What I admire most about Wes is the musicality of his solos. Countless jazz guitarists play solos that are essentially endless runs, arpeggios, and "licks". Wes' solos are like original compositions, with each note judiciously crafted in a weave of artistic creativity.
I still love Coletrane's cascading sheets and waves of sound, though, in his heroin years. John Coletrane did evolve it more after he got clean though, but shear stream of consciousness and blasts of notes is impressive to me. I just love all the jazz greats of the bebop era, one of my favorite genres and times in music.

Beautifully stated . Often you just hear a lot of noise, but hardly an inch of soul. Man is truly speaking through his instrument
His guitar communicates to your ears down to your soul
I agree. His solos, like Bird's, are always beautiful melodies in and of themselves.
