Yeah, it's sad. This song means a lot to me, but some bastards from other social media are trying to ruin it for their fetishes and weird stuff they like. It's unfair, this whole game was made with so much love
It's completely normal to cry at this...Not only does it probably remind you of your childhoods, but the composer used a lot of 7th chords in this and they also alternate between major and minor throughout the whole piece, creating a "bittersweet" effect.
+Tapu Kek it's not hard. Just listen to the chords. Fourth note being two halfsteps down from the first note in a chord is a 7th, one halfstep down is a major 7th, the second note in a chord being 4 halfsteps up is a major chord, 3 halfsteps is a minor chord. Any chord that skips the second note and just has the first and 3rd note is a power chord, which is typical with rock, punk, etc. It's pretty easy to recognize the distinct chords if you know how to write music. Each type of chord has its own distinct sound, and knowing it is crucial, in addition to the desired instruments to giving your music the desired feeling you want it to. All minor chords give the same effect as each other, the only difference being what note they're in, all major chords same deal, 7ths and major 7ths, etc. Example of a Cmaj7 is in John Lennon's hit song "Imagine". If you try to play it on a piano, you should recognize it. C, Cmaj7, F.
This wasnt in my childhood but i remember how i loved yoshi with all my heart and now hearing this song made me love him more and it makes me remember the fun times me and my mom had while playing games related to him as she also grew up with him as well :D
The innocence and purity of this song is sad and depressing to me. Because i now know what a evil world this is, and the thought that most of us started out this innocent and then became corrupted and learned too much. We grew up and lost our innocence and purity.
Guess that's why I hear be thankful from the yoshis, we need to be thankful we had our childhood, so we can Cherish our memories, because we know the scary truth about the world once we grow older, so be thankful for the time of innocence we had
In the 3rd grade, one of my best friends were moving away to Florida during spring break. We said goodbye to each other for the last time and on the drive home this song was playing in my head. It made me really sad. I think I cried. I hope he’s doing okay.
As I was listening to this song, my mom had walked into my room and was about to tell me something, and stop to listen to this song. She then proceeds to say Mom: "Es el Yoshi?" Which in Spanish means "Is that Yoshi?" This goes to show how much I played this during my childhood and 20 years later, my mom still recognizes this song. That was a true blow to my feels.
God dammit I knew I'd find this type of comment. You know another guy who's been here longer than Iwata passed away too and he made Nintendo how it is today, and I never see a single Yamauchi comment, just a billoion fucking Iwata comments?? God fucking damn it.

Was randomly listening to some old video game music when this song came up in the side bar. Clicked on it and was enjoying how soothing this piece was and remembering the game. All of a sudden 1:55 hit and the little Yoshies started to sing and... I have no idea why but I just started to cry. Not sobbing with sadness or anything but the tears just started to flow and they wouldn't stop and I was smiling the whole time as well. Every now and again I come back and listen to this piece and have a good cry, I know how weird that sounds but it just has that effect on me and it actually leaves me feeling pretty good afterwards.
This song’s gonna play at my funeral someday; it’ll be the ending of another story. This game was special to me as a kid as it was my first, and I still cherish it today at 25

To top it all off, the chords played by the guitar keep alternating between major and minor and there are many 7(9) chords and diminished chords among them, making for a extremely bittersweet feeling. No wonder many of us get emotional listening to this, especially if this was part of our childhood. The composer knew exactly what he was doing here. Such bittersweet memories that will never come back again. I got chills when I listened to it again. Thanks for posting this.

Okay the part where the Yoshi's start signing at 1:55 was the most adorable thing I've ever heard. I actually started crying, I'm 16 and I never even played this game but this sounds amazing. I was literally like "I'm actually f***ing crying omg" it was the cutest thing I've ever heard. Also funny thing, I've actually only played one Yoshi game which was Yoshi's New Island for the 3DS, I loved that game as a kid I even 100% completed it, but for someone reason many people disliked it which was really upsetting to me because I loved that game as a kid, it was fun to play and I liked the music and if younger me was willing to sit there and 100% complete the game then I definitely loved it.
I’m 34 and 😭🤧. My husband just put this on his Switch and I was playing last night and beat the stage. He heard the Yoshi sounds and heard the Yoshis singing this and he commented that this was the cutest song. I’m pregnant with my first and they said they said the baby might have Trisomy. I really hope not, I always thought I’d play Yoshi’s Story with my baby. I’ll be using several Yoshi tracks to rock him to sleep.
It’s been one year, hope everything is ok, God bless you and your son, I really hope you will be a great mother and your husband a great father, hope you the best.
As a kid, I always heard "We fell in love" which made sense to me because the game had a lot of elements of love. But from when I was seven to this day, I still shed tears of joy! I love this game so much!
My father bought this game for me on my 11th birthday back in June 1998. When I first heard this song, it made me tear up a bit because of how sad but melancholic and uplifting. Now 23 years later, I can't listen to this song without tearing up with tears of joy of how the Yoshi's are happy they got their fruit tree back. This is the kind of music you can read through your old photo album of you or your children and family cry tears of joys reminiscing about the good old days of your childhood innocence.
Oh my gosh... I remember well over 10 years ago I first played this game and got to the end and BALLED my eyes out at this song! My older sister thought it was hilarious. Even now, at almost 20 years old, I feel like crying listening to this.
This song was a huge part of what led me to realize that I didn't appreciate this game enough. It has become far and away my favorite song from any video game ever. It helped get me through this past summer, which was an ugly 3 months. I love how this song and this game heavily symbolize happiness. I will likely be playing the game again this weekend. Such great times, those used to be...
My brother played this game and tells me that the ending is just perfect and wholesome. Its true, what a cruel world we have, but this captures innocence and happiness.
Timeless masterpiece. Great and simple game. No need for extra expensive console or a whole orchestra to make this a great song. This game comes with great nostalgia. Very fun to play. Can listen to this over and over again.
This song just reminds me of how much happier I was as a kid. How pure I was playing this game. I wish I could have spent an eternity as the little 6 year old boy I was. Why did I have to go and grow up? In any case, there’s some kid out there right now enjoying their 6 years of happiness. I hope they don’t take the time for granite and will be able to look back and be as happy about their childhood as I do.
Man who would’ve thought that years later I would be showing my kids this song telling them this is what I used to jam out too 😅. The nostalgia….how life was so simple as a kid! 🥲🥲🥲
"And in the end it came to pass, the super happy tree was found at last. The Yoshis had broken Bowsers spell--a tale for all the isle to tell. And the Yoshi’s lived happily ever after."
I remember playing this game with my late grandmother and I was 6. I remember how she would love watching the Yoshi's run around and squeek her favorite was pink yoshi that I have in my room by her photo. This was my beautiful childhood I want to go back to again. Thanks for uploading
Lyrics 0:18 We, have had fun all the way, But it’s time to say. Goodbye, Farewell, See you later, So Long, Thank You, Until Then. Thank you for all you, have done! 0:52 Thanking you, yes you right there, Coming to our aid. Wouldn’t have got-ten our tree back, If it wasn’t, for this guy. So we owe this song, to you! 1:18 We’ve won the game, With all, your help. We have, earned back, Our happy tree! 1:43 With, the tree grasped in our hands, We, return to our home! 1:55 Thank You, so much, For all, your help! Coul-dn’t have done, It with-out you! 2:16 We owe, this song, Especially. To the, player, That helped us through! 2:38 We owe, you one, Here is, to you, With tree, in hand, We head for home! 2:57 Now comes, the time, To say, goodbye Farewell, old friend, We’ll see, you soon! 3:29 Thank, you for playing, Our fun game, See you real soon!
A song so nostalgic that bro will cry even after being dead? Actually, this song is the perfect "look back on the story and be sad that it's over but happy it happened," so this time, that checks out.
When I was a Kid I used to play this Game at Home with My family. Right now like 20 years appart from those days I left Home, Lost My family and end up alone. When I heard this. Something broke, and I am literally sobbing right now. People. Tell your family and real Friends how much You love them. Time never comes back hug them. Be kind.
I had a dog I really loved growing up. I liked to think Kiki was yoshi and I was Mario. This song is in a playlist that makes me think of her and thanks to her I probably am the person I am today. I got a new puppy a year ago and I named him Yoshi.

Timeless masterpiece. Great and simple game. No need for extra expensive console or a whole orchestra to make this a great song. This game comes with great nostalgia. Very fun to play. Can listen to this over and over again.
The yoshis are now ready to ride Mario….
This brings back childhood memories. It touches my heart and brought me to tears. ❤💙🧡
1.Listen to the song
2.Remember your whole childhood of playing the game and the Nintendo 64
3.Try not to cry
4.Lay down
5.Proceed to cry
my childhood, the song and the voices remind me of my youthful days. those days will never be forgotten and neither will yoshi.
Man who would’ve thought that years later I would be showing my kids this song telling them this is what I used to jam out too 😅. The nostalgia….how life was so simple as a kid! 🥲🥲🥲
The end, ohh...
The end, ohh...
The end, ohh...
The end, ohhhhhh...
Also, 3:29 always gets me the most.
Its niiinteeeeeeeendoooooooo niiinteeeeeeeeendooooooooo niiinteeeeeeeeeeendoooooooo ninteeeeeeeeeeeeeeendoooooooo! -yoshis
+Josh Layng I think it's just a resinging of the initial intro logo, namely the word "nintendo".
LOL
I thought it was "the end" or "the airport." Very confused why they are talking about an airport.
Its "the endo" in Japanese
this almost made me cry
That's a lot of Yoshi's for one bed...
It's been a year since Iwata passed away. I'm listening to this to remember all the beautiful moments that he has created.
"And in the end it came to pass, the super happy tree was found at last.
The Yoshis had broken Bowsers spell--a tale for all the isle to tell.
And the Yoshi’s lived happily ever after."
I cry every time xD
I showed my mom the Yoshi speaking part and she thought they were saying "Be Careful" bless her pure heart ❤
@mickyblue011 True. This music digs deep into your heart as soon as you start listening to it.
I’ve never played this game before in my life, and this still made me cry
I don't play this game but this song makes me think about the memories I have with my Dad, RIP 😢
I remember playing this game with my late grandmother and I was 6. I remember how she would love watching the Yoshi's run around and squeek her favorite was pink yoshi that I have in my room by her photo. This was my beautiful childhood I want to go back to again. Thanks for uploading

We, have had fun all the way,
But it’s time to say.
Goodbye, Farewell, See you later,
So Long, Thank You, Until Then.
Thank you for all you, have done!
0:52
Thanking you, yes you right there,
Coming to our aid.
Wouldn’t have got-ten our tree back,
If it wasn’t, for this guy.
So we owe this song, to you!
1:18
We’ve won the game,
With all, your help.
We have, earned back,
Our happy tree!
1:43
With, the tree grasped in our hands,
We, return to our home!
1:55
Thank You, so much,
For all, your help!
Coul-dn’t have done,
It with-out you!
2:16
We owe, this song,
Especially.
To the, player,
That helped us through!
2:38

Here is, to you,
With tree, in hand,
We head for home!

Now comes, the time,
To say, goodbye
Farewell, old friend,
We’ll see, you soon!

I wish I could go back to being a small child, if only, this song makes me cry, and feel nostalgic despite never playing this game
its such a good game dawg

@THE_D00M_SLAYER666 Well I guess I’ll try playing it maybe soon
The yoshis are saying they killed someone family and they are a part of a huge drug dealing business trust
Gonna play this in my funeral 😤🔥
I hope it will make you cry.
I wish they played this at my high school graduation ceremony
Same
Same. It’s coming up for me soon
When you're happy, you enjoy the music but when you're sad, you undestand the lyrics.
So sad : ( It makes my soul touch the heavens
@Onii Ponii i think its bayonetta kirby
Hear this song
Un-dust that nintendo 64
Search like a maniac yoshi's story
Finish the game just to hear the song again
1:55 is beautiful. I had tears in my eyes. 🥹
