StuG III (Sdkfz 142) German Tank Destroyer has the task of stopping a Soviet attack. Parts of the Soviet army attempts to capture the strongholds in the villages of Kovalkovo, Kuhary, Zaronovo.
The combat order for this mission is to hold the defensive positions, if the village is captured wait for the arrival of reinforcements, then attack and drive the enemy out of the village area. According to recce data the Soviet attack is supported with Soviet tanks KV-1 and T-34.

Wow, I love this kind of gameplay, the shouting, chaos, sounds, its really has the immersive aspect of the war and front-type of map/wide map makes you feel in the battlefield

IL-2 Tank Crew need to learn one or two things from STA...

Yeah, that would’ve been nice. I registered in mid August...still nothing. And I know there are quite a few of us in the same metaphorical boat.
I like games where the battlefield is this chaotic. I once played Project reality and it was like this just chaos. I played as a medic and i just saw a apc shred down my group and i had to revive them. Thanks for the nice players i learnt how to do it and saved a men or 2. Unfortunatly i had to delete the game since it was running at a smooth 8-15 fps and took all the hardisk space.
This is actually better than IL-2 Tank Crew. IL-2 Tank Crew seems so scripted and lacks the intensity of Steel Fury.
Many war games just do the same, do this, go there and there is a lack of simulation games.

Since the sta mod forums are down there is no chance in getting the new versions, however i managed to get my hands on the sta 1.0 mod, is this still a good experience or should i wait that their forum gets online again before i buy the base game?

I don't understand why the Stug couldn't destroy one soviet tank. Many hits, but not even one destroyed? Weird...
Probably the damage models in game. In real life, things like shell and propellant quality, armour quality etc. played huge parts in damage and survival. A mission kill also worked, and the tank would not join the space programme despite becoming useless
A T-34 was unlikely to survive in real life, the steel was over-hardened and the seams were spot-welded, which meant a minor hit could cause serious spalling and delete the crew, and the hull would split open at the seams, exposing the survivors to small arms fire. The propellant was poor, so even the 85-mm gun did not perform nearly as well as the on-paper values. Their HE shells were also highly sensitive, they blew up and cooked off very easily, just like how IL-2 tank crews simulated them.
