It's honestly astonishing how good Trey's serve is for someone so new to the sport. The willingness to go out and train solo amd record his progress has given him a massive leg up on most beginners.
Yes I do the same thing! Ball machine for groundstrokes and volley. Ball hopper for serve. Too bad they don't make ball machines to practice return of serve.
I don't like the people who are like "if you start after 7 years old you'll peak at 4.0" etc. It's so unrealistic. I am 4.5 after playing since probably 15 years old seriously so 10 years experience and I'll get to 5.0 pretty easily soon!
@@sjp4565 Two teammates of mine started at 3.0, having never played tennis before and are both 4.5 after 3 years. One of them got to 4.5 in TWO years getting double bumped from 3.5 to 4.5. in 2023. It's for sure attainable for anyone that is athletic and willing to put in the time. Those guys both put in 75-100 USTA league matches per year and probably played tennis 250+ days out of the year their first year playing league. They were professional poker players, so they had very easy schedules to work with. No commitments to a 9-5 job. They started after quarantine. We won some USTA national titles together too (3.0 in 2021, 3.5 18+, 3.5 40+, and 6.0 in 2022) 🙂🙃🙂 BTW @winnersonlytennis, hit us up if you ever make it out to Vegas!
Great playing, Trey! Let's do it again soon :)
Great job on turning around your service at 7-2! Your consistency has significantly improved. Blood, sweat and progress!
Great playing!I dont think you were blown off the court by any means. Biggest difference between levels is being able to pick apart your opponents weakness and stick to a strategy. His comment about playing doubles is great advice. Would love to see some doubles progression on this channel and I think developing your net game would be an easy/massive improvement.
Go to a racquetball wall and hit easy paced, smooth backhands for 30 minutes without any long breaks. Do that 2 or 3 times a week for 6 months, and your backhand will be a level or 2 stronger. Then go play matches and keep using the off forehand as often as possible. The forehand is your sword, and the backhand is your shield.
Good stuff Trey you didn’t give up not once!💪
Great video! Love the post-match analysis and positive vibes from Sam after the set - said many things that I could relate to myself!
I know it won't always feel like it because your standards are high (not a bad thing!), but your improvement is clear. You are hitting more challenging punishing forehands. Your serve is getting more consistent. You are staying in the points longer. Great work Trey!
i respect the akira shirt
You played so much better than the score. And yes, that first kick serve was ridiculous!
9:17 good job hitting the ball on the rise that's the first time I seen you do that
You played really well Trey. Backhand is looking a lot more solid. 2nd serves are getting more consistent too. Forehand spacing much better. Amazing how much you have improved. 💪
great game and wonderful post-match conversation~ been binging on your videos nonstop. Can't believe how quickly you are improving mate. Awesome stuff left and right!
Sam is a beast, one of the best guys on and off the court!
Thanks, buddy! Hope we can get some doubles in soon :)
The two improvement i would suggest that can realistically give you immediate feedback is shot selection and split step. Your bh still force through the arms but at this level and higher you should prevent jaming up. Otherwise your level won't go further up. Keep up the good work
Those serves are looking great with that Ezone. Great playing overall.
How the hell do you get this good at tennis in 1 freaking year? Please, meet up with me in Wisconsin and teach me your ways. I just got super into the game last month and I'm figuring it out.
He has had some extraordinarily good coaching, haha
Time on court. Deliberate practice, almost every day. Trey was practicing like a "teenager". The issue for most adults is time. Apparently Trey has that luxury. Oviously he has some athletic basics that translate to tennis, but the other most important factor there is time practicing.
360g racquet is just wow. That guy must have some serious strength.
your serve is there. 4.5 serve 1st and second all the way. As you know the backhand is whats holding you back. That and learning to control your spin on your forehand more and gaining consistency and youre there.
that Akira shirt is fire
Good match Trey, here are some constructive feedback: you clearly doesn’t trust your BH, lot of situations you put yourself out of the court and choose to hit it with FH some balls you can’t attack.
Try to rotate little more your left hip in a driving forward motion, if there’s no time just stay low and drive it with your shoulders
I had to pause the video to say the akira shirt goes hard
Sam is a good player, I'm pretty sure he was going 75% here. I played him as well, lost in close sets though, I know how he plays. Nevertheless, you got 3 games out of him; good progress!
Great play! Sam is right. You are underrated as a 5 UTR. Looking better every video! A big difference this set is shot tolerance and experience tbh. If you keep it up, you will be 5.0 ntrp within the next 3-4 years imo. I would start playing some doubles and maybe learn to serve and volley.
Forehand keeping the racket at the side in holding pattern waiting for ball may decrease your power. Since you have time, maybe bring the racket back further in alignment with shoulders and rip it.
Your game is coming on Trey! Serves looking better.
These match ups are great and opponents seem to be pleasant types!
The only way to get better is to play those better than you. If you hit your groundstrokes as hard as your serve, you're results will improve. Great videos.
Man good game. Akira!!
10:52 probably the best slice backhand you’ve ever hit in your life. You maintained the angle between racket and forearm and didn’t try and “wrist” the racket head forward. Spread left and right arm apart like baseball umpire “safe sign” for maintaining balance. It’s easy to pay attention to the bad shots but you should also study the good mutations. Sometimes buy chance/mistake you can do the right thing or just less of the technical impediments. By studying how the mechanics differ from your normal technique you can make those freak chance above average occurrences the new normal.
I think Sam’s serve at 13:13 was out.
Looks like the same court we played!
Do you change racket every match? Now the new ezone
Can we have a video about your journey with your rackets from beginning to end
Sick Akira shirt ❤️
you played so well in this. I thought we were similar levels, but not if you play like that...
Where is the info about your own equipment? You swap rackets between each match lately but no info.
how are you liking the ezone? are you using 98 or 100?
Trey is team Yonex now too 😄
YOUR SERVE IS QUITE GOOD, interested to see you play with wintson.
What camera do you use?
you are playing SO well. ❤
I have a feeling that NorCal 4.5s would destroy Sam, I dunno maybe that's just what I experienced.
Nice match. Sam started out a bit tight but by the end of the set you could see his ability. Let me know if any of yall pass through oklahoma. I would be willing to play.
I'm always willing to meet up. I visit family in Joplin, MO so not sure where you are in OK but could possibly do a hit and a video :)
Great match! Hope you do rematch some day
Amazing tennis!
Is that k-pop and if it is how are you liking it
yeah it is. I see myself using it for the foreseeable future
This dude is#1 4.5 in Texas? He was taking it easy I guess...? That or we are built different down here in Florida... no offense.
Trey plays like Trey now. I think this racket matches you. Just need a liitle bit more lift on your trajectory. Try lowering tension or change to shaped poly
How tall is Trey?
6'4"!
sam is good
You’re struggling on return serve a bit
You could probably hit a great 1 handed backhand.
How come u don’t record with swing vision?
Swingvision only allows up to 1080p unfortunately. That's my assumption at least.
1080p plus it would cut out all commentary
They do 4k now.
@@Jondaliner they have 4K now but at extra charge
@@vicplaystennis9158 must be pretty new. I looked like 2 months ago and didn’t sign up due to it maxing out at 1080p.
You’re not even hitting that sht!
This guy more like a 3.5 instead of 4.5
You foot fault a bit frequently, I think.
