Even worse is that China treated Elon like a rock star during his visit and our mainstream media in the USA creates negative click bait to make him look as bad as possible. It’s criminal. To be fair, Elon does not need the media to make him look bad. His shenanigans on Twitter are enough to do that. I also don't think being celebrated by the oppressive communist government in China is as big of an accolade as you think.
For the record, I am not a Musk hater. I fully recognise his incredible achievements in the electric car and space industries. But I think it's rather disengenous for you to write off criticisms of Musk by throwing in the "is he perfect? Of course not" line.
None of his critics are asking him to be perfect.
As far as I can see, all they are asking for is for him to just be a decent human being as well as a rich successful businessmam

Stellantis is a financial holding company that specializes in buying up failing car brands from around the World. They appear to be focusing on I.C.E. makers with serious I.C.E. R&D programs - NOT EVs. While their financiers have never been associated by name - many think Stellantis is a shell company.

I was working for Opel for over 30 years in their engine and transmission plant in Vienna. When PSA took over in 2017 Tavares visited the plant and stated in his speech „I‘m not your friend…“ since then he reduced the workforce from approx. 1.600 to less than 300 people… by the end of this year the plant Austria‘s capital will be shut down forever…
By the way … this has nothing to do with the Shift to electric cars, but everything with cost cutting… the transmissions are now produced in Valenciennes in France and Hosur in India. For many years the plant in Vienna was benchmark in cost and quality… but by reducing the production from 1250000 engines & transmissions to approx. 200000 per year this was no longer the case… by the way… it is still true that the transmissions from Austria have better quality than from France (forget about India 🤦🏼‍♂️) and certain types can only be produced here… but who cares… My next car will be a TESLA! That‘s for sure !!
Tavares Never wanted to produce electric cars !!! He was forced to do so… and he is still not convinced that this is the future … and he is overpaid massively !! I know his „management style“ … leading by fear 🤮

The Stellantis exec is correct that the middle class is being priced out of owning a car. Here in the USA it is already incredibly expensive to purchase a truck, the most commonly purchased vehicle type, and the only inexpensive model, the Ford Maverick, has only made 50k units this half year in 2023, which is 1/4 of what the market could absorb. Sadly Ford isn't increasing production by adding a 3rd shift until later this July, and even with increased production will barely get 120k units out the door in 2023, which is not enough. And the Maverick has gone from 20k to about 25k in the base trim in the last 2 years. So you have a choice: buy something for 40k or wait over a year for a 25k truck.
And obviously Europe can't block Chinese cars for fear of retaliation in China. China is such a huge market now, it is over 50% of Tesla's sales, and imagine if Elon pisses of Xi, and overnight Tesla becomes a pariah. There is a huge risk for Elon, so imagine he is very careful about what he says about china

A truck is not a car, it's a work vehicle and logically it would be more expensive than a family car because it's three or four times the size of a real car. In the landscape of modern warfare, the internal combustion engine has played an inescapable role, driving innovation, but also fueling conflict and destruction.
At the dawn of the 20th century, the internal combustion engine's birth brought about a seismic shift in the tactics and mechanics of warfare. Ground vehicles powered by these engines, like tanks and armored personnel carriers, redefined the movement of armies, enabling swift, flexible maneuvers that previous horse-driven or foot soldier strategies could never have accomplished.
In the skies, fighter planes and bombers, powered by piston or jet engines, began to dominate, enabling countries to project their power far beyond their borders. At sea, the advent of motorized naval vessels, particularly submarines, dramatically expanded the range and stealth of naval warfare.
However, the internal combustion engine's impact extends beyond mere tactics and hardware. The engine's thirst for oil has shaped geopolitical alliances and conflicts, with nations seeking control over oil-rich regions to fuel their war machines. Wars have been fought, and lives lost, over the access and control of this vital resource.
In essence, the internal combustion engine has been a paradoxical instrument of warfare. It has both advanced our capabilities in defense and offense, but it has also become a catalyst for conflict, spurred by the ceaseless demand for the oil that powers it. As we move towards cleaner, renewable forms of energy, it will be intriguing to observe how the dynamics of warfare adapt in response.

OEMs should’ve followed a strategy similar to Tesla. That is to bring out an expensive luxury car that brings awareness to that manufacturer now building EVs. Use that time to learn about EVs and the market and to work on building cheaper EVs. Then bring out cheaper EVs (similar to model 3 and model Y) and doing all of this whilst continuing to sell regular ice vehicles. Once their EV game was strong enough they couldn’t slowly phase out nice vehicles. They would be in a financially strong enough position to not depend on their ice business any longer for survival, and could simply let the market dictate how quickly ice vehicles are to be phased out.

They are also trying to make small EV’s (like the Fiat 500, Corsa and 208) unlike others who can only be bothered to churn out SUV’s - so let’s give them some credit. FWIW, I drive a Citroen eC4.

the real issue is they are late in the game of going to all electric or mostly electric.. and are doing anything they can to stop the rise of EV's until they can make a cheaper EV line... while also spending money on new ICE cars.

You have top colleges like Harvard saying in their economics departments that the economic strategies of US in the 1800s, Japan and South Korea in the mid 1900s, and China post 1970 are terrible strategies and to get prosperity everybody needs to adopt the strategies of places like Indonesia and Somalia.
Worldwide since we all adopted Reaganomics, the middle class has been less and less able to afford their rent plus a decent standard of living. More to the point, they have been less able to buy the stuff they make which has put a hard brake on economic growth. Reaganomics isn't free trade. Two catch words do not mean the same thing. Reagan implemented a number of tariffs and blocks of imports. He put a tariff on Japanese steel. He put a quota on how many Japanese cars could come into the country, which led to a price increase from domestic manufacturers. He put a 45% tariff on Japanese mid-sized motorcycles. He put a tariff on semiconductors that doubled the price. That semiconductor tariff essentially killed the US electronics industry that needed semiconductors to build products. Reagan was not free trade. Despite being the same party, George HW Bush was for free trade (called trickle-down Reaganomics "voodoo economics") and put in place the groundwork for NAFTA, that was signed under Clinton, who continued or expanded many free trade policies. That led to economic prosperity and the only US budget surplus in modern history.

Morocco is a good move. Better than China. The world must move away from China, because it poses a massive military threat to the west. Western manufacturing needs to diversify into smaller nations, that wont pose a long term military threat on a grand scale like China. This is obvious to many people, but I'm saying it anyway. This applies to India also, however to a lesser extent, as India is at least a democracy for now at least. Better to have eggs in many baskets, than in just a couple, especially when those baskets are very very very large, like China and India. Better to massively diversify manufacturing into smaller countries like Vietnam, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, where wages still make industry competitive, but you don't come with the massive risk of military threat to the world order. The last thing we want is the world to by run by totalitarian states.

If the worlds governments force all automakers into selling only EVs, than the blue collar middle class will be priced out of ever owning a new vehicle. Cheap EVs from China, made with stolen tech, and slave labor will be the only option. This is a bad option.
Countries should repatrionize there companies, bring back jobs and manufacturing, and protect their citizens with tariffs. This is the only way. The way it should be. The way it use to be.

With all due respect, this is actually complete nonsense. Tesla is already selling EVs at the same price as a comparable ICE car. While making really good profits. Compare prices of a model 3 with a BMW 3. Or model y prices vs. any other SUV of that size.
They just have not come around to producing something in the "small" car space. However, that is about to change in the near future.
You might have heard of the planned Model 2?

Tesla can bring down the price of there vehicles because their current business model centers around selling carbon credits to other Automakers. Plus the US government will credit you up to $7,500 toward the price of a new EV, as an incentive to sell more.
But, once all Automakers are pushed to make an all EV line up, all of those gov incentives, and credits will go away, and cost of a new vehicle will sky rocket.
An 800lb battery made from rare earth material will always cost more than a 200lb aluminum engine block. There is no getting around that fact.

Chinese EV IS NOT CHEAP, but affordable. Price of Tesla is reduced, can you say it is cheap EV. Think before you speak.

Quadricycle. Say it with me folks. Quadricycle. The Topolino and the Citreon Ami are NOT cars (and are based on the same platform). Think two mopeds strapped together if it helps. In some countries you can ride them at 14 years old and you won't need a driving licence for a car, just a moped one. They're capped at about 28 mph and I haven't seen one with a long range yet. This is NOT a car, no matter how many times people call it one.
It is however, potentially a very important market segment, for young drivers, and second vehicles for families. As long as you don't need to travel on highways, these are fine. You're unlikely to spend much time in London or Paris, or even small provincial cities, going faster than 30mph.
You'll only confuse yourself and other people if you call it a car and try and base your judgement of it around that key misunderstanding of it's place in the market.
