Bro's, you'll love his "Excitable Boy", "Lawyers, Guns and Money" and "A Certain Girl"!!
And... "Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner!" LOL! Great rabbit hole to go down!
@@writerwade9241talking about the man
"HIS HAIR WAS PERFECT...!"
Such a great line that got added in.
This song was just pure fun! Was great having songs like this to simply belt out while driving down the road!
Popular song at Halloween parties! Just a fun song about werewolves out and about in London having cocktails, eating Chinese food, - "And his hair was perfect!" 😆 The riff is very similar to Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Sweet Home Alabama". Thanks guys!!
Thanks. Yep just a fun fun song ❤🎉🎉
I remember when he passed away. I was genuinely sad.
Warren Zevon: (from 1983 “Off The Record” interview with Mary Turner): Actually, Phil Everly said, in the course of one of these albums he was making, he said, “I need a dance song. Why don’t you write me something. Like “Werewolves of London.” … you have to understand that, if the song is about anything it’s about the kind of friendship where you don’t question what your friends say. Waddy and I have been conversing that way for over a decade, and so we were at LeRoy Marinell’s house in Venice, CA. And we were playing and I was strumming 3 chords. Waddy walked in and said, “What’re you guys doing?” and we said, “We’re doing the Werewolves of London.”
Waddy said, “Ah-oooh, that’s easy.” I said, “That’s great.” We just rapped. Waddy said, “I saw a werewolf with a Chinese menu in his hand” and I’d throw something back.. Crystal wrote everything down… she had this notebook … steno pad she always carried around, for occasions like that, I guess … we’d come up with lines and she’d write them down. It went very fast. ✌from California
My nephew was a toddler when this came out. He used to run around the house howling along with the song. So cute. A good memory. 💛
Love this song, really catchy tune and I've certainly heard it a lot over the years. You can't help singing it after you've heard it! Another good song from Warren Zevon is Lawyers, Guns and Money (1978). By the way, a film you might like to react to sometime on your movie channel, George, is An American Werewolf in London (1981) directed by John Landis. This might be the one you were thinking about. It's got the best transition I've ever seen in a werewolf film. Also got the song Bad Moon Rising (CCR) in it too! Thanks so much for your reaction to this song, guys, take care now, all the best and stay safe.👍❤
It also created great background for the pool scene in the movie, The Color of Money.
His hair was perfect!
Lon Chaney is mentioned as well Lon Chaney Jr., both were icons in classic horror movies, Lon Chaney Sr. was called "The man with a thousand faces", he never wanted his son to follow in hos footsteps but Lon Chaney Jr. wanted prove himself to be as great as his father, I guess. Lon Chaney Jr. was the first actor to star as "The Wolfman" in 1941, he also replaced Boris Karloff in one of the 'Frankenstein' movies. This was great, thanks!
Fun song and lyrics. I believe Mick Fleetwood and John McVie played the drums and bass in this tune as well. It has been said that it is about a well-dressed ladies man, often like a gigolo who comes out at night looking for women. It was very popular when it came out - constantly playing on the radio in the US. Thanks so much guys for posting this one!🧡
Hi Jules, once you hear that song, you can't stop singing it or whistling it! You're right, we used to hear it on the radio all the time in the UK too! 😊😊
@@annemaclean6634 Ha yes Anne, ever since I watched this earlier it has been in my head!😊 Such a funky tune!
@@annemaclean6634 Patrick howling is hilarious😊
@@Jules-um4yy So funny and let's face it, we all do it! 🤣🤣🤣
@@annemaclean6634 So true Anne! My older brother (who Patrick reminds me of) would also go around the house howling all day whenever he heard this song - drove my mother nuts!!😄
Love this song, singing along, you bet, with big howls. so many lovely lines. "id like to meet his taylor."
LOL "tailor"
@@kev7161 ...and his hair was perfect..."
Love it when the Grateful Dead played this at a show - the audience howling along was crazy fun!
Warren Zevon was one of the greatest singer-song writers to emerge from the 1970's. Many of his lyrics are dark, and introspective, and have been covered by other artists. Unfortunately he died of lung cancer in his mid 50s. I suggest you listen to his "Play It All Night Long", and then dive down the Zevon rabbit hole to "Desperadoes Under The Eaves", "Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner", "The French Inhaler", "Mohammed's Radio", "Carmelita", and so much more..
I got to see Warren in a small bar outside Denver back in the day. He was fantastic.
This was written on a dare.
Someone had just watched the movie Werewolves of London. And dared warren and other band members to write a song about it.
With in minutes they had each shot out different phases for the lyrics. One of the wives of the group had written it all down. They hap hazardly wrote the song.
It ended up being set aside.
Years later when warren was putting out another album he dug this up and came up with the song.
The guitar solo took hours and hours looking for the right take.
They eventually settled on the very first rift they laid down as the best. So the guitar solo was first attempt.
Warren really didn't care for the song. He didn't like the idea of it being one of his greatest hits.
He was always ask to play it at every talk show he was on.
He died at the age of 56.
I can remember being in a night club back in the day, and when this song started, everybody got crazy and everybody would start howling. It was crazy. Great memories.😍
Such a great song! Warren Zevon, yeah!
Warren said this song was written as a sort of joke. Became his biggest hit
A really fun song. I am glad to hear it again.
Hey Bros, classic great song
I always loved this song, and like others have already mentioned, Warren’s got a few other gems you should explore. Love the guitar work by Waddy Wachtel (who is also Keith Richard’s lead guitarist for his solo records with the Expensive Winos).
Both Actors Lon Chaney and his son, Lon Chaney Jr. played in Horror movies as Werewolves that were filmed in England.
GRUZIKI!!! Look up the English actor named Lon Chaney! The first actor to play a werewolf in a movie Enjoy!!
Loved this song. Reminds me of my highschool days. ❤️
Love this song!! Yes, I agree with the others about "Lawyers, Guns, and Money"!! The movie you are thinking about is "American Werewolf In London". In my opinion, it's just about a werewolf. LOL! *Lon Chaney and Lon Chaney Jr were actors known for playing "monsters", specifically Wolfman, in movies.
Absolutely, fabulous film from 1981, directed by John Landis. The transition in this film is amazing, one of the best I've ever seen - hope George reacts to it on his movie channel sometime!😊😊
Lon Cheney that was mentioned in the song played the main character in the Hunchback of Notre Dame.
Unique song; it features Stevie Nick's long-time solo guitarist Waddy Wachtel & also Fleetwood Mac's Mick Fleetwood & John McVie...read somewhere Stevie sang background, but not sure;)
Wow!!! nice memories..and fun to watch your reactions, the way I reacted 40 some years ago...howling "ahwoooooo...werewovles of London....ahwooooooo!!!!
"Werewolves" refers to slick guys getting all decked out and going out on the town, "prowling" for women. That's why you see one at Trader Vics (a famous restaurant) whose "hair was perfect." and another says "I'd like to meet his tailor". He's a part of the nightlife crowd looking for brief relationships.
Lawyers.. Guns.. and Money.
Almost 50K bros...!
Love Zevon! Some heavy hitters on this song including Mick Fleetwood on Drums. For something different listen to “Tenderness on the block “
Tom Cruise playing pool in "The Color of Money"
Simple pop and fun lyrics. Don’t overthink it 🎉🎉
The song's just a goof by some of the best studio musicians in L.A.. No hidden meanings. Cheers, --bd
There was also a campy horror movie of the same title. It is notable for the all makeup FX in the change from human to wolf using a stop-motion editing/filming technique instead of computer graphics. The slowly decomposing secondary character has some good makeup FX, too.
This song is in the movie Color of Money with Tom Cruise. It's a great scene with Cruise dancing & playing pool 🎱
Story goes that he was inspired by
the old Universal werewolf movie that was shown one night on tv. Anyhow, beware of London at midnight. 🐺🌕
Refreshingly this song isn't one you have to think too much about. It's about werewolves. In London.
You need to ELO's "Don't Bring Me Down" - official version.
No, you have it wrong. The song All summer Long took its music from a Werewolves of London..
Just a fun song here. Thnx you two. Peace Out ☮️❣️😊
That was a popular restaurant in Soho.x
Check out more of Warren Zevo Please. I recommend, Lawyers Guns & Money, Roland the ( Headless) Thompson Gunner, Poor, Poor Pityful me & Keep me in your Heart.
The song featured in the film Colour of Money where Tom Cruise is showing his skills on a pool table
I don't know, maybe the song was about gigolos. But as a kid who didn't know of such things, I always took it as a commentary of how the unusual and strange (werewolves) was becomming more and more commonplace in society (grabbing Chinese food or drinking at a well known establishment.)
But not that it was a negative commentary or direction for society. Just an observation set to music and lyrics.
I could be completely off though.
The werewolves were supposedly the Gibb Brothers of the Bee Gee's,according to many counts.
Really it's just fun. No deep meaning. But now that you've heard it you'll find yourself "ahooing" every once in a while. And you'll enjoy it.
Watch 'The Colour of Money' where Tom Cruise plays pool with this song playing in the background . . . classic.
Warren was the songwriters' songwriter.
Poor Poor Pitiful Me. Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner. I was in the House when the House Burned Down.,
👍👍👍👍👍
For those who know, and even to those who don't: enjoy every sandwich.
Ahhhoohh!
It's just a fun song and personally, I love both wolves and werewolves so it works for me.
The idea for this song originated with Phil Everly who, after watching the movie Werewolf of London (1935) on late-night television, suggested to Zevon that he adapt the title for a song and dance craze. You have to give credit to Warren Zevon for some of the lyrics such as " I saw a werewolf drinking a pina colada at Trader Vic's. " Just a fun song.....
You should look up Lon Chaney.. he played a werewolf back in the black and white movie days.
I'm not sure there's any deep meaning behind this song. It's more about how werewolves do normal, everyday things, but they also kill people. Zevon had a particularly warped sense of humor.
I agree. Like, they can walk around being well-dressed and natty, then that full moon comes out and they go around mutilating people (including little old ladies).
Sweet Home Alabama - Werewolf in London - All Summer Long.
Two out of three ain't bad
Now you gotta do Kid Rock All Summer Long
Obviously, a great song, but what always comes to mind is Tom Cruise hustling pool to this song in The Color of Money.
I don't want to call this a "novelty song" but it doesn't really reflect the musicianship ( for lack of better word) of Warren Zevon. This is the song most of us heard first but there is just so much more to the man and his music. Sentimental Hygiene was a great album along with Lawyers Guns and Money. Keep digging guys.
Lawn chaney was the fist to play a Where Wolf And remained known as a werewolf, someone who They saw Mr. Chaney, boom creature feature boys. Came out in the sixth. Maybe early 70s. Create your feature
The Color of Money.
Thanks, guys! Warren Zevon had other awesome song... that dumbass (my opinion) Kid Rock totally ripped this one off.. along with Sweet Home Alabama...It was inspired by Bob Seger's song "Night Moves", and also samples "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd and "Werewolves of London" by Warren Zevon... More Zevon would be great!
Lawyers Guns and Money....My Shits Fucked Up....Reconsider Me....Keep Me In Your Heart Awhile
He was sort of a one-hit-wonder...but what a great song!
More of Warren zevon? Check out* Roland the headless Thompson gunner " great song..peace.

Guys react the underrated "born to live" sonh
About male gigalos?
French Inhaler
It's like they took the music from "All summer long" and sang Werewolves of London hahahaha
love it
No, you have it wrong. The song All Summer Long took its music from Werewolves of London..
Lawd have mercy
There aren't many songs I can say I absolutely hate... but this is definately one of them. Ugh!!!!
Now you gotta do Kid Rock All Summer Long
No you really don't. XD
