I always wondered why his character wasn't in the third act, then found out he was killed by a drunk driver so they rewrote the movie and dedicated it to him.
This is sad but true as others have said. From IMDB: Died in an automobile accident while UHF (1989) was being filmed. The driver of the other vehicle pleaded guilty to drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter. Silva's wife and two-year old son suffered minor injuries in the accident.
I have a hand vacuum with a transparent shell that I use to suck up uninvited wasps, and every time I get one I shake it up and hit them with that line. One day one of them will figure out how to bypass the hatch though 😂
Rabid dog lovers drive me nuts and I want to show them this and I think doing this kind of stuff to rat sized dogs can be funny. Another case in point: The "Faster Fifi" cartoon from The Far Side.
At least it’s actually about animals, right? They had that midget show on there for a while. It’s in the title, you jerks: “Little PEOPLE, Big World”. XD
I love how Raul already has a large mound of poodles forming. (You can see it in the shot where he throws Gigi out the window.) "Oh, man!" We all miss you, Trinidad.
you forgot the part where a truck delivered some badgers and he says "Badgers? We don't need no stinking badgers!" This would have been an excellent tv show for real
@@PieterPatrick It's a reference to the '48 film, _Treasure of Sierra Madre._ This band of thieves are impersonating agents of the Federales, and when someone asks to see their badges, their leader says "Badges? We don't got no badges! We don't need no stinking badges!"
UHF is one of the best movies of all time, I was listening and watching Weird Al when I was 3-4 years old and never stopped (23 now)... But sadly many people didn't know this but "Raul" (AKA: Trinidad Silva) died in a 1989 car accident while UHF was being filmed. The driver of the other vehicle pleaded guilty to drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter. Silva's wife and two-year old son suffered minor injuries in the accident. He has a dedication in the end credits of "UHF".
God bless Trinidad Silva's sweet soul. This was such a contrast to the role he played in Hill Street Blues. Then again, he was also in The Jerk. Love this movie, and love Raoul Hernandez's scenes. I think it's funny how one of the poodles is on his leg trying to get his attention, after he's just thrown Foofy out the window. Great scene from a very funny movie.
The best part is the actual pile of dogs under his apartment window. OH MAN ! What I love about this carachter is that every emotion he goes with he is 100% with. When he's exited he's REAL exited and when he's depressed because hes poodle didn't fly, he's actually depressed. I'm just cracking my self up typing this shit. Oh lord this movie has timeless humor.
i had this movie on VHS tape, recorded from TV. One of my favorite movies when i was a kid. I watched it a zillion times with 2 of my friends who also liked the kind of humar, naturally those where my best friends because u have to be a certain someone to be on the same level. The dont make movies like this anymore and i have no clue where those two friends are now. I miss those times.
Trinidad Silva’s death occurred during production of the 1989 "Weird Al" Yankovic film UHF. Parts of the film had to be rewritten since he had not finished filming his part. The film was dedicated to his memory.
So I was wondering why Raul didn't have more scenes in the movie, this and the badgers part was funny as hell. I was wondering why he wasn't shown anymore after that. Didn't know he died.
I actually read that the actor who played this guy died in 1988, and he didn't finish filming his scenes. He was 38 when he was hit by a car and died and they had to rewrite scenes because of this.
Hilarious! R.I.P. Trinidad. Such a tragedy. Al explained on the commentary that after Trinidad was killed, he hadn't even filmed all of his scenes. His first scene was going to be as his "day job" as a package delivery man who mistakenly brings the package for Channel 8 to channel 62, so they had to change it to Fran Drescher's character. They also had a scene at the telethon where the poodles getting their revenge on him, which they actually shot and you can briefly see in the deleted scenes section. They had a body double running out with a fake poodle covering his face, but ultimately, they chose not to use it.
Trivia: This is Trinidad Silva, who was a successful character actor in Hollyweird. He died, 7/31/1988, in a car accident while filming UHF. The film was dedicated to his memory.
He was in Steve Martin's "the Jerk", Colors and a bunch of other movies in the 70s and 80s. Unfortunately, he died in an auto accident around the time UHF was made.
this movie was so far ahead of its time that nobody realized it was one of the greatest movies ever made.
Blank Space ah maaaaaan!
This movie was the best. Too bad it challenged poor summer blockbusters.
Exactly, years later folks like Steve Irwin were doing shit exactly like this as a living.
It went up against Indiana Jones .
Your gaddamn right it was, brilliant movie.
I live in the apartment they used in this scene in Tulsa, Oklahoma!
😻
Let's stalk her!
@@alansands256 bad idea. @Kelsey How about if you offer tours for an admission fee?
offer tours and charge admission.
Really??? That's pretty cool.
My favorite part of this scene was always George and Bob sitting there trying to figure out which one of them hired him.
Apple Woods haha same!
That was hilarious
I always wondered why his character wasn't in the third act, then found out he was killed by a drunk driver so they rewrote the movie and dedicated it to him.
GabrielC38 BULLSHIT! He was all sniffed out on some GOLD SPRAY PAINT - pinche GLUFO.
Just imagine how funny the movie would have been if he was in the third act.
Vergón 666 it’s totally true
well that just puts a damper on the scene now
This is sad but true as others have said. From IMDB: Died in an automobile accident while UHF (1989) was being filmed. The driver of the other vehicle pleaded guilty to drunken driving and vehicular manslaughter. Silva's wife and two-year old son suffered minor injuries in the accident.
Raul (After shaking the ant farm)-"Oh, look! They're really mad, now!"
My dad still quotes that regularly to this day.
Yes, that line is a classic.
Raul must have been the prototype of Steve Irwin.
I have a hand vacuum with a transparent shell that I use to suck up uninvited wasps, and every time I get one I shake it up and hit them with that line. One day one of them will figure out how to bypass the hatch though 😂
Seeing the little pile of dogs on the ground makes me laugh every time! That and the BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK BARK! THUD! 😁
Leon Leys "Oh, MAN!"

The look on Foofees face gets me
".... ah, Man!?"
He had some of the best parts of the movie. I wish he would have gotten to see how loved of a character he was.
"Badgers? Badgers??...We don't need no stinking badgers!!!"
I haven't got it... Why does Raul hate badgers?
@@diymicha4905 It's a reference to a very famous, often parodied movie line: "Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!"
Still better than most of the programs on Animal Planet

Rest in peace, sir--you were awesome in Colors, too.
"Where did you *find* this guy?!"

0:40 just realized that this is where he puts the real turtle down and picks up the fake one to throw in the air haha. Movie magic
you forgot the part where a truck delivered some badgers and he says "Badgers? We don't need no stinking badgers!" This would have been an excellent tv show for real
That was the only joke I did not understand in the movie.

He didn't want no stinking badgers because they are ornery unfriendly creatures.

We should find the drunk driver who killed Silva and reach him how to fly.
true. maybe he has drunk him self to death by know
Teach him to fly...over the grand canyon.
The part where he shakes the ant farm is probably the best, "They REALLY hate it when you do this."

The look on George and Bob's Faces is priceless.

What’s most impressive is that such a small channel, with such a small budget, had 3 cameras with 3 cameramen on location at Raul’s apartment.

camera
