Took me 5 hours but I finally figured out how to separate into Needs Info, Past Due, and Reschedule Action. And how to have the Due Date Status. Well 5 hours off and on but I've finally made it!!!!! So proud of myself! That's all.

I do understand the Areas concept from the Second Brain system, but your Notion system seemed to require Goal assignment versus Area assignment. Would like to understand this better.

Hey man, I’ve been hyper focused, going down this rabbit hole of notion, for the past few weeks. It’s landed me here where I’m looking to decide on an already built second brain. I have to say, after I’m probably about to purchase yours at the end of my research today. Not just because of the functionality, not the aesthetic (which is a huge factor for me as a creative) BUT THE MAIN REASON IS, you have put an amazing amount if sensory into this. Which makes me believe this isn’t only useful for high level productivity, rather, balancing productivity within life. This isn’t a productivity tool, it’s truly a second brain. Which is what I believe is Tiago’s original point was when coining PARA. Anyways, haven’t left a RUclips comment like this sense I was a teenage lol but if I purchase this, I’ll follow up with you in a few months. Thanks for your efforts and sincerity man.

Very clean layout and effective use cases for productivity. I am curious to know if you test the functionality or if is there a different resource? Testing can be like proofreading a paper, the proofreader can provide helpful feedback in some instances that the person completing the work may not observe. Keep up the great work!

Great walkthru of your Productive Brand 2.0 template for Notion. I really like how you can find all completed and archived items under the reflect section. Got two questions: 1) Is there a page for weekly reviews and previews? I guess that would be similar to how you process things daily... just weekly with some notes. 2) How does the Routine Views look on mobile? Would that show up first or at the top like the sink header or quick links on Notion databases?

1.) weekly preview can happen on the plan page simply by looking at the calendar and dragging out tasks. Right now there’s no weekly review for notes but I do have a weekly review component that can be enabled. It’s not by default, but I can show you how to enable it if you email me: hello@productivedude.com
2.) Routine views aren’t all bad on mobile, but I don’t like using them regularly, they will work, it’s just a much worse experience. For instance, the calendar just shows dots on the plan page instead of actually listing your actions. It’s not ideal but it works if you need it in a pinch. This is a Notion problem. I’ve also created some views on mobile that can be access specifically for mobile: A todays plan view, to see your todo list for the day, and a quick capture window, so you can quickly add tasks, notes and bookmarks.

This is so great, for the time being I've used lots of this on mine before I get your 2.0 template. How are you automatically adding the tasks you are marking as complete to your days database? That's so cool! Thanks for sharing this, it's really great!
The tasks getting marked complete already have a date property associated with them so actually they aren’t connected to days it just appears so when reviewing your completed tasks
Hi, I really like your Notion set-up! What view is yesterday’s ‘completed work’ view in the reflect page?
I actually like the PARA adaptations here. Especially Goals (specifically clear end result goals) and Topics replacing Projects and Resources respectively (Areas are pretty much the same). Fitting my content into the PARA framework stumps me; these are more self-explanatory so I will try to implement these. Thank you!
This setup also caught my attention because the GTD aspect is clear. I ended up making something like a Processing page for various fun resources without familiarizing myself with GTD at all, so might as well take some pointers here and apply them to task management and everything else as well.
EDIT: How do you get those toggle lists at 22:30? Are those database groupings by formula?

Hi Carter! This is FANTASTIC, thank you! I have been trying to get more organized using notion but I can't seem to find a system that covers all my needs and I keep wasting time going back and forth between systems and templates and it's just not helping my productivity. However this does def look like almost everything I would need. I will very likely purchase the template, but I was wondering: how do you compatibilize the task management system on notion with your personal calendar? For instance, I see you have meetings on the "plan" routine but I imagine those meetings are also on some sort of personal calendar besides this calendar view on notion. Do you schedule the meetings twice? Do you have a personal system on how to include a "routine" to plan your day with a calendar/chronogram or do you just use this notion "calendar" on the plan view? Just curious; I keep trying to set up my own routines and always find out I function better when I imitate a routine that has already been tried by somebody else. Thank you!
Hey Ana, you can either manually enter the meeting, or if you use google calendar you can integrate a 2-way sync using notion-automations.com/calendar
That’s what I do. As for the routines you could certainly add a task that serves as a routine and have it automatically appear on certain days using recurring templates.

@@analizchiban3108 if you’d like, you could mod the template and create a relation between goals and topics.
I didn’t find it that useful to do this. Typically I just manually pin the topics that matter most.
I personally just have my companies as areas, then within those companies I have goals that are different projects within the company.
I create topics for each company as well and some projects get their own specific topic as well. :)

Not in the current version, this is quite complicated to implement in this type of system.
However, on the days that you don’t want to complete certain habits you can just leave them unchecked and it won’t hurt anything.
It’s best to just leave all the habits and check them on the days that you want to complete them.
I.E. I have a habit of workout but I don’t worry about it on the weekend so it often times won’t get checked, however, sometimes I do still check it on the weekends.
Hey, Productive Dude! It is an amazing Notion Template and I was trying doing for myself, I have a couple of questions: 1. How are you able to change a Group's name? For example, in the Reflect Page, your actions are divided by quarters and the group's title is not the month. 2. How can you make groups that are made by filters? For example, I noticed that you made three different groups in Process Tasks and these groups can be made by filtering the Tasks database.

1.) you’ll have to use a formula to do this the formula should bring in the text for each task that you want for the group names, then group by that formula property.
2.) create filters that make the tasks disappear when you get them fully filled out

I just wanted to ask how you vision updates would be handled since this is a pretty intricate template. Do you think updates will usually involve full migrations over from the old to new versions, or they would be simple enough steps to tweak? Of course, given you just recently released it it would be hard to say for sure but would love your thoughts!
Hey Sarah, great question.
Updates could simply be implemented if you are an intuitive Notion user, or you can install the updated version when I release it and merge the CSVs from each database. It is a bit tedious. I'm looking for ways to improve the migrations.
In the meantime it will come in the form of a migration tutorial along with the new template emailed out to past purchasers every time there is a new update to my system.
3.0 is coming soon with Notion Buttons and some other improvements along with some more content to make understanding this framework a bit easier.

This is a super great setup. I'm trying to integrate some parts into my own system. One question that I can't figure out how to do: In your "Todays Plan" -> "Habits" secton, how did you manage to automatically get todays date as the title of the gallery card? I can only use the row's title for that and can't manage to set that automatically, except with "@Today", which also doesn't give me todays date as the title ...

I just wrote today's date as the title and also added a date property that is used to decipher the actual date.
Thank you very much for the amount of effort you put into your content. Most of it people never see. Have you ever thought of creating a (probably 6h) tutorial for this template? I would really like to give this second brain system a go and see if i can make it work from myself. I am currently trying to replicate it myself but it is incredebly difficult to do so and unfortunately as a fulltime studen i am not the wealthyest human alive, so purchaseing it is not an option for me. However to get back to my point of making a tutorial. I have seen many excel creators do this sort of stuff where they will provide a tutorial for somesort of thing like a project management tool in excel so you can follow along and build it yoursefl and not spend any money or you can safe yourself a ton of time and just buy the template. this way you would be compensated by just sheer watchtime on youtube instead of the sales price. I would love to see a tutorial on this or even a video where you go into more detail on how you made all this work together in the background :)

Do you have any tutorial on how to autogenerate titles that matches Created Date? Like in yout "Habits" view.
No, these don’t auto generate, you need to add a year in advance. The best way to do it is to add the columns and days and in google sheets, export as csv, then import it into your database. Only takes about 5 minutes to import a whole year of days.

On your highs and lows section of the metrics, if you type in more than one high or low, does it show all of them or just the first. Also, in your video there is nothing in those boxes for the metrics, does that change once you type in your high and low for the day or does it always stay blank? Yes, there can be multiple highs and lows every day and they fill that spot in metrics.

Hi Carter, I've been using Notion since November and I find your videos most helpful. I must say though that I do not have much time to build my Notion and so I have been looking for templates. In fact, I bought ones and some are not cheap. So yeah, I am interested to purchase this beautiful template. But just a couple of questions. Can I fully customize it and it will work exactly the way you designed it? I am a Pastor, where do I put my sermon files? My Bible study?....stuff like that. Can it be done?

First of all, thanks for this. I love the way you explained this. Others in the Notionverse move quickly and without explanation. I want to buy you template, but just two days ago I purchased Thomas Frank's template. I have spent a week working with this whole notion thing, but that is 7 days away from the the business - I need to set a course now. So please tell me that your system will do all that the other guys will. I love your motivation scripture, so please look me in the eye and assure that you and your system is worth the extra $ and will do what I need but in your special way layout. So its your template or his.

Recurring Tasks: Do you have a video on this specifically?
What is your best suggestion on migrating from one Notion Brain to another... example... I am a pretty avid user of Thomas Frank's Ultimate Brain, however this seems so much cleaner and less complicated to me. And I find myself modifying or not using parts of UB a lot, even using some of your tutorial videos to help me, as you go above and beyond in explaining the reasoning behind things (so helpful!!). How do I best take allllllllll the information/time I've loaded into that, and transfer it into Productive Brain?
What databases do you want to migrate?
Just tasks and notes? Or anything else?
@@ProductiveDude Ideally, all of it... which would be Tasks, Projects, Goals, Milestones and Areas/Resources (which contain Notes)... but I also understand that some of those things don't translate into this template and it would be more the information contained therein being translated into PB 2.0. So I may have some manual legwork to do with moving information over.

It shows how to remap property names and move things over, then how to process your info quickly and get back to a fresh slate.

I'm super curious about one thing, though, if you wouldn't mind offering a small peak behind the curtain. It seems like the Daily Habits and Tracking databases are automatically creating new entries each day where the Name property matches the current date. How is this possible? Or are you using some other workaround to create those daily pages?
The days get prepopulated every year using a csv file that I import.
You can also use a tool called datepop to automatically add dates! :)

I love your system and how you set it up but it order for it to be a zettelkasten type method, where are you storing the media you consume? That’s probably my biggest data base in Notion so I can link all my book notes, videos I watch and make notes on, podcasts I make notes on, etc. and link them up to my topics that I am interested in and when I need to find all this valuable info I’ve collected, it’s easy to find. Just curious how you handle this type of information.

When you're processing task, and a tasks that has been processed before (so has all the relevant information) but it needs rescheduling, will it pop up in this overview as well?
Yes tasks that are set for past due dates or action dates and are not complete already or on the back burner will show up to prompt you to reschedule. I use this a lot. 😃👏
The template is fantastic, but unfortunately, the price is way out of my budget. I understand that it must've taken several hours to develop such an optimized system, but I feel like $150 is kind of overkill. Amazing work nonetheless!!
Probably weeks, not hours
The price is not even close to overkill. This is not only a product, but it’s an entire process developed to make you organized and productive. Not only the time involved to produce this template but the knowledge of an entire process to be productive is so much more valuable than you can imagine. Unless you are like me and have invested thousands of dollars and hours on podcasts, books and courses like Lifehack and second brain, all which are $1200 to $4500 to teach you the skills behind these concepts and without a deliverable to allow you to put in practice what you learn. (Both of those courses are absolutely amazing but I’ve struggled with putting what I learn into practice.) I’ve tried product after product, spent hundreds of hours trying to come up with my own solution and still I have to work so many more hours then I would if I was able to organize and track more efficiently and maximize my time. I have finally found something that will help me with all of the facets I’ve been struggling with my entire adult life.
Hi! I haven’t bought the template yet but it looks great and I had a few questions :) I saw the video walkthrough you did on your original version and liked that one could go to a “Space” and see all the notes, bookmark and “Action” items. In this new version, would I see various tasks located in the related Areas or Goals? And for every task I process, must I have a goal? I guess I’m a little confused as to whether tasks are connected to Topics or not as well. I don’t…think they are, correct? Essentially, I’m wondering if there’s a spot I can go to where I can see all related tasks, notes, bookmarks in one area. Thanks!

For those who have bought this & also Thomas Franks UB: How do they compare? Do you reckon that this one’s higher price is justified?
this is the question I was looking for its answer here ... I watched Carter's video and Thomas Frank's to try to find out which would be the best template for me. I like some aspects of Thomas's template but as a package I feel that I would be more comfortable going with Carter's template although its more expensive; it looks cleaner and more practical. I will continue reading the comments below may I see helpful comments.
I bought your Second Brain after downloading CRM.
I would love to combine those two. Any plans on making a bundle where the CRM are included in the Second brain?
Productive Brain 3.0 will likely include CRM-like features.

VERY close to purchasing. Two questions though. 1) can I connect a topic to a task for easy access to notes? 2) what does each "Area" page look like when you click into it?
1.) Yes, you can create a relation. By default this relation does not exist in the 2.0 version of this template but it's certainly possible to add.

I get all of the databases you mention / use on here (@8:20 mark) EXCEPT the DAYS database. What purpose does it serve?
Keeping track of habits and metrics each day
Is this template usable over time? I mean, it is usable in 2024, 2025 etc. As you know there are changes in the distribution of days. Greetings and thanks for this great work

If we buy this, make modifications to suit our needs, and then there is an update, will we have to re-do all our modifications again? I'm just talking about adding in an extra database, or maybe two.
You can bring those databases with you when there's an update. You choose to update so ultimately if your system is too altered to update it I recommend watching my video about the updates when they come out and trying to replicate the new features or watch my migrations guides and try your best to migrate to the new version with all your stuff.

Hi, it eould be a great help if you solved my problem. I have designed my page in dark mode and after i publish it, it automatically shows in light mode which is ruining my design. How can i solve this issue
You can set a default in your notion settings.
Always open notion on desktop or save the cookies in your browser for Notion and don't use a browser that resets that stuff if you want to keep these changes from happening.
I've had this happen too.
A quick shortcut fixes it.

For habits: Can you make it automatically generate a title with the current date?
The habits are a property within the days database, so you'll see a checkbox item for each habit on each day.
However, you can't change the habit names on a daily basis. You have to set the habits you want to see, then they will automatically reappear on your homepage each day.
How does this compare to Thomas Frank’s Ultimate Brain template?

Where do you place your client list? I would like to save tasks under certain clients.
I create a topic for each client for notes and a goal for each client project to categorize actions.

So I don't see an actual Tasks database. Is your Tasks button actually feeding into the "Actions" database? Or is something missing here.

When I try to download the 2023 days CSV it just opens up the text in another webpage and doesnt download it. How do I get around this?

Excellent question, let me answer... with all due respect...
Second brain, para, gtd, pkm, zettelkasten are all marketing keywords used to captivate people and get them interested. Yes they are great systems - but why restrict yourself to the confines of them?
This system is built to handle your tasks, goals, habits and notes and it acts as a complimentary tool for the human brain... yes, you may see parallels here to some of the systems mentioned above but I don't force myself to adhere to a system just for the sake of compliance to the system. I use the system where it makes sense but never get tied to using it exactly how someone else uses it.
I encourage you to adopt this framework - it can be limiting to fall into the cult groups of productivity.

The 150 price is not the issue. My issue with Notion in general is that it is a time sink, not a very good "productivity" tool. Templates like this will take a lot more time than you think to make useful, and your time is the real cost!
This is a one time, 1 hour install, then it runs pretty seamlessly without intervention.
Plan, focus, process and capture fleeting thoughts.

First of all, I´m not going to buy this template right now. But I have to say 150$ for such a massive and well optimized Notion Template is totally fine. I´m working on Notion by myself for a long time now and I really know how hard it can be and how long it takes to build something big like that. AMAZING WORK!

I enjoy your videos a lot and you are obviously a Notion mastermind. But that being said - come on man. $150 for a template? Your last one was like $50 (which was also high but comparable to others I've seen for sale). You're pricing yourself out of most people's market. At $50 I would have pulled the trigger and probably many others would too.

I just think it's a shame that you're going to severely limit your exposure with limited sales instead of selling a large amount at a reasonable rate like 99.9% of the templates I see for sale. $150 is an arbitrary price point. This is a well thought out template and out of range for 99 percentile of Notion users, unfortunately. Do you want to sell five at $150 or 50 at $47?
Will it make you $150 back? Will it save you time? Is your time worth $150?
If the answer is no, then I suggest learning Notion and building it yourself - or finding someone else's template. This template is built to save the most precious resources in life... TIME and ENERGY.
I appreciate your feedback but the price will only go up as I add value. It was $30 at one point, then it was $50 for a long while during 1.0, now the 2.0 version is $150. Members who bought in at every price get lifetime upgrades. I support and care about this community and their success.

@@ProductiveDude I could be wrong but by that analogy why don’t you just make it $499? You’ll make it back, right? There are other very intensive templates out there where one can “make it back” at much less cost. You perceive the value to be higher since you’re the creator of it; however, your audience will determine the value based on sales. (real estate demand, etc) I wish you the best!
