to be fair, Zeno is far from being "ruthless". He is an assassin indeed, but he takes his job very seriouslu, with precision, accuracy and without any unnecessary deaths. He refused to kill Chrollo when there were no more bounty for his head, explaining that "assasin kills not for his own enjoyment but because it's their business". So when for the first time he accidentally injured totaly unexpected person, he was indeed shocked because of his fisrt mistake in his entire career as an assassin and at the same time deeply touched by act of care and pure love showed by the "chimera ant monster" that Meruem was, or rather Zeno expected him to be.

It was about the fact that he had expected to meet a ruthless inhumane chimera ant and Meruem's behaviour and his caring for the girl was a surprise to him. This is supported by the narrator himself which narrates that Zeno's remark was not out of place considering the situation.

I really don't understand why people say that chimera ant arc was the worst. It was so good. Maybe they are salty because of the lack of leorio and Kurapika but that doesn't change the fact that the chimera ant arc was so beautiful and well written. I cried so hard for Meruem in the end. HunterxHunter is so beautiful. I am so happy I watched it.
fr, it was one of my favorite arcs. especially cause we get to see gon and killuas nen on another level. all the interesting new characters kinda made up for the absence of leorio and kurapika.
I cried 3 times just at this episode.. first when meruem was getting on his knees to beg palm for help finding komugi he even repeated after himself, second when meruem was telling komugi how he's "meeting" with his royal guards soon and said he's "unworthy of their loyalty" and third when it goes dark bcs meruem is slowly losing his sight and life and komugi finally got to "see" the "person" she was playing gungi with by feeling up his face that was the final blow for me :((
The whole arc beautifully describes how the loss of a close one led to Gon (a human) losing his humanity and how finding someone worthy led to Meruem (a chimera ant) finding his humanity. Beautifully describing the contrast of emotions in all living beings!

Yeah, especially when you consider that all of them, with the possible exception of Pouf (who I personally feel recognized just how misguided his actions were when Meruem remembered Komugi), could have become pretty good people, as there were signs, like Pitou legitimately feeling empathy for Gon or Youpi developing a moral code.

He wasnt going by his judgement or feelings alone (well yes, but only at the start, after a while of doing that he realised what he was doing and corrected himself), but taking the objectively best possible course of action. Let's be honest for a second. If Meruem's memories about Komugi hadn't came back to him, he probably wouldve ruled the ant kingdom the best... whoops. I just realised while writing this that, there is no 'best' way to rule a kingdom. It all comes down to the king's action. So Pouf had no business to try to make Meruem rule the kingdom the way he wanted him to. No, the way he should've, but still. On a side note, Meruem left Pouf alive due to how loyal he was. But yeah you're right, I still believe Pouf wouldve been a good guy if he wasnt so overly loyal to Meruem to the point of borderline, technically "backstabbing(??)" him. Anyway all learned from this is that Pouf is a complex character lol my mind went vrooouuu and I got confused midway through writing this

Yeah but look at us humans, we keep other species (cows and pigs and other animals) in facilities to eat them. Alot of what the ants were doing is basically what we are doing. (Taking over lands, eating other species to be able to survive, trying to be in control.) Humans are pretty damn evil if you ask me.

For me, he was like a child who initially knows nothing, a little lost and who only follows his animal instinct. Then comes the moment when he realizes what he wants to do but also the moment when everything ends. His story made me really sad, it's the only moment in HxH where I cried

The only thing that made me cry so hard was the fact he was king and he bowed to another ant another being that was not stronger than him just so he can see her. He deeply cared for her.. enough to let his pride down. The story of merumem and yomugi is beautifully written its true love the compasión of yomugi calms merumem and when she whent unconscious he snaped because the only one who treated him with love was wounded the simple act of playing a boardgame made a connection that could never be broken like real world love 💕
Plus the fact that she accepted a marriage proposal from him right before they die makes it all the more tragic: she states "Though I may not be worthy, allow me to go with you", which is an old-fashioned way for Japanese women to accept a marriage proposal. Damn now I feel even more sad.
He lived the way he was taught at first. He is technically just a child that needed time to know what's right and what's wrong. But along the way, and in a short period of time, his morals started to improve. He gradually became a human, especially with the help of Komugi. His death made me real sad. I kinda wish both Komugi and Meruem lived like the other Chimera ants.
Until now, I can't stop myself from crying whenever I watch this AMV and be reminded again about Meruem and Komogi sad love story. And please tell me I ain't the only one with this feelings.
This anime teach me a lot about spiritual stuff, like the importance of meditation, manifest aura and so on. Also about visualization, our mind is very strong! And of course this anime has value and principles! yeah gotta admit I cried a lot :'(♥

Yeah, especially when you consider that all of them, with the possible exception of Pouf (who I personally feel recognized just how misguided his actions were when Meruem remembered Komugi), could have become pretty good people, as there were signs, like Pitou legitimately feeling empathy for Gon or Youpi developing a moral code.
@@user-zi7qd1fy7d Not gonna lie Pouf was the most loyal out of the three. Not the loyal type of only obeying the orders no talking back, but the loyal to disobey when its best for the master. He wasnt going by his judgement or feelings alone (well yes, but only at the start, after a while of doing that he realised what he was doing and corrected himself), but taking the objectively best possible course of action. Let's be honest for a second. If Meruem's memories about Komugi hadn't came back to him, he probably wouldve ruled the ant kingdom the best... whoops. I just realised while writing this that, there is no 'best' way to rule a kingdom. It all comes down to the king's action. So Pouf had no business to try to make Meruem rule the kingdom the way he wanted him to. No, the way he should've, but still. On a side note, Meruem left Pouf alive due to how loyal he was. But yeah you're right, I still believe Pouf wouldve been a good guy if he wasnt so overly loyal to Meruem to the point of borderline, technically "backstabbing(??)" him. Anyway all learned from this is that Pouf is a complex character lol my mind went vrooouuu and I got confused midway through writing this

Yeah but look at us humans, we keep other species (cows and pigs and other animals) in facilities to eat them. Alot of what the ants were doing is basically what we are doing. (Taking over lands, eating other species to be able to survive, trying to be in control.) Humans are pretty damn evil if you ask me.

For me, he was like a child who initially knows nothing, a little lost and who only follows his animal instinct. Then comes the moment when he realizes what he wants to do but also the moment when everything ends. His story made me really sad, it's the only moment in HxH where I cried

He lived the way he was taught at first. He is technically just a child that needed time to know what's right and what's wrong. But along the way, and in a short period of time, his morals started to improve. He gradually became a human, especially with the help of Komugi. His death made me real sad. I kinda wish both Komugi and Meruem lived like the other Chimera ants.
Until now, I can't stop myself from crying whenever I watch this AMV and be reminded again about Meruem and Komogi sad love story. And please tell me I ain't the only one with this feelings.
