You were between channels on CB. For SSB you need to use the BFO to clarify your signal. I think you need to review your amateur license study material.
Back in the dark ages when I was growing up in the UK there was no such thing as FM - we called it VHF. Looks a neat little screen but if you can't tune it...

On 20 meters in the US we typically use USB to communicate, you are on LSB, no wonder you cant tune it in.
Yes usually usb. But when going to a station and switching to usb off camera. The station would disappear. Will be trying it out again

I maybe wrong but the BFO is used to tune in SSB.
You need the BFO function to fine tune the SSB stations.

Was on cb so could find a station to listen to. Not sure what that has to do with ham license 🤔
You need the BFO function for fine tuning. Years ago I had SW receivers with a manual BFO function.

Use the BFO to tune in! So you can listen to HAM's.Aä And plse on 20m you have to switch to USB!
