can be multiple kills, I don't care, the design of this game is that bosses do everything to keep you at a distance (stomps, dots, fire puddles, etc) so strong healing is REQUIRED for any sort of melee based build. Banner of war, amongst other things, allow titans to stay in the fight, warlocks have rifts, hunters have...healing grenade at best, so yea, something needs to be done there. The glaive exotic should be the best thing to use for glaives and I don't think that's a hot take. Edit: Also please fix the bug where Winterbite loses its intrinsic melee damage increase because the ammo overcaps.
Wait if you overflow Winters Bite it looses the weighted edge perk?????? How dumb is that? And there I was wondering why I wasn't dealing any damage....
@@ze_darku_magician5504 Yes, this bug has been there since Triton was introduced, Winterbite also won't do its slow/freeze effect from the melee either.
@@JKeemTV I tested this today and I didn't notice any difference in damage between having the regular 3 ammo or any extra overfill from Triton's. In the Cosmodrome overworld I dealt ~ 39k against a regulard Dreg regardless of how much ammo I had loaded into my Winterbite. I did however notice some inconsistencies with damage and slow application in regular gameplay. Not sure whether I was just imagining things because I didn't pay too much attention to my damage numbers. I'll test whether I can see a difference in damage between a regular attack with Tritons equipped vs without Tritons. Maybe wighted Edge was already disabled before I started testing?
@@JKeemTV Ok I tested it again and for me, Winterbite deals exactly the same damage regardless of what circumstance I am in. It was actually 29k not 39k. 29k without Triton on. 29k with Triton on and 3 ammo loaded. 29k with Triton and 4/5/6 ammo loaded 59k with Triton and Halbadiers Reach active. I cannot see any inconsistencies here. Maybe I'm just doing it wrong or maybe I'm missing something. If there is actually a bug that deactivates Weighted Edge while running Triton's that should 100% be fixed ASAP. That would suck. I just cannot see it rn.
About Ophidia: Its competition vs Shards is really dependant on what you want to achieve. Ophidia is a neutral exotic, always active and providing value in more damage and depending on the knife you use, it has a variety of purposes. With proximity knife, it's a pretty potent add clear and pro-active tool, letting you shut down areas easily. With weighted, it's a bulky add chipper and has some added utility cause ignitions and refunding your dodge, with some caveats. Knife trick is for spamming and allows you to deal increased damage more quickly and can cause ignitions vs chunkier targets, it's not bad vs adds and is the most versatile of the *3* knives you'd use (lightweight knife is a joke, it really needs to be re-done). Now shards, shards is a different case. If you want to maximise value of your 3 knives, Ophidia, Athrys' or Calibans likely make a better candidate. If you want super uptime, shards is plain and simply better. It might be content dependant, with shards you can likely get a number of supers in some damage phases or for champs in some content, where for neutral high-damage exotics where for any situation you want the ability to sweep adds and deal damage vs a chunky enemy, forgoing the extra super charge in place of consistently potent knives.
Would love a Glaive video from ya datto! Void titan with our class Glaive gives mini bubble so much uptime along with normal bubble. And syntho/winterbite is also pretty good from what I've seen
As a former hunter main (switched to Titan cus banner of war is still in the game) the stompees buff was definitely needed. As soon as originally nerf came in the fun of general movement on hunter (pve or pvp) dropped so much I switched classes
While I love my Triton Vice with Edge of Concurrence, I’ve been more leaning into Ecliptic Distaff for destabilising rounds. A single shot or 2 if it’s higher level can make a room explode while granting free invisibility plus you have weaken, etc. It’s been so fun just watching all the chain reactions thanks to the duo.
Somehow I've done a full loop over the years, all the way back to Forsaken. Back to using (more or less) the exact same build I was using back then when Shards could refund the whole damn super. Not quite there, but I've been waiting on this buff for a hot minute so I'll take it, feels great.
Ophidia spathe was already fun without this recent buff. Instead of building around the damage boost, building around having 2 knives and treating the damage boost as a nice extra is a lot more relaxed. Especially since ignitions CAUSED by your knife refresh both charges. No kills needed. So something like a sky burners tag then toss weighted knives will cause some big booms and refresh both charges
Using a weighted knife with Cryosthesia to freeze a target to get bonus melee damage is fun. Way way overkill but does good damage against champs at a moments notice.
Note on Ophidia, if you have knife trick and the increased scorch stack fragment, two knife tricks on an enemy will ignite enemies and i think the increased knife damage from ophidia can increase the ignite? i'm not sure how the coding works on ignite's damage calc but still, it's nice
Notably, you don't even need the increased scorch fragment to ignite in two knife fans. You might need to hit more knives in each fan to do it without the fragment, but I'm kind of all right with that since it gives you more space to fit in healing fragments. And yeah, it feels like the ignitions are doing more damage than normal when I have the ophidia buff up, but that could just be placebo
Yeah, ignition damage will scale with your knife damage stacking on ophidia. Also you don’t actually need ember of ashes to cause an ignition from two knife trick throws (assuming all knives hit), the base amount of scorch it apples will cause an ignition with back to back throws. Might save you a fragment slot
ophidia spathe is so nuts, ive done some of the most damage ive ever done with it on knife trick and dragons breath. not even having the damage buff going, the double knife trick charge makes a huge difference
I personally ignore the damage bonus on Ophidia, and just use it as an ignition machine. With radiant + seasonal artifact to scorch on hit + weighted knife, it takes one shot from a solar weapon to scorch, and then I can throw a knife to trigger an ignite. Very useful when playing with Dragon's Breath to proc reloads.
I've been running Ophedia with Proximity Knives. Two instances to refund and damage, knife hit and explosion. In pvp and pve, Even if you whiff your toss and "waste" your knife, it turns into a mine. If something walks and dies from the explosion, kills melee refund both charges. Good for Red bar clears and explosion mini stun yellow and orange bar. Good for area denial with 2 prox knives and tripmine in pvp.
Void hunter + vexcalibur + triton vice is pretty good for devour + overshield builds, although titans can just do vexcalibur + synthoceps for pretty much the same effect
Side note. The enigma actually have one of the longest Shield Duration of any glaive in the game. You can also roll Unstoppable Force on the glaive, and wow it's strong. If you use Void Hunter with Enigma and Triton Vice, you can't die. Very fun.
I like the changes. We get exotics that allow us to adapt to the content, long distance boss? Nighthawk; in-your-face boss? Shards; heavy density ads activities? Ophidia ; solo content? Assassin's Cowl ; legend/master lost sector? Art embrace. Cool
Here was my main gripe with stompees as someone who doesn't PvP much - I hated that I didn't get the movement bonus in scorhed because I had no ability energy.
Ophidia Spathe’s 100% damage buff applies to the ignition that Knife Trick can do with two back-to-back melees. So on top of 100% damage melees, you get 100% damage ignitions too. THAT is the purpose of this exotic, THAT’S what gives it some power. You have a powerful higher-tier trash slaying melee that can also do AoE nukes with double damage as well. Knock ‘Em Down REQUIRES a melee kill, and this exotic guarantees that kill on all difficulties. It’s no Nighthawk, but Ophidia is easily A-tier for me now.
Literally, the first 2 minutes of my first pvp match after they reworked stompees again. It was immediately that I could tell, the nerf to Horizontal movement was BAAAAAD
Simple way they can buff Winters Shroud is just give it 3 fragment slots. Aspects that have simple designs that don’t have big impacts usually have multiple fragment slots to help build them up, ie on your mark on solar. The other option is to give it some sort of secondary effect that can synergies with general gameplay. A example, which would put it into God Tier would be that while you have it equipped, freezing a target grants the ‘frozen armor’. And it would have to be the Only aspect that does this, if they put any other aspect/fragment to grant it without some roundabout method then it would just be bad in comparison. Like on strand titan, you can easily get woven mail from an orb pick up via the fragment, but into the fray makes it so tangles, which you easily make using all your abilities in general gameplay, can grant woven mail to you and allies. It’s plays into the general gameplay and makes it nicer to have and a bit more convenient to get women mail.
That was smooth datto. First time I've ever hit the like button because a video told me to. 3:38 Tricksleeves might be really good with the special ammo rocket sidearm or forerunner.
Imo ophida is the best neutral game solar hunter exotic and dare say the best due to the fact it fixes the whole miss the knife and weep problem. And if u really want constant bb just throw on hands on and the artifact mod that gives more orbs the closer to ur super. During a warlord's ruin i was doin i was constantly getting nearly as many blade barrages as my shards of galanor teammate
As a long time Stompiees main in Pvp, the change in acceleration was definitely noticeable, but it's far better than just having the exotic do LITERALLY NOTHING for about a third of the time you have it equipped. I don't really understand why people got so up in arms about Stompiees to begin with; ever since Bungie reworked shoulder charge a few years ago Titans have had the best movement in Pvp hands down, to the point where they had to nerf the cooldown so Titans can't just spam it to get around the map anymore. Also Peacekeepers are still the most broken thing ever.
Not to make it class wars but Titans don't want to admit they are the best class for comp PvP and possibly PVE now. They want to pretend it takes skill to run around with a shotgun and lunge punch everything. Ever since they reworked Titan melee animation in I believe D1 or early D2 they've had the most consistent melee in the game. Since the dawn of Titan skating they've always had powerful movement only to be improved by shoulder charge. Hunters always have had to use Stompees to compete.
Being around long enough to see st0mp-335 go away for a long time and come back and be just "okay" now is surreal and welcomed. The games moved away from streamlined builds with passive exotic buffs taking a backseat to just building into exotics with the more MMO-like systems introduced. Gotta try that glaive though that splash of arc looks very satisfying.
Athrys with wicked implement is your "this enemy must die now" combo Headshot to freeze, those headshots give you stacks to your Athrys, the freeze gives x2 damage to melee, chuck knife Sadly I have to wait half a year for wicked implement to go into the exotic kiosk so I can't test run that build
sidearms still dont have enough range, but if you give them any more smg's will become obsolete. also the visual recoil on every single primary sidearm is so fucked to the point that it feels like bullets dont go where im pointing
I still bust out Brigand's Law in raids and other content where I can afford to be close to enemies. Best voltshot weapon in the game in that context IMO, reloads faster than Ikelos and I think the base DPS is higher too
beeen loooving the Nighthawk buff, pretty much exactly what I ve wanted for years and its relaly brought my solar builds back up to snuff with my arc hunter and Strand builds. specifically playing with Dead Mans Tale is really rewarding, double the reason to seek precision kills, range if you need it.
Probably, but graviton and Omni both can chain invis infinitely without needing to engage in combat so there’s some benefits to other exotics g-falcon will never have
@@bonjouritsready g-falcon holds up thru endgame content and is still really strong, solo stuff at least. Once you’re in a team setting though, Omni is probably better bc team support and synergy is a lot more important than having a strong individual survival build
@@bonjouritsready Omni in harder content only if you are playing with bad people that need constant saving or the gms are uber hard (which none of them are) Gyrfalcons doesn't need a kill to give you massive boost of damage and free anti barrier so its the best in all content
Athyr's Embrace gives a 200% dmg buff in PvE btw! Its definitely still the best knife exotic armor that doesn't interact with supers, even after the ophidia buff. Shards beats it out because of super, but if you ever get bored of running shards or want to run a weighted knife with an actually usable dmg buff, then definitely try Athyr's.
Great video! Solar knife-spam hunter since the genesis of 3.0 here with a minor note: there are some weird and unintuitive bugs related to a bunch of solar interactions. I'm happy that my type of build is getting some limelight, but my advice is to do your research before you go balls deep!

After the recent change to ‘heavy handed’, stacking it x 3 literally means every kill can drop an orb if I so choose (knife tricking each enemy individually). V busted for stacking CwL quickly and generating for allies’ supers
I've been using Triton Vice with Winterbite, and having just dropped the two into my Grim Harvest build, I've been having a lot of fun so far. Not the most endgame-optimal build, but it's still fun in regular content :D
Hunters with Buried Bloodline: Aeon Swift will make your Weaken into Tractor Cannon debuff. Everyone else can do it too: except you go invisible when you have Devour.... Datto, I see you got part of the equation in the video.
Stompees change is much much better than it was but introduces its own, more slight form of awkwardness (longer aerial hangtime, no more headbonk schmovement) Overall idk why they don’t just leave these boots alone, full revert; they always extrapolated the wrong takeaway from their usage rates There’s two paths they could’ve taken at the beginning of all this: the one they walked was “too many people are using this, usage rates are too high, must mean it’s too strong: nerf it.” The one they didn’t is “too many people are using this, what does that say about our sandbox, let’s ask the players; they say the class is too slow without them. Let’s add or rework things to provide viable alternatives, disincentivizing usage without worsening Stompees themselves.”
The easier options in this game are always better & there’s nothing wrong with that, but I still love running Athry’s with a one two punch combo. It deletes champs, does major boss damage (worth it depending on the boss) & has almost 100% uptime (dependent on your decision making & skill with the knife.)
Triton Vice with Vexcalibur on Void Subclass is amazing now. It gives constant overshields with that stacked melee damage from vexcalibur included with devour and weakening, plus add some suppression nades for giving yourself breathing room for running into groups. Get the invis on finishers fragment with special finisher mod for ammo + the fragment for grenade charge on melee kills and you are destroying rooms in seconds while giving your entire team overshields the entire time. Highly recommend.
Ive been doing a lot of crafting recently with the new seasonal weapons ofc. So i blew through materials. Running lost sectors was a great way to stock up on enhancement cores and get some loot in the process. Ended up getting a heal clip+incandescent Heliocentric sidearm that i actually enjoyed using a lot in pve. Maybe try that one out?
Yo what? Weighted knife is absolutely an all the time melee attack - way more reliable at killing what it hits than knife trick. Knife trick is a tiny bit faster and can kill multiple incredibly weak things in one throw, but weighted will kill just about any ad, even in higher end content without a headshot. All that said, assassin's cowl is still probably my pick for a knife build, stacking invis, restoration, and cure makes you incredibly reliable, while knives on their own are excellent offensively.
from what i heard, the main reason people like knife trick this season is easier scorch and ignite synergy. two knife tricks with incrased scorch stacks i heard can ignite and ophida's increased damage i think also applies to the ignite, still, it's intersting. Weighted can ignite but it doesn't do an inital scorch to ignite
My only problem with sidearms is the recoil animation. It covers the reticle and i can't see where i'm shooting at, completely covering the target and reticle. Other games have fixed this by having a more horizontal recoil animation so i can still see where i'm shooting at
The biggest issue with Stompees that no one seems to want to admit is that if you're playing against anyone who can decently track you and... Aim up... At the same time, then you're a complete sitting duck with the higher jumps.
triton vice on arc hunter feels weird to me because you don't get the survivability that you get from moths + the extra utility of having two pocket blind + jolts nearly on demand, but I suppose spark of resistance is there too and flashbang grenades are incredibly strong in endgame pve you still have access to Blink tho (which imo is Arc hunter's best survivability tool in endgame PvE) probably wouldn't run triton in a GM situation tho
The fact that scissor fingers is only 4 seconds is insane. It's a great buff don't get me wrong but it's hard to use consistently and get great results, and if it's 4 seconds I expect some champion deleting damage like peregrine.
New dungeon sidearm has become my fav weapon. Impulse and voltshot. It's an absolute monster and has kind of insane range. Just wish other sidearms were close to as good lol
Nighthawk is litterally the best exotic in the entire game right now. 1 million damage per shot and you get the super back in 20 seconds also makes for the highest dps possible In the entire game
for my the biggest issue when it comes to side arms is their abhorrent recoil animation. i just feels so inconsistent on getting "precision" burst side arms when the recoil feels so bouncy compared to all the other guns, even with high stability.
Could someone explain how Datto kept getting his knives back in the background footage? I dont play hunter much and thought you needed to dodge for a melee recharge.
I actually started using a sidearm for lower tier content, it is world drop green nadir sidearm with perpetual surrounded, sidearms are better than smgs for damage, and i cant control smgs at all further than 10 meters, and this sidearm shreds, it leaves me with no ranged option, but most of the times it is fine, i want to be close for banner of war anyway, so i am converted to sidearms for now
this but Winterbite. 3600 pve kills on mine, mostly in low-tier content admittedly, but it does pretty well in Coil except on the later tier Vex bosses which do absurd damage if you try to glaive them like I keep doing lol. with maxed wormgods it does a lot of damage for literally no ammo. you can also use it as a huge crowd control tool by shooting it of course. I would not bring it into a raid because you'll fight for wormgod kills, and if you're doing a solo dungeon or something Navigator exists if you're on Banner of War anyway (watch Xemo's sub-11 minute Warlord's Ruin run, it's absurd). vexcalibur also seems like a really strong option, in large part because you get to use a real heavy weapon like a rocket LOL. I just haven't messed with it quite as much so unsure how I'd go about it
It took bungie how many years to rebuff nighthawk? However I'm still waiting on explosive knife and calibans to get fixed since STILL half the time you don't get your knife back on kills.
knife trick is unironically just better than weighted knife for ophidia spathe due to one simple reason: ignition scaling. that 100% melee damage increase to knife trick translates to the ignition damage when you land both charges of knife trick (which then refunds BOTH knives on kill due to KED counting the ignition as melee sourced!). fun fact, you have enough time to throw both knife tricks before 1-2 punch wears off too. so yeah if you wanna use weighted knife just run athrys instead. Wanted to push up my glasses and comment the 200% increase, but I'm glad another nerd out there knows their stuff.
I was hitting on average 800k in WR on the bosses with it and Celestial, quite often going 999,999k, too.

Another thing, what you said about KED refunding the knife off of ignition kills bc it’s melee sourced - that also doesn’t happen with this build
This bug is really ruining my fun with this build, additionally the knife doesn’t refund against exploder units and some vex for whatever reason and that bug has been in the game since solar 3.0
yes but weighted knife can get infinite constant ignition procs with something like sky burners

Forerunner is pretty solid boss damage. Especially with tricksleeves
I love using that
And it makes us the most optimal Rat kings
2 rat warlocks for well, and 4 bipod rocket launchers on some hunters with rat king. bipod rockets in well do barely not enough to kill u when shot at feet, instantly proccing the 200% dmg in boss dps for Rat king memes. go spread the blight on our enemies with one of the rat king ornaments u prolly got from an eververse engram 5 years ago and promptly forgot about
i do use 100 resilience, have zero clue if thats factored into self dmg
11:39
I think it's important to add on to this bit here that the class glaive for the Hunter is now tied to Jolt, which makes it buildable into the Arc subclass
the issue with this is that using the glaive for its one singular exotic perk (5 special ammo shots into an enemy) completely negates the use of Combination Blow + Lethal Flow which in the sandbox right now is Arc Hunters' entire identity.
Bomb mains unite!!!
I really wanted to do a Nightstalker using Bombardiers with Monte Carlo's catalyst, but I heard that the suppression effect from Bombardiers doesn't stun Overload Champions for whatever reason. Do you know if that is true?

@@theguitarist1703I love how us old YAS chads have begrudgingly moved to ophidia
@@L3RK I’ve moved to assassins cowl, if I don’t use that it’ll probably be Shards or just back to the g-falcon
Cowl is really nice with the weighted knife, especially with all the free scorch this season
Apply scorch, kill with heavy knife, you’re invis and you get an ignition
Run Char and anything that doesn’t die to the first ignition is a free follow-up chain
Plus the healing + invis from cowl is amazing, healing nade + empyrean and you’re basically unkillable if you play the build right
Gotta say Ophidia is my new YAS.
And this was all before the buff, now knife trick just deletes miniboss type enemies if you're able to time it right.
yeah the Ophida slander is off the charts, better than shards imo

Same here. Goes hard with 3x solar surges and Dragon's Breath (it reloads very fast with all the ignitions)
@@anoutlawsghost8722 you don’t have to be radiant before throwing the knife if you have Torches equipped, that’s how it’s always worked

The last thing I would give Triton is lingering effects on its damage bonus, the INSTANT you’re no longer surrounded the damage buff goes away, whereas synthoceps keeps its buff for 8 seconds after no longer surrounded
8:27 im not even gonna blame datto on this one BUNGIE WHAT IS THAT SHIELD HITBOX COME ON
the fact all 4 of those shots hit the shield is WILD
lol at the triton vice thing (i.e. that the exotic is so forgotten that datto thought its entire effect was new, ). the only buff it got was the melee damage, and that feels like it's just chasing the buff synthoceps got more than anything. it still needs more juice to consider running, because the ammo loading can be circumvented with mods, and the explosions don't count as glaive damage so they don't inherit or contribute to weapon perks, plus they're locked to matching subclasses so strand is SOL(not that i'm weeping much for strand).
I highly recommend a heal clip/incandescent or frenzy igneous hammer, golden tricorn can work too but more niche I think, but hand cannons are nice now and the added healing from heal clip makes it really easy to stay alive
ye i have a shards build specifically for that damn "super kills" bounty. i just want to use my funny Golden Rail gun

29k with Triton and 4/5/6 ammo loaded
59k with Triton and Halbadiers Reach active.
Vexcalibur + triton is fun as void. Having devour & constantly replenishing overshield is loads of fun
ophidia spathe is so nuts, ive done some of the most damage ive ever done with it on knife trick and dragons breath. not even having the damage buff going, the double knife trick charge makes a huge difference
And warlocks with winters guile
3:40 That like button call was just ~sensational~
I wish the Ophidia damage buff lasted just a little longer, like maybe 7 or 8 seconds. Being able to refresh on dodge is nice at least.
Tricksleeves might be really good with the special ammo rocket sidearm or forerunner.
I could work with the triton effect not lingering, I would love if the dragonfly explosion used elemental verbs as well.

What do they taste like
I agree
I dont even play destiny, why am i here???
As a warlock I'm still eating garlic
Your class is dogwater
I love Triton Vice for a close combat gundam hunter
I mainly use stompee5 for the sprint and slide speed, the real difference is that now I actually use my class ability again
Athrys with wicked implement is your "this enemy must die now" combo
Headshot to freeze, those headshots give you stacks to your Athrys, the freeze gives x2 damage to melee, chuck knife
Sadly I have to wait half a year for wicked implement to go into the exotic kiosk so I can't test run that build
if you've got the season, you can probably go for a fireteam finder to get a group going and get it
sidearms still dont have enough range, but if you give them any more smg's will become obsolete. also the visual recoil on every single primary sidearm is so fucked to the point that it feels like bullets dont go where im pointing
God I have never agreed with a weapon balance take more in my life, you’re spot on
I still bust out Brigand's Law in raids and other content where I can afford to be close to enemies.

Consider using Ophidia Spathe with Skyburners for tons of ignition everywhere.
After the recent change to ‘heavy handed’, stacking it x 3 literally means every kill can drop an orb if I so choose (knife tricking each enemy individually). V busted for stacking CwL quickly and generating for allies’ supers

Datto, I see you got part of the equation in the video.
Stompees change is much much better than it was but introduces its own, more slight form of awkwardness (longer aerial hangtime, no more headbonk schmovement)
Overall idk why they don’t just leave these boots alone, full revert; they always extrapolated the wrong takeaway from their usage rates
There’s two paths they could’ve taken at the beginning of all this: the one they walked was “too many people are using this, usage rates are too high, must mean it’s too strong: nerf it.”
The one they didn’t is “too many people are using this, what does that say about our sandbox, let’s ask the players; they say the class is too slow without them. Let’s add or rework things to provide viable alternatives, disincentivizing usage without worsening Stompees themselves.”
was excited for ophidias, left depressed because it's basically just winters guile for hunter. not a big enough time window to really do much with it.
I 100% agree with you, if I need a nuclear knife I’ll just use Athryss
It really isn’t though
Ive been doing a lot of crafting recently with the new seasonal weapons ofc. So i blew through materials. Running lost sectors was a great way to stock up on enhancement cores and get some loot in the process. Ended up getting a heal clip+incandescent Heliocentric sidearm that i actually enjoyed using a lot in pve. Maybe try that one out?
Triton Vice - If you're going to use it, just switch to syntho titan. You'll do more damage for less setup
Other games have fixed this by having a more horizontal recoil animation so i can still see where i'm shooting at
You forgot about ophidia increasing scorch damage too with knife trick
Puts it from eh to ooo
The biggest issue with Stompees that no one seems to want to admit is that if you're playing against anyone who can decently track you and... Aim up... At the same time, then you're a complete sitting duck with the higher jumps.
triton vice on arc hunter feels weird to me because you don't get the survivability that you get from moths + the extra utility of having two pocket blind + jolts nearly on demand, but I suppose spark of resistance is there too and flashbang grenades are incredibly strong in endgame pve
you still have access to Blink tho (which imo is Arc hunter's best survivability tool in endgame PvE)
probably wouldn't run triton in a GM situation tho
The fact that scissor fingers is only 4 seconds is insane. It's a great buff don't get me wrong but it's hard to use consistently and get great results, and if it's 4 seconds I expect some champion deleting damage like peregrine.
If you want champion deleting damage just use Athryss, Ophidia isn’t supposed to do everything Athryss does.
New dungeon sidearm has become my fav weapon. Impulse and voltshot. It's an absolute monster and has kind of insane range. Just wish other sidearms were close to as good lol
An adept Buzzard with a nice roll (overflow/kinetic tremors?) is very nice in the kinetic slot
2:33 don't worry the knives aren't nearly as insane as when titans had the perk
Fr, you don’t see anybody 1-tapping Riven with a throwing knife lmao
Nighthawk is litterally the best exotic in the entire game right now. 1 million damage per shot and you get the super back in 20 seconds also makes for the highest dps possible In the entire game
As a hunter that maimed blade barrage before it was good, I’m eating crazy rn☺️
Unrelated to the video topic but those LFR shots on the Locus while he was going up the stairs were CLEAN

@@gabrieltorres6633Jesus Christ bro just go rewatch the video
It was during the Ophidia section
@@theguitarist1703 I'm acoustic man

Whar?
@@theguitarist1703He's acoustic ffs, you as a guitarist should know what that is lmao
Killing the 1st dungeon boss with a single golden gun shot feels soo satisfying, finally have a reason to play hunter
for my the biggest issue when it comes to side arms is their abhorrent recoil animation. i just feels so inconsistent on getting "precision" burst side arms when the recoil feels so bouncy compared to all the other guns, even with high stability.
yes but the YAS nerf is still kicking like a curb stomp
The thumbnail exudes my thoughts completely lol.
In my opinion, Ophidia Spathe still feels a little doodoo, if it worked in a similar way to Wormgod Caress, it would be so much better
Waiting for Hawkmoon to get thresh or a damage perk so I can become The Hawk
Could someone explain how Datto kept getting his knives back in the background footage? I dont play hunter much and thought you needed to dodge for a melee recharge.
Please make some hunter build videos
CN now makes it possible to do 999,999 in one hit when used properly. The game cannot register more damage than that in one hit.
Man I wish they buffed skull of dire ahamkara to get bonus super from grenade kills or something
I actually started using a sidearm for lower tier content, it is world drop green nadir sidearm with perpetual surrounded, sidearms are better than smgs for damage, and i cant control smgs at all further than 10 meters, and this sidearm shreds, it leaves me with no ranged option, but most of the times it is fine, i want to be close for banner of war anyway, so i am converted to sidearms for now
Im really curious how the icy bombardiers would work in pvp.
Probably not super well since we apply fewer slow stacks in PvP
so many knife builds i might have to find a way to un-fuse caliban's from my arms. I literally cannot take them off I might have been cursed.
I swear not enough people are using Vexclai and it hurts. For Titans especially, it's so good for tanking and keeping your team up with overshields...
this but Winterbite.
I still wear stompies in pve to remind me of the good old crucible days in season 2 and so I can feel fast
funny that wormgod gets reworked to help its problems just for winters guile that worked the exact same way on warlock to be completely ignored
