      That was my concern, they would accidently disrespect the flag?
      If they removed it, did they fold it correctly (after hanging it to dry)?

    • @ronelsen6585
      @ronelsen6585 11 месяцев назад +5

      I agree, love Mike and Aaron, but would be lying if I didn't say I was a little disappointed seeing the Flag on the ground, was hoping they were going to remove it when they brought the block down, showing her some respect. We all can do better.

    • @mikel9567
      @mikel9567 11 месяцев назад +6

      While I agree it should have been kept off the ground, it barely touched the ground and it looks like they took it off when they noticed it wouldn't be high enough. They show far more respect to our flag and our country than most people. If a flag briefly touches the ground because its attached to a working, american built piece of equipment I'm not going to complain or whine too much. It's not like the flags our soldiers fly never accidentally touch the ground. Save your whining for the people who are truly disrespecting the flag.

      @@mikel9567You need to educate yourself on protocol of handling the US flag many have died and killed for that flag but I can tell you’ve never been in the US military or you would know what has to be done to a flag that touched the ground it’s called respect and protocol but you just keep on over looking that bud.

    Thanks for the update gentlemen, great vid, it’s all about the little details that make it finished and nicer to operate. I ask a favor of you, try to keep the Stars and Stripes off the ground, I know it happens at times by accident, and again, thanks for flying the flag on an American built equipment. We have a great country sir.

    I give Mike and Aaron an A+ in design and fabrication. Can’t imagine the money spent investing in tools and shop equipment nor the amount saved in just time and money by fabricating parts and tools for maintenance of their own equipment. As old as the drag is, just about anything you do will probably require design and fabrication..lol. Great video DP.

    Hello from the Netherlands.
    Hi Mike, I'm also going to put something made of plexiglass in the place where there used to be real glass, also to keep the weather and vermin out of the cabin?? .
    and then adding a "Dirt Perfect" logo in an old style and nice font also seems very nice and stylish to me .
    thanks for the video DP and Aaron .

One last message from an old guy would be to start protecting your eyesight, hearing and finger protection every time, especially when working on old and loud equipment from an era when PPE was not considered important. It honestly does sneak up on you!

    boy I got to tell you this brings back memories. Very nostalgic. My grandfather ran a drag line for nearly 40 years. Back in the late 70's early 80's I remember sitting with my grandfather as he worked on his crane. Typically out in the field. He worked many a farm out in the San Joaquin Valley in California (Bakersfield, Wasco, McFarlane, etc). Cleaning tail pits, irrigation ditches, and settling ponds mostly. During the day it was hot, dusty, and miserable. (especially for an 8yo). But boy, once the light started to fade, my younger brother and I would run along the irrigation ditches trying to catch frogs. And boy howdy, those frogs were almost bigger than we were. I remember one that grandpa measured for us was over 3 feet tip of nose to tip of toe stretched out. If we managed to catch enough, he would cook up some frog legs for us. Watching you work on that brought back so many memories, more so when I spotted that Folders can full of nuts and bolts. I remember having to lug that can around for years and seeing one while you were working just flooded the memories.

    I learned in a Cat powered 22B almost 50 years ago. My old neighbor bought it new in 1947 set up as dragline and also shovel front, which was never installed. He paid just under $17,000 for it, a lot back then. On his he hinged those catwalk brackets on the sides so they could be easily folded up to make it narrower for transport. Too bad yours was repowered, in my book the Cat is a lot easier on the ears having run both.

    I'm going to help Aaron here and point out that somebody did already put plastic on that machine, at 45:24 electrical insulation tape is visible around a couple of struts near his left arm where you ran lines for temperature and oil gages and that orange cable sheath between the rocker arm cover and the air filter housing looks like it is coated in plastic as well!😁

    Not sure how much Coke is like Pepsi, But a good friend of mine used to drink 3 or 4 or 5 everyday, ended up losing half of his guts and almost died. Caution. He actually bought a coke machine for his office, he was in-charge of rebuilding the diesel engines for the Mexican railroad. Great guy
