The final song is brutal. Spend some time with the lyrics, they fit right in. Silco dying is sad because once again Jinx killed someone she didn’t mean to. You’re sad for her. You can see how it finally breaks her. “Even though I’m... different”. This show was perfect

@10:58 when he hears about Jinx, Silco's eyes wander for just half a second. Those little micro emotions really show to me, how great the animation studio behind the show really is.

YES! I noticed that subtle yet revealing detail as well... on my second watch-through. It was yet another indication that Jinx was the ONLY thing Silco could not give up, and this caught him off guard as he frantically tries to think of something to say that would make Jayce reconsider. I underestimated the show during my first watch-through and didn't fully realize and appreciate all these wonderful little touches that make subsequent watches equally engaging.

    Silco was such great character.
He built an empire off his conviction of no compromise.
After the time skip, he was operating under the lie that he could avoid compromising either his empire or Jinx, and when he is forced to choose between the two, he chooses Jinx.
He spends his last moments living out his conviction, by not compromising in his love for her, and his desire to protect and strengthen her. He knows what she went through, last time she accidentally killed her family, and felt guilty and blamed for it, so he spends his last breaths sparing her from repeating the same fate.
It is a truly selfless, uncompromising act as a father, and no matter how flawed, creepy, and unhealthy their relationship was on the whole, it is a beautiful moment.

One thing to point out... Renni the Chembaron has her kid working at the Shimmer Factory... is a sign of the way that the people of the underground view the Shimmer factory.
Ie as a vehicle for Upward mobility. A way to not have to do things like Work in the Mines. A relatively safe job that your kids can do and help support the family without being in danger.
Remember what happened with the Chem Barons scene where Silco was reminding them of the Previous conditions everyone endured.
To these people Shimmer is a source of Prestige, Wealth, and most of all Hope...

For the scene where Sevika kills Finn, they definitely didn’t talk about it beforehand. It could’ve gone either way which is why he was so frazzled after sevika slashed her sword. I love that scene because they don’t play up the usual trope of the winning party being unfazed by the ordeal and actually show that he didn’t know what the end result would be.

I mean the whole 'Oh it all makes sense now brother' monologue at Vander's statue Silco not only understood why Vander abandons the cause but he discovered the one thing he won't do, 'power comes to those who will do anything' insert Meatloaf: 'but I won't do that'. He abandoned not only Zaun but also what he respected in himself for Jinx. And Juxtapose that to Mel's mother 'I sent you away because I couldn't stand the look in your eyes when I had to make hard decisions..."

Don't feel bad, I cried. Last time I shed a tear over something on screen was 1999 at the end of Saving Private Ryan when Ryan as an old man knelt at the grave and said to his wife; 'Tell me I'm a good man. Tell me I've lead a good life.' 22 years since something hit me in the feels like this. For me calling this show the best game adaptation or best animated TV series is an understatement; it belongs on the S tier with Movies like The Godfather and TV shows like Breaking Bad.
There are two 'maybe' foreshadows in the Singed ending clip: First is it looks like Warwick hanging there and in the lore Singed created Warwick. Speculation is its Vander as Vander was called 'Hound of the Under City'. In the second season tease you hear Warwick's howl when he chases and enemy in game. The second is that the picture in the locket he's looking at looks a lot like Oriana. The lore doesn't have Singed as Oriana's father but it wouldn't be too hard to alter the lore or find a hole to make Singed shop owner, which is all we know about Oriana's father. Oriana was saved by her father by making her more or less a magic android. That's also what Victor becomes in what he and the cult he starts calls 'The Great Evolution' and with Singed connection to Victor it would be on brand.
In the lore Victor and Jayce were close before having a major falling out. That's not far from Vi and Jinx in the lore; not specified they were sisters but Jinx taunts Vi constantly at all her jobs/jokes with notes before, during and after her hi-jinx and Vi is single mindedly obsessed with capturing Jinx. This goes beyond normal to the point many had speculated that they must be sisters to have that level of obsession with each other, Netcit here on his Lore RUclips channel for one.
Other things, I think the warlord Mel's mom is worried about might be Draven but that might not fit, he's Noxian and a warlord. It would be way cool because that might mean Rivan will be a character and Rivan is one of my favorite characters with a great lore story and she's a badass.

1:40 Another nice detail about Viktor running at the dock is that he is doing it reversely. Like in occidental cultures movement and writing starts from the left and goes to the right, as when he was a kid but couldn't keep up with the boat. But now he can even surpass them but he's not evolving (left to right), he is kinda devolving (right to left).
I think that's a metaphor for his body and physical condition improving while his mind and ideals are actually degenerating.

There is speculation that Warwick is actually Vander being experimented on by Singed. The established Warwick lore fits this theory with the convincing line. "Warwick struggled to recall a single memory from his past... All he could see was blood. But then he heard a little girl screaming. Screaming something he couldn’t understand. It sounded like a name." Seems like he overheard Powder screaming out for Vi not to leave her.

    • @danii7584
      @danii7584 3 года назад

that one seems obvious. also there's a chance the rat from the beginning is twitch, and there's some speculation that sky ties into kai'sa and that silco will have some reincarnation as fiddle or somebody else to face warwick, but chances are most of those are dead, bringing them all back would be cheap. even the one on warwick seems questionable.
we will get some glorious evolution though :)

@Graxxor Anandro Vidhelssen you casually skipped over the fact that she backstabbed Vander.
The only reason she wasted Finn, was because between the two, Silco was still the more reliable leader to serve.
If someone whom she believe to be more competent for the cause shows up, she will not hesitate to slash Silco.

To add on to this. Sevika can see clearly how Silco cares about Jinx, and how he is turning to a version of Vander who put his daughter as the first priority. She knows that he is getting weak, but still she decided at the end not to betray Silco, which prove that she have changed since her time with Vander.

@@bhumiraksmith4656 Yeah I think I read a comment on another reaction vid that says it better : Sevika is not loyal to a person, but to the cause.
The talk about loyalty probably also hinted to her that Silco, despite being caring toward Jinx and allowing her mistakes, still has Zaun's best interests in mind, which is why Finn bit the dust.
Btw Vander completely gave up the fight , which is why she ended up despising him and betraying him.

It’s really interesting and different how they treat violence in this show. Vander teaches against it, and throughout the show, the isn’t really ever a good outcome for fighting. The only possible exception is Vi vs. Sevika in this episode but even that caused Vi to get captured by jinx. And it never treats any death as a good thing. It kind of goes with what you said about how we’re never happy when anyone dies. Violence is never really treated as the solution, even when so many characters think it is.

The beauty of Arcane is that you can understand all the characters (not necessarily agree but see where they are coming from). I think all the deaths are sad because of this, it's a character driven show, no plot driven.

In the announcement video for season 2 there is some dialogue for Caitlyn, Vi, and Jinx; so those 3 characters will be back, Not much more is known beyond that. It very strongly hints at Cassandra (Caitlyn's mom) being dead and that Vi goes after Jinx. I'm super worried there will be a scene where the sisters fight and it's going to be heartbreaking. I'm like worried that one of the sisters might kill other or something. That would be too hard. I've watched this show 3 times already and it's such an emotional roller coaster and so many moments where I was thinking: "Oh no!" Season 2 looks like it will be more of the same, it's going to be good but I'm probably going to cry. .

22:35 Well, you ask who that is. Heres is what tells us where some emotional damage will be in season 2. If you dont want spoilers dont open this comment more.
Warwick has specific voice lines to Vi, saying "The fear in your eyes... I've seen it before.", "Zuan needed you!", and "Who taught you to punch?". This makes the most voicelines to one character. He also says "You were there..." to Jinx. To anyone, he says "I ran these streets - now it's your turn to run!", and "I became the monster i always was.".
And here we go. In Arcane, only one character fits all this. Ran the underground. Vi's mentor who taught her to punch, who feared him when she saw him filled with shimmer. Who was always told he was truely a monster.
A man called the Hound of the Undercity. Vander.

She showed her first appearance as "jinx" when she jinxed herself and killed her entire family, besides Vi. When Vi left, Silco was the only family she had. In the end, she jinxed herself again, and killed him too. It's impossible to go back now. She's Jinx. The most tragic character in Arcane. Truly lives up to her name 💙

We have a game- so we can deduce: Jace alive and kicking, Victor (probably) protect him with his body, bcose in-game Viktor is highly modified, so i assume he lost\injured most of his body, atleast he complete his body-transformation afterward and resolve his illness issue. But everybody else - most likely is dead

  • @DoremiFasolatido1979
    @DoremiFasolatido1979 3 года назад +2

There's nobody's death you can cheer for in this...because death is never something you should cheer about.
    .
Death is ultimately inevitable, all things end...and sometimes what we call an "untimely" death is necessary to the continuation of others' lives. But death is always the ending of something, the loss of something. It might lead to some new beginning, or further preserve the other life that already is, but everything comes at a cost. Life cannot exist without death, and death is always the loss of life. Even if no one loves a particular individual, they were still a person who needed help...not a monster to be slain and discarded.
    .
Death is never something to praise.

One correction with the recap: Viktor didn't inject himself with shimmer last episode before contacting the hex core since he already ran out. That's likely the reason it wasn't really working effectively and didn't fix him.

Viktor and Jayce - are canon League-champions, and will survive the explosion.
How though... is a big mystery. I suspect Viktor's Hexcore enhancements are probably going to come in clutch.
But (They will despise you...)-Singed. Comes to mind.
Rando#1: "Why save Jayce, and not the other council members?"
Rando#2: "You're from Zaun-of course you were in on it and survived the attack!"
Rando#3: "The Zaunites planned this all along, look- they had a spy in the council. (forget Marcus)"
    - Then you might have Jayce, have survivor's guilt and re-direct some of his frustration towards Viktor. There's alot of possibilities on the fallout. One thing for sure Arcane 2 (If not a continuation) will definitely have the Noxans involved.

"Is there anything so undoing as a daughter"
    - Mel and her mom
    - Cait and her mom
    - Jinx and Silco
    - Vi and Vander
All the parents here show their soft spots for their daughter, even Mel's mom when she stated that she banished her because she made her weak. The woven, minute details man...
The way the music always just cuts the moment something goes south. They make you feel every single blow.
I feel like that fact that Jinx went from loud and somewhat clumsey/very flashy, to quiet and stealthy really gives her a sense of deadliness she didn't have before. Yea, she was manic/crazy/good with he weapons, but this is a whole new level.
That final bit with Silco - he just wanted Vi to stop. He saw she had the wrong words and he was willing to do whatever it took to shut her up - and Jinx reacted protectively. I've been seeing people say this was proof she loved Vi more, deep down, but in all honesty I think she would have done the same to Vi if the roles were reversed. She would instinctively protect those she loved - and in this case, I think she truly loved them equally. Silco she had proof with, but Vi she had history and hope in equal pull.
I'm not a drinker and I understood that beer chug lol.
I just had a realization. Vi never once admonished or showed Jinx in any way that she loved her less than being different. She did show fear, but that was understandable - she knew Jinx loved Silco and still killed him, so what hope did she have of having any other line that Jinx wouldn't cross. Jinx's proclaimation that she knew Vi couldn't love her for who she was now may have been more of an internalization, becuase I don't think she likes who she is herself.
So not a single League champ has died yet. I'm torn between hoping it stays that way and that it doesn't. It's a peace of mind knowing my favorites will be immortal, but also feels.. cheaty. I have a feeling that is a setup to get us comfortable. I remember back in the day, when they were going to rework one of the champs, they put out a cinematic of them possibly dying and then removed them from teh roster. Can't for the life of me remember who it was. Since this isn't cannon to the game's lore, I wouldn't put it past them to actually kill some of these champs.... though I am not sure how the community would handle that lol.
Great shows my man. Very nice to enjoy this with you.

I 100% expect this show - at some point - to kill a champion. Just because no one thinks they will. Just because people are already assuming Champion = safe.
As far as I'm concerned all the champions surviving S1 is just set up to be able to knock us on our asses in S2 or S3.

Killmonger is as well written. But badly executed. Gus in Breaking Bad is as well written but he's nowhere near as morally grey as Silco. Daenerys Targaryen is as well written but didn't translate their status as a villain very well and obviously completely botched the heel turn.
There are antagonists that are as well written but they always have some problem whether its execution, black and white issues, etc. Its very rare to get such a well written villain which is also delivered property.

People keep asking why the Council has such a strong negative response to Jayce's proposed peace plan.
    .
Imagine you live in a huge community of opulent homes, and the staff that keeps everything up, all live in a bunch of "guest houses" off in the trees that are basically a slum. They've been making you anxious for a while now, and you can't just get rid of them because others will take their place and be just as bad. One of the other residents of your community says he can solve the problem, and he does it by saying he'll let them be their own community with no obligations to your community anymore. So now they'll be free to do as they please, and not doing your work, and still apparently dangerous.
    .
The powerful never want to give up their power, and it's selfish, but people rarely ever consider it from their perspective. It still important to do so. When someone is wrong, you still have to try to see things their way, to figure out exactly what is actually wrong, and why. Or you can't fix it.

For some reason I see Vi as a real jinx in all this. Where ever she goes Jinx is suffering not only metaly, physically but also emotionally. When she was gone Jinx was more or less stable, Vi shows up and jinx loses her mind even more, later underwents the most painfull surgery one can take while Vi was enjoying herself on a soft bed. At the end Vi also is responsible for killing Silco and also killing rest of Powder with it. Vi did not try to undersand jinx, she didnt even try to connect to her, she was more worried about caitlyn than her own sister. Vi first left powder behind, now she killed what remained of powder with her ignorance...and all thats left is jinx. This time it was jinx that left Vi behind. Silco knew Vi is hurting Jinx with all those memories so he wanted her to shut up, he was worried for jinx mental state....in the end he sacraficed himself for jinx byt pointing that gun at Vi. If we look on the scene he did shoot at Vi but he never aimed to kill her, he shoot next to her head the chair, he knew that if he killed Vi jinx mind would break of losing sister.
This would not have happened if Vi didnt say at the council that the granade was made by jinx. She sold out her own sister...after learning that Jayce demanded to hand over jinx... if Vi said she doesnt know then Jayce wouldnt know who to ask for and peace might have happened. But Vis betraying her sister was the first domino that moved other dominos. Vi is the real jinx in all this.

Just to clarify... Hiemerdinger, Jinx, Vi, Caitlyn, Singed, Ekko, Jayce & Viktor I don't think are in any danger of being killed off. They're all champions in League of Legends and have plot armour thicker than Obiwan's in the prequel star wars trilogy. Most of the other chars are fair game to get killed off!
I do however think Mel & Caitlyn's mother will survive Jinx's missile attack. The rest... well Fair game.
Although mentioned a few times in season 1 there was no representation from the Ferros Clan in Piltover I think that will change significantly in season 2... especially considering that most of the pollution in Zaun is down to the Ferros Clans creation of Synthetic HexTec Crystals. The Ferros clan have a League Champion of their own too in Camille whose been augmented with a HexTec body.
Ambessa Medarda... her story will go 1 of 2 ways 1st is she is attempting to get HexTec weapons to Fight Swain (Not sure it'll help tbh) Swain is a Noxian League of Legends Champion... I think he's also the ruler or Grand General of Noxus who can see through the eyes of Ravens... plenty of those in Zaun towards the end. 2nd she is working for Swain and is getting intelligence from Swain that he's getting from the Ravens.
On a side note although not shown in Arcane Singed has been building weapons for Noxus in their war against Ionia and Swain see's Singed as a loose end.

There will still be more between Vi and Cait...but they'll probably never be together, now.
    .
Think about it. Cait TOLD Vi that Jinx was too far gone. Cait was wrong about how to deal with her, but she was absolutely right that Jinx was too far. Only fragments of Powder remain, but Powder herself doesn't exist anymore, and can never return. But Vi made Cait hesitate, and Jinx took that opportunity. Because of that, Jinx just murdered Cait's mother. You think she'll ever get over that?
    .
"If you'd just let me deal with Jinx, my mother would still be alive!" They'll never get past that.

    • @Zibi21

Cait ruined the moment when Silco calmed Jinx down and made jinx angry. Jinx would not kill Vi as she is her sister but she also wouldnt kill Cait becouse Vi would be angry and woulnt never forgive her. They could talk but cait pulled the guns out, wrong timing...this led to jinx feeling betrayed again and went to blow up the council just like Silco planned becouse it turned out he wa right...everyone betrays them. Well enforcers killed Powders/Vis parents so its ok for Cait to know the pain of losing family just like them.

    • @mesjarch
      @mesjarch 3 года назад

@@Zibi21 You seriously think that Cait losing family is perfectly ok, just because enforcers killed Powders/Vi parents? Wow, just wow...
Caitlyn didn't ruin the moment, she reacted like every person would do. Jinx just minutes earlier asked Vi to kill her, then put the gun to Cait's head and you expected her to play to the moment? Earlier she tried to kill Cait like 3-4 times, kidnapped her from her own home and now Cait is suppose to be the one who is responsible for Jinx actions? Cait's only mistake was that she listened to Vi and didn't shot Jinx when she could have.

People get upset at how the season ends, but honestly, how do you step the story up one more level for an episode 10, after what you just saw in edpisode 9? You couldn't ask for a more dramatic and engrossing climax. Following it up would be deflating. The story can only restart at that point, which can't be done at the end of a season. Only at the beginning of a new one.

Arcane is really a story about parenthood. Vander did everything to protect his foster children and Silco despised that. He saw it as weak and the people that do that as inferior, so he had no remorse for them.
He used exactly this character trait to force Markus into obeying him. The last thing Marcus thought about before he died was his daughter and he would have probably even killed Caitlyn for her.
But then, in the end, Silco ended up the exact same way and couldn't betray Jinx. Not only was she basically his daughter, but he also deeply emapthized with her trauma and her fear of being betrayed.
And then there is Mels Mother, who saw it coming for herself and sent her child away because of that. Tis bitch gonna fuck shit up when she learns that Mel died (which im pretty sure she will).
