    Appreciate all your videos. My E55 is a 2004 with just 320k miles all original. Just got the warning light on. Checked charging which is reading 11.87 volts. Hopefully just the voltage regulator. Will definitely keep you guys posted.
    Thanks again for sharing all your time and information. RUclips Videos are Truly a blessing.

    OEM is the way to go with Mercedes Benz. I also learned that lesson with the window regulator situation

      the oem window regulators are notorious for breaking

    Iv'e performed the removal of the alternator and motor mounts at the same time on my C55. I actually lifted the engine just enough to clear the alternator from the top.

    Great Job. Thanks for that video. Got a similar issue with my 07 CLS 550 Benz. Looking forward to change that regulator instead of the alternator.

      No problem, glad I could help! Depending on how many miles your car has, you may be doing yourself a favor to just change out the whole alternator assembly while you're at it. Just make sure it's an OEM Bosch part, and not Chinese!

    Great C55 vids man. Almost getting mine. Was first thinking the E55 but wanted something more nimble and reliable. Your vids are pretty awesome. Make more. Thanks man.

    Currently FCPeuro doesn't stock this VR. :(
    Thanks for the video - it's going to help me get through my issue. I had no dash warnings until taking mine out for an hour cruise last night. I don't drive at night in this car all that often but last night I threw on all the headlights and fogs. When I got home, I parked up for ten minutes, then restarted it to move into the garage and that's when the warning kicked out. Wondering if running the lights is what tripped it up.

      Dang, bummer they don't stock it anymore. Glad the video has helped! Yea it's definitely a weird issue that isn't completely concrete of what could be going wrong when all the electronics start going haywire at first.

      Thanks! Yea on this car it's the only battery. Only the higher tier models like the S, CLS have a primary and auxiliary battery.

    Same car as yours (2006). Has some type of parasitic draw that drains my 1.5 old battery if car sits for more than 3 days. Mercedes independent shop here in Temecula can’t diagnose it. Battery or alternator is not the problem, car is driven about twice/wk.

    Can you help me remove the alternator from my 2005 Mercedes C55 AMG car, remove all the screws, but the space is very small and I can't remove it

    • @Addimotive
      @Addimotive  8 месяцев назад

      I must not have done a video on it, but I also had issues getting mine out. You’re right it’s a very tight space and if I remember correctly, the water pump bracket and the radiator fan shroud gets in the way. What I ended up having to do was unmount the alternator and actually split it into two pieces by removing the three or four bolts that mount that two halves together. Then I took it out one half at a time. I did the same for the new alternator when installing it. It feels weird splitting apart a brand new alternator but it’s just the stator and housing half that you split apart, no complicated internals. Hope that helps!

    iv had to replace 4 of these in the last 6 years in my 2004 CLK500 . im thinking about putting some dielectric grease on the two contacts this time ? good idea ? bad idea?

    • @Addimotive
      @Addimotive  4 года назад

      The contacts are designed to wear. I don't know if dieelectric grease would be appropriate there.

    If you would change the alternator again could you do just drop it down not up? Looked there was room for it to come down?

    • @Addimotive
      @Addimotive  5 лет назад +1

      If you removed the sway bar, it may be possible to remove it out the bottom by splitting the alternator into two pieces. Part of the oil pan may interfere if you tried to take it out all as one piece, but at least that way you wouldn't have to disassemble the front end or drain the coolant!

  • @encinobalboa

    Damn. My regulator is good. I have a noisy bearing.

    • @Addimotive
      @Addimotive  7 месяцев назад

      Dang that's a bummer, alternator swaps on these cars are tricky! I had to split my alternator in two pieces to get it out and split the new alternator in two pieces (along the housing) to get it into place before assembly the bolts to secure the two halves of the alternator together. Without completely removing the radiator and fan shroud that alternator is basically stuck down in there!

    • @encinobalboa
      @encinobalboa 7 месяцев назад

      @@Addimotive Split into halves? Dang. I would think re-joining them once they clear the bracket is harder than wiggling it in whole. Anyways, I ended up loosening radiator support to create enough clearance to slide the whole alternator in.

    • @encinobalboa
      @encinobalboa 7 месяцев назад

      My install notes: I went with a junkyard alternator from a R500. It was clean and had good bearings. I swapped over my original voltage regulator which was a low miles Bosch. All done for $50. Alternator bearing whine is gone. The bearing itself was not close to failure but the noise had to go. Before I did my C55, I practiced removing alternator from a CLK500. That alternator was a re-manufactured Bosch and had a crappy aftermarket voltage regulator. Be care of re-manufactured alternators.
