What’s also amazing is how your videos are such high quality during your intern year. Thanks for sharing your experience- I look forward to having that knowledge y’all have as residents in a few years.
I don't want to be a doctor or a nurse but I subscribe to you because I feel so motivated after watching one of your videos . Thank you for finding the time to upload a video 💖.
Love Love Love your encouraging words! my dream is to become a Pediatrician!! Like jamie said: One day i would walk in into a patient’s room and say Hey! My name is Melody Cardona.... i’ll be your doctor today ! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Not taking the path to being a doctor, but I absolutely love the way you go through life, Jamie. I'm taking a course and a path which is a necessity to help my family even though it means sacrificing what I really want to do. It's super challenging for me but listening to your own challenges, your viewpoints and mindset on taking on those challenges, I feel motivation, human and inspired to continue. ^_^ Thank you, Jamie ★
It's interesting that as a student, medics don't deal with Amoxycillin or encounter about the practice of medicine as much as the academic minutia. In pharmacy, we have to work 400 hours by the end of our degree, so I'm a second year pharmacy student and have worked out doses of Amoxycillin just yesterday, actually. I think when syllabi integrate at least some work experience into the degree, it helps the students a lot. Here in South Africa, I know that student doctors need to have work experience as well. It's the same with nurses, dentistry, PT and OT. It surprised me to hear about the pre-med, residency and all that other stuff that goes on in America. The practices around the world are quite different, but I'm really grateful to have learnt so much from this channel. 😊
Absolutely loved this video! I’m starting my first year of college on a pre-med track in a month and reaching my dream career often feels decades away. It’s so nice to watch you finally become a resident and enjoy it.
It's funny how starting in a more challenging position one stops carring for fashion as much. After I starter univeristy the amount of stuff I had to carry and the distancies I had to walk in the city made me wear flats and carry backpacks everywhere
For a person who is doing emergency medicine, you have such a calm demeanour and it's so relaxing to watch someone explain this information in a collected manner. I aspire to be like you and I live by that. I am in my final year before I graduate from high school and because of the pandemic, it's been a stressful time for me as it would be for many others. I have very important exams at the end of the year and I need to get such a high score it's so nerve-wrecking. If you have any tips for an anxious final year student, it would be very much appreciated. I hope you see this 😭
I still have exams (law school) while it's summer and I used your 'study with me' videos this whole week. Now that I see this video I feel super motivated! It proves that hard work really pays off :) Thank you for keeping us updated (and motivated ofc)!
I'm always amazed that people enjoy and want to do this type of work. It seems so exhausting and stressful to me! (But I am thankful for people like you.)
Your videos are really inspiring! I just recently graduated from nursing school and landed a job in the ER...I'm working towards going back to school for medicine and watching your videos over the past year has helped me stay focused towards accomplishing that goal!
Awww-ing so hard at the intro- "Hi guys, my name is Jamie, and I'm a first year emergency medicine resident." *sobs* I remember when it used to be something else. I wish you all the very best Jamie- strength, good health, and all the love & joy in what you do.
Great video Jamie! I find it comforting that I´m not the only one (as a medical student) with no clue about drug dosis and that you´re learning it all over again now that you are a doctor! Glad to hear you´re enjoying life as a resident!
i'm in my second year of medical school and i've been questioning myself a lot lately but your videos give me motivation to continue pursuing my dream :) so thank you!
i’m so grateful that you still have time to make these videos!! seeing your videos is what pushes me everyday to become a surgeon and reach for my goals. thank you so much jaime 💛💛
I am a doctor , i live in Turkey, when i was in the last year, we worked 24 hours in a day, 10 times in a month. It is so beautiful that you have sparkles in your eyes but i guess i dont have them anymore. I am so much tired all the time, i can't spend much time with my family and friends, i barely can find time to spend with myself. All of my friends have psycolohical problems, nearly all of my friends using antidepressants . I am such a pessimist i know but it's hard not to these days... but i love medicine and all the things that thought me along the way, but sometimes i just ask myself "Does it worth it?" Does it worth all sleepless night, stress, headaches, medicines that i use everday to stand up ; does it worth staying away from your all loved ones? I guess everbodys answer is for themselves; i work for residency exam and all i want is peace.
LOL girl, make sure you go to the bathroom! :p but it's great to see you so excited and I'm so glad your residency is going so well!! It's really amazing that you love it so much that the 12 hour shifts don't even seem like that :) I do see a lot of doctors at work carrying backpacks, so don't feel weird about it! It's definitely the best way to carry things around!
This video was so inspiring! I am entering my last years of medical school and I've felt so down lately from all the study and lack of medical things we are allowed to do (which are none lol) so seeing videos like this, seeing you so happy to finally achieve your dream gives me motivation to keep going! Thank you and you seem so happy, I am so glad 💛
I just want to thank you so much for your videos. I've been watching you since you were a third year md student, and evry single one of your videos was so useful, encouraging, and inspiring. You are one of the reasons that made me realize that medicine is what I want to pursue. THANK YOU!
Hey Jamie! I'm a 2nd grade medicine student, I discovered you like a couple months ago (with the study sesions) and since that the pomodoro has been always my secure way to study, it's funny that even I'll get my eyes surgery as you did, and I'm excited about it (and I'm also nervous). However this year I also start my service at the hospital, learning (a little bit) about the things there, and that'll be my first hospital contact as a medical student so yeah... I'M SUPER NERVOUS. I love the way you organize and use your time, since I discovered you my mom also says that you remind her about me (even the way you re-organize your house), haha. I hope to see more about your experiences! Greetings from Yucatán, México!
Thanks for this wonderful video Jamie, I was wondering if you could do your morning and night routines as an updated version since you are a resident now and since you said you don't get as much time as you used to so I would love to see some time management motivational video :) thank youuuuu
Glad you are settling in, Jamie! Totally agree that the hardest adjustment was the shift in focus towards clinical medicine. Which is a good thing for MS4s to start thinking about as they approach Match Day. It is awesome to have a list of differentials and a host of treatment options in your mind but it would be better to start coming up with the treatment plans themselves. Keep up the great work! - Mike
You’re awesome and I wish you the very best. You’re part of the next generation of health care providers. I hope to be on that team also. I want to become a physician assistant
Hi Jamie, this is one of my favorite and the most helpful video I found on your channel. I really appreciate your reflections on the good and bad side of your experiences :)
I really appreciated the tidbit about switching from your purse/bag to a backpack! I keep wondering which I should use (I'm entering my senior year of undergrad in the fall) and I never know which kind of bag I want to use. It makes me feel better knowing someone I look up to as a med student (graduate!) and still classy and feminine is also using a backpack
I'm not even a medical student or anything but I've always wondered about those things and admire the medical workforce a lot. This video was really interesting!
Thank you Jamie!! This video is so relatable to my life rn. Because I am currently shadowing gen med rounds. And I really got to see how doctors. Many naysayers tell me to not pursue it for some reason, however I am working independently to get to that point.
it’s been so amazing to see you grow through the years. Your videos motivate me so much and I hope that at the end of med school I can be as amazing as you😁😁❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hi Jamie! I can see in your eyes that you're happy and doing well. Thank you for inspiring me! I really love your videos. I'm from the Philippines by the way!👋💓
I'm really interested in EM but there's a certain type of anxiety it gives me. Its very fast paced, no? I hope you can tell us how you're liking it as a resident.
Please take good care of yourself and do something with what you said about your work-life balance... U really gave us lots of encouragement and motivation.. Sooo here's a big thank-you-hug! And im sure we all hope you can stay really fit and great to post more youtube videos :D and we love u!
Love your videos! They are so inspiring! I’m a fourth year medical student about to start intern year in EM in June (assuming match goes well!) Do you have any tips for preparing for intern year, or things you wish you had known before starting? Would you recommend brushing up on any study materials after months of no studying/patient interactions, or recommend just relaxing before intern year begins?
No kidding! When you’re so busy, you just forget to go the the bathroom or drink water. Sometimes you don’t even have time to eat. You’re literally on your feet all the time for 12 hours.
Hello Jamie, thank you for another great video. Can you please make a video on how your work schedule looks like in residency? I'm very interested in emergency medicine as well. Thank you!
She is amazing, isn't she?!
Mati Kot Can't be more accurate than that 😉 and her videos (especially the study with me ones) are all amazing too
You actually inspire me to become a doctor😭
Definitely, I have not thought about that either
Your genuine happiness can be seen from your eyes that's amazing. I loved it.
Could you do a Grey’s anatomy vs real life regarding being an intern?
YES!
jaimelamusique yessss
YAAASSSSSSSS
Off topic : your skin is amazing.
THIS IS FACTTTTS! I don’t think I actually understood medicine till I started meeting, assessing and managing patients 👌🏽👌🏽
That Medic I see you everywhere, Dr. ExtraSaucy.
Thanks for the insight Jamie! Looking forward to learning more about EM through your eyes.
What’s also amazing is how your videos are such high quality during your intern year. Thanks for sharing your experience- I look forward to having that knowledge y’all have as residents in a few years.
YAY!! JAMIE IS BAACK!!! 🎉✨
I don't want to be a doctor or a nurse but I subscribe to you because I feel so motivated after watching one of your videos . Thank you for finding the time to upload a video 💖.
Your positive attitude and gratefulness are infectious and really come out in your videos.
Can you please upload "A Day In The Life of Resident "!!
You are my role model...Thankyou for working so hard

Will definitely try and film one!
I’m studying to become a nurse, but you’re really just inspiring! Thanks for always sharing! ☺️

The ending of the video was so sweet! Needed to hear that. I'm glad you are having a good time as a resident, love your videos!
Whenever i see your video, I always get motivated 🙌🏻😊🌸
It is amazing how you still find time to get out a video! Thank you!
you gave me chills when you said that sentence at 7:34 #ProudofU

May you have a blessed rest of the year Jamie. It looks like things are going great! 🤗
Wtf how do you go 12 hours without going to the bathroom? I can only go like 1 haha.
mynametrong after a while you get used to not being able pee for long stretches if you work in medicine.
Alongside not having time to pee, theres no time to drink water either! I’m lucky if I pee once in my ten hour shift.
I'm always amazed that people enjoy and want to do this type of work. It seems so exhausting and stressful to me! (But I am thankful for people like you.)

No kidding! When you’re so busy, you just forget to go the the bathroom or drink water. Sometimes you don’t even have time to eat. You’re literally on your feet all the time for 12 hours.
Loved this video Jamie :)
