Dude, i've been wondering: how do i win lane against Volibear? I don't know why exactly but even Darius who'se supposed to be a hard matchup is very manageable with proper spacing and timing, but somehow i've been struggling a lot against Volibear matchups. I mean, guy has an AoE Shield that protects him and deals a fuckload of damage early on, has a unstoppable windup dash that stuns, his W heals him and on top of that, his passive just counters Garen's passive completely.
Any tips on this matchup?

You don't. You farm under tower and hope you get ganks or he messes up that's pretty much it.

phase rush and run before your silence runs out.
he wants to short trade and dump all of his abilities just like you, except he's just stronger early than you are. Your ult will outscale his and then some, so play for level 11 and MAYBE level 6 if you have ignite and he doesn't.

I didn't know Garen's Q was unstoppable. Would you say second best change to Garen was making his E stack Conqueror? I remember how that changed the Darius matchup for you. You were happy about that one :D

Trinity is arguably garen't best item but only if you don't need Stridebreaker to cc slippery targets or proc phase rush.
