Your supposed to trust someone to give you something permanent yet they cant commit to something themselves. I would think it was strange. Its just an unwritten rule in the industry so i don't see how u can blame the judges for that. its not like that's ONLY the opinion of ppl on that show, that's most of the industry.

no literally. i was just watching a clip of this girl getting tattooed a big old school cartoon show on her back and the judges said something about a cute girl walking in and leaving with a tattoo that looks like that for example makes her “less cute”. it really is some misogynistic bullshit

@@a.smarvelous9149 That's a really bad comparison. At the end of the day, as long as he could tattoo, why focus on his empty skin? There was no reason to single him out constantly just because he wasn't like everyone else.
There is a time limit! My sister was a canvas on the show. If there wasn't, people wouldn't end up with unfinished tattoos! An why would the judges stay there for 6 hours doing nothing while people are getting tattoos? That makes no sense
Exactly because there's been people who left with unfinished tattoos like when Tatu Baby did the garter belt on season 3 they only had 4 hours and she couldn't finish it. So people saying there's a time limit is bs.
@Me memememememe me me doing unfinished tattoos and bad tattoos from drama..u kidding me..that would ruin the reputation of the artist on show..they have their own shops to run after the show..they would never agree to a drama that can potentially ruin their career..people who lost in the beginning are poor tattoo artist..and most clients wouldn't prefer to go to them over someone better..so why would they agree to hurt their own reputation just to create drama! if someone does that. that's a foolish thing to do..
Omg no way, you're telling us they shoot all the "time's almost up" shots beforehand instead of making a famous rock star wait 12 hours every episode? Total shock. And they made the artist wear some headphones from their sponsor, why is this even worth mentioning? This is what sponsors do and why the artists can win a 100k.
I was so expecting more from this video if it's titles Ink master is fake. He told us nothing that a rational person would expect. This is how TV works
The dead giveaway is the fact that every 30 seconds they’ll say “AND THE WINNER WILL BE TITLED INK MASTER” and every person goes “Yeah” or giggles or goes “WOW” like they’ve never heard that before.
Yea all the reactions are such bullshit and clearly edited in. Someone produces unreal work, gets a good critique and you see people pulling sour faces, as if
"you will be judge by Oliver Peck, Chris Nunez and me" "you will be judged by us, and also by America, using same criteria as the judges" yeah, i get annoyed with how often they say it xD
Yeah, i don't understand why they make him say that every single time. A lot of competition shows do that and it's annoying lol. I get saying it maybe the first three episodes as a reminder, but every single time gets to be too much
Pikmii agreed, they even explain how it relates. When watching the show, I definitely see how it relates and the lessons it teaches . It good to have different ways to learn one thing. My friend who is a rat major says it’s like this, you do a bunch of other things first to learn different aspect of art and then you fine tune it into what you do. But, they shouldn’t make some of those challenges so physically taxing.
We also have to keep in mind thag it is a Tv show and the flash challenges not only help the artists pick up on new strategies and techniques but they also switch it up for the viewer and the outcome is usually pretty awesome
Completely agree, they help the artists use new mediums to hone in on their artistic abilities and show that they are more rounded than just a “tattoo artist”. I honestly love watching the flash challenges too!
I don’t think some of them were right for the challenge they have later in the episode. I’ve seen Face Off and most of their challenges before the actual main challenge links in to the challenge somehow
HOLD UP. Season 7 New School Dino challenge canvas here. The artists are not allowed to go over 6 hours. The production crew tells them times, Dave DOES pre record the time calls. BUT they are ONLY given 6 hours to ink. The judges walk through and spend most time off set that is true, but they comment and ask questions when they are in your booth. The other artists do the same. Those stupid headphones are product placement and plugged into nothing AND we don’t even get to keep them, they clean them and record them on the next person. Our jury sent the pregnant Dino with St. Mark in second place for worst, Marq went home.
I just watch for the tattoos. Never thought it was "real". It's good to see Angels took some lessons from The Ink Master judges... sometimes their picks are outrageous too.
I don't think it's any secret that the judges are barely in the room during the tattooing. These were all pretty weak arguments! If you don't like it, don't watch
Cassidy Starke honetly curious why you are using the line “please show me your portfolio” as a way to one up the other person who didnt claim to be an artist.
I think "Fake" is being a little bit confused with "Set up for T.V." - yeah some of the shots aren't legitimate and the dialogue is forced to an extent, but ultimately the artists are producing tattoos and that part is real. Nobody expects the tattoos to all be being worked on down to the wire or the judges to spend all day just sitting around in there waiting for them to be done. Flash challenges aren't a revelation they're clearly not tattoo challenges, but it's still a form of art, it's entertainment.
The problem is that the judging is "fake". They don´t kick the worst artist out, the kick the "most boring" artists (who don´t create a lot of drama) out. They can ruin an artists reputation with this way of "judging", because the most people are not able to see, if a tattoo is good or bad and just trust the judges decisions. If the judges decide to kick out a good artist in the first or second round, oly because he is not so entertaining than much worser artists, the majority of people think, this artist is bad and they will not go to him. That´s very sad.
@@luda3124 It's simple for me. I watch because I still find the process of tattooing amazing. From the layout that I myself can't make out anything to the artist making it come alive with such precision and foresight. As far as getting tattooed, it just takes me to a different place.
I mean, the thing about the judges spending time there is pretty obvious, I can't imagine them staying 6+ hours there doing nothing xD But yeah, they REALLY do play favourites, specially on Kyle's season. They were too harsh with him, and the winner, if judged fairly, would've been eliminated a couple episodes before the finale. I understand the flash challenges tho, they don't eliminate, they use artistic abilities and are entertaining. That said, it's still fun. I usually skip the drama parts and only watch the challenges and judging, the tattoos are still real, and you learn at least a little bit about what makes a good tattoo.
I started watching Ink Master to learn about tattoos, and I did. Some of the guest judges in the early seasons certainly demonstrated the diff between a fantastic tattoo and the contestants' tattoos. I did get tired of the drama. I will watch the next season tho--the ingenuity of the flash challenges is worth watching.
She was naive enough to give the producers enough to create that narrative. They spent filming and condensed her story just to the complaining. It makes the audience not like her and it's entirely that cynical.
What I hate about the show, it’s all about the drama, and the actual tattoo gets about 2 seconds airtime! I want to see the tattoos and appreciate them, I prefer “Angels”, because of this.
Is angels another tattoo competition show? I like ink master just because it has cool tattoos and stuff but if I can switch to something less staged I would be pretty happy
My least favourite thing about it is how they give the contestants two litres of red bull before throwing them in to film those confessionals. Too much!
Angels is actually worse. Ryan and the girls are always hard pressed to pick the female entrants over the males... and besides they themselves still are not on a level to be judging anyone. I mean some calls and critiques I've seen and heard. Some of those tattoos have no right being on TV...LOL
Giovanni Clarke I hate jumping in here, but have you ever watched any episodes with female competitors? They almost NEVER make it to the next round, and even if they do they're defeated by an angel.
One of the things I have always noticed is when canvases are assigned, if an artist says "don't give me THAT one" they get that one. Same with duo or teams as well
In one episode they ultimately got rid of one of the better artist, souly because he himself had no tattoos. All the while the show promotes no judging people because of their tattoos.
you are wrong. they did not get rid of him for that reason. they even clarified that in that seasons finale. also yeah i want my tattoo artist to know what it's like to get tattoos, sorry. I wouldn't spend my hard earned cash at a fancy italian restaurant if i knew the chef had never even tried italian food before. give me a break bro
I actually love the flash challenges. Yeah it doesn't have anything to do with tattooing but these people are supposed to be artists. These challenges are interesting and it's cool to see each tattoo artist be challenged creatively so see more of them as real artists rather than just tattoo artists. Some of these people are really talented and creative and really get to shine and usually the more artistic/ creative people make better tattoos too cuz you know... its art
Nano Poysungnern You would think that, and that’s what the producers want you to think, however you need to realise that the entire show is based on tattooing and not art. It’s like watching a family drama and suddenly there’s action in it, you’re ok with it but it just isn’t what the story is about.
What people doesn't realise is that a reality show is a show, not a championship. It's not do the best tattoo in a comfortable scenario, it's not swimming in the olympics, it's more like throwing you to a swamp with cocodriles and see who crosses it first. Same with any reality, it's just enterntaiment and anything goes. It would be amazing a championship with the best tattooers face to face but that's not gonna happen because the attempts made had way worse audiences than this. People doesn't care about art or truth, people want drama, Ink master's producers knows that and grunge knows that too, hence this video.
Couldn't agree more, these are tattoo ARTISTS, they're talents should expand beyond just tattooing, whilst the show is about tattooing largely, flash challenges break it up nicely. I mean how could you complain about the electric sparks one, all the artists got so pissed of as most of them didn't have the perseverance, but that one dude did an incredible drawing of a hammerhead shark, I thought that was awesome
ABW Backyard Wrestling & Randomness if it's on TV yes. I guess to an extent. It's like saying wrestling is fake. U know it's fake but the wrestling is real. So to an extent, yes
iNREEk, Proffessional wrestling and the ufc are opposites. Just because something is on TV doesn't necessarily mean it is fake. Like ufc, it is real. No winners are pre-determined.
Yes but they are playing it off like its real and fair. There are some really obvious points though where there is some shocking bias towards certain people. You have to remember the people on the show are going in thinking they have a legit shot at winning so bias from the judges/producers is not ok
No. There is no reality in a reality TV show. That's why it's a TV show. You want reality? Follow my boring ass around with cameras for a week. That's reality.
Actually, MOST people refuse to accept the reasons why--and refuse to do the research. Going down the rabbit hole of what our government is doing to it's own citizens and the world at large, at the behest of their corporate and financially elite masters--employing only what can be proven with mainstream articles, historically recorded undisputed FACT, journal entries from the most prestigious universities, etc..., will lead you to a terrifying reality. These shows are fake for a litany of complex and layered political, moral (or rather immoral), and social programming/engineering reasons. Yes, commercial interests are behind many of the decisions. However, as dastardly as that is (and the commercial decisions they make ARE diabolical, completely unethical)--that's the least of it.
I agree. But TV companies aren't stupid; surely they did some sort of audience research on this...and the result must have been that the general public can't sit through a whole hour of solid tattooing. I like the flash challenges but, yeah, defo nothing to do with being the most accomplished tattooist.
Have nothing to do with tattooing, but a good artist will do art with pretty much anything But i agree with you, i like episodes when the flash challenge is a tattoo
Sarah-I am sure they did, but you have them building sand castles and lifting bricks-do you want a fatigued artist with a shaky, strained arm trying to ink you?
literally nothing in this is ground breaking news, i think everything in this video is common knowledge for the most part. the couple things i will say is a) Kyle Dunbar very openly on the show claimed the judges were biased against him, and he had a point. however this was an effort made by the judges as they thought he responded well to harsh criticism, the entire situation ended up blowing up, with kyle repeatedly pushing Chris Nunez and him getting kicked off the show as a result. B) the time limits seem to have impacted many contests which multiple saying they ran out of time, and producing unfinished tattoos, while they might have a few rules that may allow you to finish what you're doing before coming to a complete stop i highly doubt that this would occur as frequently as it does if the really did have an arbitrary time limit this information seems to be twisted in a way to present the idea that the show isnt depicting what i feel is quite blatant. yes, there is no way there these are authentic personalitys, its sort of like pro wrestling, its your personality dialed all the way up to 10, and the producers will try to create conflict. The flash challenges are for entertainment purposes, very clearly. painting with blood, creating sand castles and using explosives like gun powder are clearly not tattoos, but its a fun way to show artistry and are merely to give a small advantage of skull picks. product placements and pre tapings are happening on just about every tv show. this video seems pretty redundant
No. Watch the credits after any reality show. The entirety of Kardashian's lives is scripted. Marriages, divorces, pregnancies, fights, "leaked photos/ videos. Everything planned well in advance.
I knew this was the case when Ryan won her season, Kelly was far and away the most talented tattooer there and Gian's master canvas was sooo much better but it was time for a female to win and they wanted to plaster the attractive female all over their brand over the talented one.
Adam Timmons I’m glad to see other people agree with me on this. A female was planned to win from the start. It lead rite into the spinoff show with her and the others girls.
Gian's work was clearly superior in finale and with the bs ink master angels we know why she was put forward to win it even though she did not do so with merit no way I watch that garbage for sure, sry IM but that was one scam too many.
Point black period Gian had the best lines I have ever seen on ink master... and he was possibly the most consistent all season long. They should have given it to him just for the amazing body of work he did... Even when he transformed the old man into a pinup for his wife in front of that car... Old skin is the hardest to work with and he killed it!
i would prefer it be real but in the end i just like seeing what tattoos they make. some of the outcomes though are terribly staged like in the last season rolly making it to the finals on that pin up come on guys atleast try to keep consistant
Also that girl alliance shit was so staged, all of them got easy ass pieces, and that hot girl won on an easy ass tattoo while the other guy killed it with a japanese piece which was out of his comfort zone.
It’s funny how they only interviewed the losers and ppl who went home on day 1. Like they really have good things to say about the show. Kyle Dunbar was the biggest wuss on the show. Of course he’ll say the judges are playing favorites. His art sucks and he can’t see that
You do realize the winners are more likely lie and exaggerate because they’re under contract or simply don’t want to bite that hand that fed them, right? Would you rather hear that??
Chris Davis Kylo said to the entire room of his fellow artists that Chris hates him, and all of them said that his tattoo should be in the top, and then Chris trashed it and send him to the bottom which made everyone look surprised. So, unless that part was scripted too, Kyle was right about judges playing favorites. The other side of it is then pushing Ryan Ashley for her looks, when she wasn’t the best on her season and often wasn’t critiqued for issues she had, when other artists went to the bottom for the same things.
Started watching this some weeks ago, and honestly? I kinda already knew it was pretty fake. No reality show is real and editing can do wonders to any type of midia. I think the show would still be entertaining without all the drama and urgency but I also understand USA culture tends to value these aspects
I am prepared to accept this but wondered what ink master is getting out of this? I'd have thought the best TV is film everything, decide who you are going to focus the season on as it is being filmed, manipulated the competition slightly to ensure they have the dramatic moments that we associate with winners and then do the rest of the work in the editor's room. I'm not sure the value in deciding the winner beforehand when you can let them perform then start pushing the favourite half way through.
Sarah L its much much easier to film and edit video when it’s somewhat pre planned. It’s just how it is. It’s what’s done and what they are doing. It’s not speculation. At least it’s narrowed down and not 100% decided.
It’s literally entertainment. They have to do what looks the best and makes the most money. If anyone thinks anything on tv is real, you are sadly mistaken.
The judges have decided... You do not have what it takes to be stink master. Now please close the toilet seat and leave the bathroom. Unless you're tatu baby ofcourse, then you'll have another million chances.
2:20 those weird challenges were not really meant to be part of the show, they were meant to see if the viewers showed an interest in any of them, to make even more armloads of money.
humbledb4jesus wow, it was just a friendly alliance. Girls got to stick together in these situations because like it or not, they will always be pitted against each other and though lesser of.
I knew one of the artist that was on the show, they had mentioned how the crew was trying to spread gossip and have them talk crap about each other for drama reactions.
Lol yep, this vid cen't be more accurate, I mean looking back at season 2 top 3 contestants... Sebastian over Tatu Baby SERIOUSLY????? Then there's season 1, that guy who just do black and gray and won over an over qualified Tommy Helm. Ridiculous.
I can tell you one thing as a canvas all three of them came in and talk to me about punk rock shows I've seen in NYC back in the day got to say they were all cool
I know on the show they made Kyle Dunbar out to be a difficult jerk. Having been tattooed by Kyle on multiple occasions he and his wife Candy who also tattoos are super nice.
That always seemed fake to me. Watching the season where he goes for Chris. Up until now he's been pretty cool, which makes me question the turn around. Am looking forward to seeing it though, so I guess I play into the hands of the people that make these shows.
He should have won the 1st season! Jason "Garden Gnome" Dunn aka Mr.AnxietyExcuse shouldn't have even been in the finale.. He was only in the bottom how many times? In season 7 he should have won that too! Anthony DIDN'T complete the challenge therefore he should have automatically lost.
interesting how most of these critiques come from participants who were eliminated very early. In fact, Heather, who's critiques are mentioned multiple times was eliminated first round of the first season and her art was clearly not up to par. Not saying that some aspects of the show aren't staged, but many of the points made in this video don't make the show "fake" and many are biased opinions or just flat out incorrect.
I live in the panhandle of Florida Okaloosa County I got a few tattoos from Dave Clarke years ago I'm talking about a decade ago that actually looks nice on paper but he didn't do a good job transferring that there was red and one of them and now it's not even there anymore and on that same tattoo and now he charges a lot of money I wouldn't go back to him there are plenty of other tattoo artists out there who in my opinion do a better job he works at sacred expressions in Fort Walton Beach
I've only got one tattoo from him that actually love and even that one is starting to bleed out in some of the areas and blend the blacks or bleed together and there wasn't two decades ago is actually just 12 years ago
Did anybody expect anything less? I recognise 2 of the judges and I'm assuming they both are spending more time tattooing (aka doing their job) than being on a tv show. People will always play favorites, friends of managers will always get promoted before anybody else. "reality" tv is 100% about bitching about the other people on the show. Of course the time limits are bullshit, these tattoos are going into people for the rest of the their lives, enforcing a strict limit means mistakes will happen and tattoos are left half done.
What? Are you telling me that a "reality show" is actually staged ? I'm stoked! I really thought the drama was real and all tatoo artists went head-to-head in a daily basis, the only thing that I would consider fake in the show is fake tattoos, other than that everything is already well known for those who like this kind of shows, I watch it for the art... And it is awesome!
Am I the only one that thinks it's awesome that Dave nevarro is on here. He used to be the guitarist for rhcp (one hot minute) so pretty much we're watching a member of rhcp. Idk I just like thinking that it seems awesome
I don't think joining RHCP when they were already a name and getting tossed out before anyone noticed him should be impressive to most folks. I mean what the fuck, they have roadies that outlasted that clown lol.
As an artist myself, I recall a lot of times I raised my eyebrows at some of the time challenges. Like I thought yeah right... There's no way they did that tattoo in one session and in that short amount of time.
I was on ink master, yes they edit. Like every reality show. I was on the show and They don’t pick everything I said. The flash challenges show how they are artists and have skill in all kinds of things.
If you look at the "fine print" for literally EVERY "reality" tv show/contest like this it says that the producers are the ones who ultimately choose the winners, doesn't matter if it's tattoos, cooking food, or picking a bride.
if only this was printed in size 80font on the side metro skyscrapers. Then vanderpump, survivor and jersey shore assholes would need to work a legitimate job.
the worst part is when they react to the flash challengis wile standing in line i mean come on usaly yo dont say anything when you are in line like that
These are some really weak points. Obviously, the "down to the wire" isn't completely accurate. And I can't imagine leaving your family, being stuck in a house for months on end with strangers during a competition with a film crew around is going to bring out the best in people. People can barely hang out at a party for a single night without annoying each other. Fact is, people are really being tattooed, sometimes multiple times in one sitting, you can't fake that.
Just to point out that they film the episodes back to back, and a single episode is only two or three days. Four to six weeks is still a hefty chunk of time, but they aren't actually stuck there for months on end.
Cod Fan LMAO I think it’s cuz he wears too much eyeliner, and the Carmen Electra thing, and he hangs out with pornstars. It’s probably jealousy. But maybe it’s not that. I just don’t like him and I don’t know why to be honest. Lmao... maybe it’s his glasses who knows
This is ridiculous...and I really don't understand, why everyone hates Dave?! First of all, he really is an amazing and kind person. Secondly, stop asking why he is there, he is a judge because he represents the voice of the client. And lastly, please stop blaming him and the other 2 judges for how the show works. THEY DON'T MAKE THE RULES. Some people say that they should judge the tattoos without knowing who did them. Well, they can't do that if it's not in the script...all three are amazing, but Dave is my idol and it breaks my heart when I see how many people hate him without a good reason :(
I don't like him because he is the rock band equivalent of a toe sucker. The guy has jumped into more already successful bands only to be tossed out then I can count.
um, yes he does have control over the show... maintaining your innocence is the point of being the face of the show but he is also a big part of creative, development and production. Sorry not sorry, dave is a dick. Talented yes but a dick. See: Axl Rose
Its stupid for sayin the flash challenges have nothing to do with art/tattooing. yet the flash challenges have to do with you artistic ability, color, composition, contrasting, line work, team work,etc.. Thats all what tattooin has even if it is a different medium then what theyre used to. A truly good artist and do anything artistic with whatever medium theyre given. Sorry for the rant

NOTAMV he said it because most of the people in the comments do not think that’s the way it goes. They really believe otherwise.
Your sarcasm is cringe af. You sound like a 12 year old that just found it was fake.
Lol I like your sarcasm
I was so expecting more from this video if it's titles Ink master is fake. He told us nothing that a rational person would expect. This is how TV works
Is the main guy a rockstar? I don’t know that much about rock.
Someone produces unreal work, gets a good critique and you see people pulling sour faces, as if
"you will be judge by Oliver Peck, Chris Nunez and me"
"you will be judged by us, and also by America, using same criteria as the judges"
yeah, i get annoyed with how often they say it xD
@@BarugoSama they could've use footage of them concepting and being productive, but noo..
Yeah, i don't understand why they make him say that every single time. A lot of competition shows do that and it's annoying lol. I get saying it maybe the first three episodes as a reminder, but every single time gets to be too much
**It's scripted not fake**
That's what people mean when they say fake....
"scripted" doesn't equal to "reality" hence you can call it "fake" in this case.
Eeh i kinda agree w u

That's why we have so many shitty TV shows. British shows much are usually much better quality without the artificial drama, and tense music
Joe Staaf so you watch for the shitty drama but not for the tattoos jesus christ wtf is wrong with people.
And get to see bad tattoos and good tattoos
@quinten verbist what’s wrong with people like you criticizing people for watching the shows for a reason they don’t approve of?
@@TsukiKageTora if you watch a Tattoo show for drama, and not for the tattoos, damn you wrong
I always assumed that the judges didint stick around for 6 hours waiting for the tattoos to get done... idk how thats surprising
I would say these flash challenges fit in cause you need creativity.
But, they shouldn’t make some of those challenges so physically taxing.
tatiana Castillo your friend is a rat major
What episode? I wanna watch
It’s to expensive on RUclips does in stream in anything else? I’m checking Netflix to see after this.
Lol RUclips probably already ruined the first two seasons but it’s time to binge, would love to see this pregnant dinosaur

I just watch for the tattoos. Never thought it was "real". It's good to see Angels took some lessons from The Ink Master judges...
sometimes their picks are outrageous too.
I don't think it's any secret that the judges are barely in the room during the tattooing. These were all pretty weak arguments! If you don't like it, don't watch
right? Why would they need to be their for 6-12 hrs doing nothing while they finish the challenges or tattoos.

Then don’t bash other artists🤷🏽♀️.
@@eXtremeGoLden several winners have been boring and not part of the drama. Usually the best artists stick around for a long time.
I actually skip the drama part and jump right into the critiques. There's some phenomenal work in these shows, plotted or not.
Same, most drama parts are just tattoo artists shouting at each other.
I just watch it so i can see the tattoos
next your going to tell me that "pimp my ride" was basically a fake show

There is a youtube video about that actually.
Man!!! Pimp my ride!!!!!!

heather sin complained THE WHOLE TIME. nobody else was complaining
She was naive enough to give the producers enough to create that narrative. They spent filming and condensed her story just to the complaining. It makes the audience not like her and it's entirely that cynical.
@@heatherm7933 true, it is reality tv after all
What I hate about the show, it’s all about the drama, and the actual tattoo gets about 2 seconds airtime!
Giovanni Clarke - I guess you did not see my reasoning for why I prefer Angels, and each to their own?
Giovanni Clarke I hate jumping in here, but have you ever watched any episodes with female competitors? They almost NEVER make it to the next round, and even if they do they're defeated by an angel.
One of the things I have always noticed is when canvases are assigned, if an artist says "don't give me THAT one" they get that one. Same with duo or teams as well
In one episode they ultimately got rid of one of the better artist, souly because he himself had no tattoos. All the while the show promotes no judging people because of their tattoos.
IKR! Jamie! He did not deserve to go home, they were being babies. I loved it how they drew tattoos on him.
you are wrong. they did not get rid of him for that reason. they even clarified that in that seasons finale. also yeah i want my tattoo artist to know what it's like to get tattoos, sorry.
Star Cherry you cant lose in flash challenges. So your point is invalid
Exactly. In the end it all comes down to your tattoo skills the flash challenges are just some extra to challenge them creatively

I mean, it's called "SHOW" for reason 😂
Yes but they are playing it off like its real and fair. There are some really obvious points though where there is some shocking bias towards certain people. You have to remember the people on the show are going in thinking they have a legit shot at winning so bias from the judges/producers is not ok
Anna k facts lol
just because it’s a show ... doesn’t mean it’s automatically fake
You could have just saved yourself the time of making a video by titling it "Reality TV is fake and everyone knows why".
Most people think its real. Or else they wouldn't tune in
Finally someone said something about the stupid flash challenges that have nothing to do with tattooing
I agree. But TV companies aren't stupid; surely they did some sort of audience research on this...and the result must have been that the general public can't sit through a whole hour of solid tattooing. I like the flash challenges but, yeah, defo nothing to do with being the most accomplished tattooist.
rikki everyome already knew that tho lol....
Have nothing to do with tattooing, but a good artist will do art with pretty much anything
But i agree with you, i like episodes when the flash challenge is a tattoo
Sarah-I am sure they did, but you have them building sand castles and lifting bricks-do you want a fatigued artist with a shaky, strained arm trying to ink you?
iknow right
literally nothing in this is ground breaking news, i think everything in this video is common knowledge for the most part. the couple things i will say is a) Kyle Dunbar very openly on the show claimed the judges were biased against him, and he had a point. however this was an effort made by the judges as they thought he responded well to harsh criticism, the entire situation ended up blowing up, with kyle repeatedly pushing Chris Nunez and him getting kicked off the show as a result. B) the time limits seem to have impacted many contests which multiple saying they ran out of time, and producing unfinished tattoos, while they might have a few rules that may allow you to finish what you're doing before coming to a complete stop i highly doubt that this would occur as frequently as it does if the really did have an arbitrary time limit
this information seems to be twisted in a way to present the idea that the show isnt depicting what i feel is quite blatant. yes, there is no way there these are authentic personalitys, its sort of like pro wrestling, its your personality dialed all the way up to 10, and the producers will try to create conflict.

I knew this was the case when Ryan won her season, Kelly was far and away the most talented tattooer there and Gian's master canvas was sooo much better but it was time for a female to win and they wanted to plaster the attractive female all over their brand over the talented one.
Adam Timmons dude..ryan is way better lol..compare their instagrams.
Miles Hawkins she wasn't on the day nor throughout the competition, what they've done prior/since is irrelevant in a fair competition.
Adam Timmons I’m glad to see other people agree with me on this. A female was planned to win from the start. It lead rite into the spinoff show with her and the others girls.
Gian's work was clearly superior in finale and with the bs ink master angels we know why she was put forward to win it even though she did not do so with merit
no way I watch that garbage for sure, sry IM but that was one scam too many.
The judges actually say some tattoos are bad, but they're dope. It's because everyone has different eyes and see different art.
i would prefer it be real but in the end i just like seeing what tattoos they make. some of the outcomes though are terribly staged like in the last season rolly making it to the finals on that pin up come on guys atleast try to keep consistant
Also that girl alliance shit was so staged, all of them got easy ass pieces, and that hot girl won on an easy ass tattoo while the other guy killed it with a japanese piece which was out of his comfort zone.
I feell you
But it's still nice to see the good pieces of art that this dudes do
i tried to forget that season ryan shouldn't have won the guy peice was way better.
HIS SHARK OMG @ rolly complete trash
Chev Chelios she's a fine line black and gray artist a full color chest piece was totally out of her comfort zone
It’s funny how they only interviewed the losers and ppl who went home on day 1. Like they really have good things to say about the show. Kyle Dunbar was the biggest wuss on the show. Of course he’ll say the judges are playing favorites. His art sucks and he can’t see that
So I guess all the canvases were losers? Sounds about right lol.
You do realize the winners are more likely lie and exaggerate because they’re under contract or simply don’t want to bite that hand that fed them, right? Would you rather hear that??
They absolutely play favs, I see it every season
Chris Davis Kylo said to the entire room of his fellow artists that Chris hates him, and all of them said that his tattoo should be in the top, and then Chris trashed it and send him to the bottom which made everyone look surprised. So, unless that part was scripted too, Kyle was right about judges playing favorites.
The other side of it is then pushing Ryan Ashley for her looks, when she wasn’t the best on her season and often wasn’t critiqued for issues she had, when other artists went to the bottom for the same things.
Dude I was thinking that too lmao
Idc if it's fake i like how the way they make beautiful art work

I am prepared to accept this but wondered what ink master is getting out of this? I'd have thought the best TV is film everything, decide who you are going to focus the season on as it is being filmed, manipulated the competition slightly to ensure they have the dramatic moments that we associate with winners and then do the rest of the work in the editor's room. I'm not sure the value in deciding the winner beforehand when you can let them perform then start pushing the favourite half way through.
Sarah L I'm sure it has to do with what will make them the most money.
Sarah L its much much easier to film and edit video when it’s somewhat pre planned. It’s just how it is. It’s what’s done and what they are doing. It’s not speculation. At least it’s narrowed down and not 100% decided.

None of this suprises me , its just how reality tv is . But never the less i dig the show.
I mean, its a $100,000 show. What do you expect the challenges be?
I was a human canvas and the director kept time. The artists were expected to finish within the time, however, the host was edited in
the worst part is when they react to the flash challengis wile standing in line i mean come on usaly yo dont say anything when you are in line like that
Funny how the two artists arguing about the judges playing favorites were the ones always putting out 3/10s.
I really disagree with that and looks like a lot of other people do as well.
I don’t like Dave Navarro and I don’t know why. I just don’t like him
Duggalo y, he’s such a nice guy
I heard somewhere he was a satanist or something, good enough reason to dislike someone imo
Jayheartsjonas He’s not a satanist. It would be cool if he was though.
Doesn't he have the satanic cross (symbol) tattooed on his neck? I thought he was a Satanist because of that.
I am so excited for the next season! Cleen is my favorite contestant on the show!
I've seen the work of most of the judges and I have to say it's not that good. In fact, I would say it's pretty average.
Well, they can't do that if it's not in the script...all three are amazing, but Dave is my idol and it breaks my heart when I see how many people hate him without a good reason :(
People don't like Dave because he looks like a nonce.
I don't like him because it's just doesn't sit right. Ik dumb reason but still
I don't like him because he is the rock band equivalent of a toe sucker. The guy has jumped into more already successful bands only to be tossed out then I can count.
Dave is a heroin addict.
um, yes he does have control over the show... maintaining your innocence is the point of being the face of the show but he is also a big part of creative, development and production.
Wtf does ice sculpting have to do with tattooing ability
No artist is ever under that pressure in real life. No artist is ever that rushed.
lmao i can’t believe that people say “You know it was a thing with time...” and there is no actual time limit-
There's definitely a time limit or else people who never end up with tattoos that aren't finished. My sister was a canvas on the show.
It is a bit upsetting knowing it is fake but tbh it is still entertaining to watch and that all that really matters but still they shouldnt have made it that fake.
I can confirm the shit talking part. My tattoo artist was on the show and he said they tell you whoever starts the most drama gets the most air time.
So thats why Josh talks so much shit
Morgan Knight 😂
I really like the show, but I always felt like this was obvious 🤷
