Makes mute performance live a lot easier. As for the half time stuff you could copy the pattern and change the time scale for it. Set it as the fill pattern of the track and there ya go.

You're lucky to get a Circklon, I've had one on order for coming up to 2 years and although they confirmed I'm on the list I haven't heard any more. I also use the Five12 Vector which covers a lot of what the cirklon does but in eurorack, well worth a look at too.

In the same boat waiting for Cirklon. Have looked at a Vector too but right now seriously considering a WMD Metron as it seems to be really good for live performance step sequencing and drums.
Don't Touch the Door behringer are awesome and as for the neutron, I have had one for a few months and they are real good. They require a lot of practice but you can make patches and get some real nice sounds out of it. I have mine paired with the tb-03 with midi.
I feel the same exact way you do about the way you have been feeling; except you are the Cirklon and I am the SAM. I have been following you for about 4 months now; and I can understand pretty much every other thing you are talking about. Have no clue what a cirklon is or what Beatbox pro is all about but it seems all very interesting. SO I am just reading the manual and absorbing about every other word or so but its very cool because you have the queens tongue. I am sending your music all across the USA to get my friends in the underground interested as well. So when you plan your world tour and visit us in the states; we can all jam together. Jonny Tech by beatbox pro, do you mean BeatStep pro? It's an entry level midi and CV sequencer with 2 monophonic synth tracks and 1 drum tracks. The Cirklon is also a MIDI sequencer, but is much more sought after and harder to get your hands on.

64 tracks at the same time with the Cirklon. Check out CK tracks for drums and linear sequencing with pretty much unlimited polyphony, depending on memory. P3 tracks are step sequences but have serious power with their aux functions - almost make the Elektron sequencer look like a toy. I use an X32 rack and SD16 too. Much bang for the buck.
I like that half time trick. Sometimes I like to use the tempo timeline in Ableton to cut the tempo in a section of a song in half. Its great for all the midi stuff sometimes samples start to sound wonky but often in a good way!

Nice grab on the cirklon. I used a beatstep pro for a short while, but sold it and a volca sample and went into elektron territory to arrive at the Octatrack Mk2. Look forward to more coverage of the Cirklon and hope your doing good there.
you can think of beringer what you want. But the x32 line (also the full blown mixer) is actually pretty decent. Beringer bought MIDAS, who was the actual manifacturer of these products, and so they still use the same high quality preamps for example. I do own a Midas branded mixer (M32) and i'm very happy with it. 1,5 years later for backup i got myself a Behringer x32 for 60% of the price of the Midas one...
P3 (step sequence) Patterns on Cirklon can be up to 16 bars or 256 steps... CK (real-time polyphonic) patterns are only limited by available memory :-)

You can get into half steps with the fill button, by having the same pattern copied to the fill pattern, and make that pattern half speed...thats how i do it. If you want to continue half step, you’ll need to switch to another scene though. Ratcheting the same method, but double speed on the fill. Might not be exactly what you want... Another ratcheting method could be using masking repeats with the turn of the a/b knobs. Needs a bit of pre programming, but possible.
Interesting to hear your thoughts on the Cirklon. I use the first 8 tracks for drums, one sound each track, and mute and use fills for interest. My music is more club focused techno though, so works for that but see how beatstep works better for you. I'd keep running both side by side and use for their strengths.

So the sequence that you started playing at 17 seconds on "safety" was using ratcheting? I.e. it plays doubles or whatever when you hit the pad once tbus the sequence sounds faster than what is played?
Tbh, when I started, it was either a cirklon or an atari st cause not that many sequencer do have more than 2 midi outs. Waiting list and cost for the cirklon was too long and too much for me, so I bought an atari. But still, cirklon is the pinnacle of midi sequencer in my opinion!

cold is fine! humid I agree, but this room is nice and dry :D. it hasn't been a problem yet. as for cold. thats fine. in my other place over the winters its been -4 degrees Celsius in that place when I've been filming before, as its just a garage. so cold is fine haha
about 10. I have it practiced, when I go to gigs it takes about 5 minutes to setup on the stage if I'm in a rush. however most of the time I take my time make sure stuff works. but for festivals yeah, 10 cables. and when its plugged in its mixed in the rack mount mixer I take etc.

Cirklon £1500 for a sequencer, I wish there was a stripped down version where you sequence one synth at a time as it's layered up in the AKAI and they could sell more to the budget dawless musician, the Cirklon has the best interface by far.
I’m pretty sure the Pyramid Squarp is just as capable of not more and far more intuitive , not to mention way easier to obtain and more affordable. No clunky keyboard keys either.
@@juliaseppi2205 I had a Pyramid for a bit whilst waiting for my Cirklon that i have had for a few years. Clever box but prefered using ableton that using the tiny screen and the UI was for me way too complicated / contextual. CV way too limited for. Cirklon can be a bit frustrating at times BUT still the best hardware sequencer i have used and i have played with most of them.
@@juliaseppi2205 indeed however the process you outline aren't immediate, Ie can be done within a few seconds. and if drums are on separate tracks you can't record in multiple at the same time. its cool! but recording and performing live is another thing. I dont every start with anything on sequencers. I never save owt, and build it up live and this is just a few things which slows down that process
@@THISMUSEUMISNOTOBSOLETE OK, you don't save anything? Maybe cirklon is not the right choice of sequencer for you as to get the most out of it you need to be saving stuff! First and foremost you need to be saving your instrument definitions, it'd be a nightmare having to be remaking those all the time:). Saving templates for what's on which track is important also, For example a blank template of all your definitions assigned to particular instruments so you're ready to go from the off can save you hours of donkey work . Its not a turn it on and go thing unless you tailor it to suit your needs, cheers.

yep it is quite lucky. I mean the cave isn't really much, this was the cheapest flat we could find to rent, the cave was full of the landlords rubbish, so I asked them kindly just before the pandemic if I cleared it for em I could use it! as for money for gear yes its fab, I spent a very long time living very very cheaply in some very dodgy places and plenty of odd jobs to make sure I could pursue some sort of music career and its finally sort of paying off to justify spending nearly everything I earn on justifiable music gear haha. luck is indeed a part of it but there was a lot of sacrifice and planning ahead that came with it, I mean I still have no money after that to go out and enjoy life, but my enjoyment is from my job so screw it :D. no holidays as Fred Dibnah used to say.

I've never used a Cirklon, but I had Colin's earlier version the "P3 Sequencer". I REALLY regret selling it. He's an incredible designer

Screw the haters Behringer makes some pretty sick hardware for its price. I dig the hell out of my UMC404HD interface.

Basically the cirklon is the best standalone midi/cv sequencer in the world. Also with a long waiting list and it's not cheap.

8:02 on the Cirklon, you can achieve this effect by changing the Tbase of a pattern, you can also save different scenes with different pattern/Tbase
on p3. but not ck so it sorta makes it useless for drums, unless I'm missing something

The maximum number of tracks is actually 64, so its not unlimited tracks, cheers.
And a P3 can have a maximum of 256 steps. CK patterns can be as long as you like.
I have to add that drums are easy on the Cirklon. I don't really use CK for drums. I use P3 so every drum has it's own track.

@@THISMUSEUMISNOTOBSOLETE OK, you don't save anything? Maybe cirklon is not the right choice of sequencer for you as to get the most out of it you need to be saving stuff! First and foremost you need to be saving your instrument definitions, it'd be a nightmare having to be remaking those all the time:). Saving templates for what's on which track is important also, For example a blank template of all your definitions assigned to particular instruments so you're ready to go from the off can save you hours of donkey work . Its not a turn it on and go thing unless you tailor it to suit your needs, cheers.

yep it is quite lucky. I mean the cave isn't really much, this was the cheapest flat we could find to rent, the cave was full of the landlords rubbish, so I asked them kindly just before the pandemic if I cleared it for em I could use it! as for money for gear yes its fab, I spent a very long time living very very cheaply in some very dodgy places and plenty of odd jobs to make sure I could pursue some sort of music career and its finally sort of paying off to justify spending nearly everything I earn on justifiable music gear haha. luck is indeed a part of it but there was a lot of sacrifice and planning ahead that came with it, I mean I still have no money after that to go out and enjoy life, but my enjoyment is from my job so screw it :D. no holidays as Fred Dibnah used to say.
