This scene traumatized me as a child for how sudden it was. It came out of nowhere.. It's only years later that I read that Monica Keena was miserable on the set of the show and asked to be written out because she missed her boyfriend and family.

Anyone else think the way they all acted towards a person dying was really fucked up? I understand she was a big ass bully and loved to stir the pot, but they couldn’t even show remorse for Abbys family or their friend Jen who was struggling. I liked Abbys character cause she wasn’t perfect and Jen will always be my favorite for the same reason.
yes exactly!! i’m only on season 4 but i was so shocked when they couldn’t even show the slightest bit of remorse and got mad at Jen when she had just went through something so traumatic
They're both annoying as hell. They're walking cliches of rebel teenagers who think they're better and smarter than older people
@@jaegersbomb6706 I agree with you, but you also have to remember how badly she treated Andie. Andie was mentally disturbed and did not forget her unkind words. She was also mean to the others. On the other hand, she died in a bad, cruel way even though it was an accident. I liked when Jack compared her to "satan". lol
I know I was shocked when I saw everyone acting like they found out she pissed herself in public
Omg yes! Even Joey and Dawson were very cold and acted like they didn't care like it doesn't matter if you didn't care it's ok if they didn't like her bc she was brutally honest when it came to their fragile egos but atleast do the right thing and make your amends! It also bothered me how nobody cared enough to invite Jen or Abby to the wedding bc Abby was the "bully" and Jen was the NY's "slut".. they really were the outcast while everybody constantly bended over backwards kissing Joey's a** bc her dad was a drug dealer as if she was the only who who had problems. I liked how Joey grew throughout the seasons but I really hated how she was always everybody's favorite even when she had so many of her mean, moody moments.

lol but an ambulance isn't gonna drop her off at home- they have a body to deliver. The other cops were still there so presumably they gave her a lift home.

I believe I was in eighth grade when this episode aired and it was the most talked about episode of season 2. And coincidentally enough, I remember there was a girl in my U.S. History class also named Abby Morgan.
I’m watching this on yt I was too young to be watching it in the late 90’s when it came out. I really applaud this show for being the most realistic. Yes it’s a lot of drama in 30-40 minutes but they show things that happen in real actual life. People die. That you might Hate or not like. And you see how everyone changes and acts like they were this great person. Just like the show showed us. She made a good point her last words. A lot of young people like myself can relate to. We gotta learn to stop and be thankful and learn to be happy where we are. Because if we are always trying to look for that next best thing or place to live without learning to be grateful and thankful and happy... we’ll just end up like Abbie.
Monica Keena played this so well. She played the character well in general. My favorite of the entire series.
I feel sorry for Abby not because she died lol but because how she felt about her life....
She had a perfect life then all the other kids and didn’t even realize it

Pacey had an abusive dad (who he made up with), Andie and Jack’s brother Tim died, their mother was mentally ill after Tim’s death, the dad wasn’t there when their mom got sick, Jen’s parents were assholes, joey’s mom died and dad went to prison, Dawson was going through his parents getting a divorce, and Abby.., well Abby didn’t have anything. She had no problems at all and that’s why she had the perfect life compared to everyone else

Kinda sucks that they did this. Abby was developing as a character. She was really funny when she got screen time. The only time I didn’t like her was when she humiliated Andie at the election. But they made up afterwards as friends. Overall Abby was a underused character who had lots of potential. She also would’ve been great with Drew if they were a couple
I agree her and Jen really made the show more interesting. I’m barely on this episode so I dunno how the rest of the show is going to go, but I’m not a fan of Dawson and Joeys boring love story.

Abby is a character I loved. Especially on the Sex, She Wrote episode from season 2, and Detention in season 1. She was too ahead of that small-town, close-minded judgemental people.

Hats off to Michelle Williams. When she said “Gods got a 5 bedroom beach condo in Maui for dead kids” I fell out of my bed. She acted her ass off and portrayed the true reality of dealing with transition and the confusion of how to find peace with it👏👏👏

Jen asked her several times to respect her wishes, no one wants to hear,about gods plan about a young person died.

I never liked Abby bullying Jen Dawson and Joey especially Andie sometimes she took it to far but that wasn’t all that she was I seen a soft Side of Abby she liked everyone she had a hard time to express her kind soft side plus she did have it easy then the rest of everyone else she did not appreciate it like she should be and she made it hard to be friends with one person that was Jen and eventually Andie I wish I saw more of that before she passed aww Rest In Peace Abby.
It you look carefully at the wooden beams they're sat on you'll actually see they're played by me 😊
I was an extra on loads of shows back then... I remember rehearsing the part all day, it's hard trying to act more flat and wooden than the rest of the cast but I think I managed it...

For all the hate Abby deserves. She really was far more developed than the main characters of her time. Especially after season 3 writers ruined the show.

They don't explicitly say. She might have blacked out/passed out drunk, she might not have been able to swim. Probably would have required an autopsy to find out for sure and of course they weren't going to give us that level of detail
I'm glad it happened, I'm halfway through season 2 and the way Abby humiliates Andie's mother about mental health is horrible, not to mention she's a bitch to joey and also bad influence to Jen

Why it’s been said that writer ruined the show in season 3? (btw I’m just discovering Dawson’s Creek on NF) I’m currently in half of season 2, shall I stop watching it when this season end?
Been rewatching the show lately just cos. Got to Season 2, and Abby is horrible. A horrible person.
What's pretty crazy tho: first episode with her in it, she says something like "I'd rather watch my mother drown...". Hmm. Karma.

look look look, I initially didn't like abby, but the times she wasn't bullying people were actually nice, and I grew to sort of like her character, sometimes she was random
but jen saying that stuff to Andie wasn't wrong, but at the same time abby did expose to the whole school that very PERSONAL detail about Andie. I wouldn't blame Andie for being a little less sad about her death, but the way people weren't just speaking ill but were speaking like some damn cancer about her was messed up. She has a family too lmao.
