👋🏻 If possible , it would be wonderful to be invited into a kitchen and learn their ways of canning and pickling.

I'm happy for them, I buy their great foods and totally support them especially against the government, guess I'm an enemy of the state now.

The Amish way isn't for everyone. The Amish put Christ above all. He's the head of every Amish household. You can't really mimic the Amish without a deep relationship with the Most High and His son. The Amish understand stewardship and take it very seriously. Every single thing they do is rooted in their faith. They don't worship self sufficiency. Their self sufficiency is born out of their faith.
All of that said, there's a misconception that the Amish don't go to grocery stores. They absolutely do. They shop at grocery stores just nowhere near as much as the average English (non-Amish) family. They especially like discount grocers.
I married into an Amish family that is mainly old order.
