He will forever be the G.O.A.T. From 125cc 250cc 500cc 2stroke 4stroke any other motorbike race on a track. 😅 What he did was unthinkable before he did it. As a kid I was a mega Kevin Schwanz fan. I adored Suzuki and my ultimate dream was to ride a Suzuki on a world event but then Rossi comes up and storms the world with his absession for speed, perfection, bold moves, skills and charisma. What a rider. He really has it all. Generational talent. Only rider that can scratch what he did in the future maybe only Acosta but he is falling short already.
Absolutely 2 of the very best and it is a shame it was tainted ,I would say six of one and half a dozen of the other kudos to both exceptional riders 👍
I don't know but I just watched the GP of Philip Island (2015) and Marquez, in the last lap, just closed the gap of over 0.6 s within a few corners after battling for the second place for a few corners. I think it was in his hands, I mean, you just don't gain that much that quickly. He definitely had higher pace.
He was saving his front tyre as it was overheating. He was building up for a last lap attack - if he was protecting Lorenzo, why would he then overtake him?
@@CrashMotoGP Nonsense. You don't "Save your front tyre" battling riders. That actually wears your tyres, as you keep shifting position to defend and attack. And until that point, Marquez had never won a race at Phillip Island. Of course, he's going to take the win. Even Casey Stoner, who hated Rossi, admitted in a recent podcast interview, that Marquez was just trying to ensure that Rossi didn't win the title. Andrea Iannone also admitted that Marquez was deliberately easing off the throttle on the main straight. This allowed Marquez to drop back, and keep slowing Rossi down.
@@CrashMotoGP I don't know about protecting Lorenzo but I think he didn't want Rossi to win and get closer to winning the title. It wasn't about Lorenzo, maybe it was about Rossi vs him. Apart from trying their best, many people often wish others to stop so that they could win more. Recently Pedro Acosta was also recorded saying that he had to shake the confidence of his opponent. And I think it's a very common part of a competition.
A lot can be said about number 46. I've been a huge Valentino fan since his debut in gp. I've followed GP since the days of Lawson, Rainey, Schwants, Doohan etc. He's by far the greatest motorcycle rider I've seen live on a track or on TV. Titles in 125cc, 250cc, 500cc, motogp1000cc, motogp 800cc, the absolute king of racing, when race day came. Remember 1997, 1999, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009... it was a real monster on the track!!! The guy who made you get up from your chair during all the races of the season. Stoner was an incredible rider, one of the most talented, one of my favorites by far, but he only won 2 titles on 800cc motogp. Lorenzo was a real metronome on the track when he could slip ahead and show others his impeccable riding technique. Marques... what can we say about the Spaniard except that he is one of the historic geniuses of the category, the kind of driver who scares everyone else. 125cc, Moto2, MotoGP 1000cc. His 2014 and 2019 seasons will go down in history forever. Unfortunately for both of them, 2015 ruined everything. Largely Valentino's fault from my point of view. He managed the end of the season like a big dung, when the title was for him, and panicked like in 2006. He never accepted being beaten by a faster rider than him and tried to come up with lame excuses that only convinced him and his more blind fans. I've since lost any passion I had for the Italian driver, although once in a while he still made me get up in the middle of the night to watch the Malaysian Grand Prix or whatever. New talented riders have since arrived, Quartararo, Bastianini, Bagnaia and others and I think Valentino took too many years to retire. 2018 was his last valid year. Regardless, the future is full of great riders. All I hope is that DORNA looks a little bit at aerodynamics and tightens up the regulations a bit to make it easier for riders to overtake again. It's all well and good to impose equal rules at the technical level if in the end you can no longer win if you no longer start from the first two rows. Love MotoGP!
Rossi said over and over again that Marc scared him whenever he's in the circuit, Marc always ruin the race, Marc this Marc that..... Before Rossi retired, he clashed with several riders: Gibernau, Biaggi, Stoner with his known quote, his mate Lorenzo & Vinales and Marquez. Great video, thanks for sharing. Coming back to watching MotoGp after many years absence, the dominance of 46 fanbase is still incredible and thus influences any 'discussion' around this matter.
