Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Epic Uno relocated to New York City in 1996 to further his passion for graffiti and design by attending Brooklyn’s Pratt Institute. As he maintained a strong focus in the design field and began mastering his craft, graffiti continued to have a strong influence in his design and typographic approach. Today, Uno has over 10 years of professional experience as a successful package designer, corporate identity specialist and illustrator. With roots in the graffiti world and a background in design, he creates clean yet memorable characters and art pieces with a real urban edge.
The design of these boots - called Moniker - was inspired by the artist’s love of graffiti, in which letters are stretched and reimagined until the perfect balance is achieved. This piece celebrates graffiti as a pattern and a “tag”. This one-of-a-kind boot has been customized using hand-applied materials. Please take extra care when wearing.
The sale of this boot will benefit La Maraña in Puerto Rico.
