Marilia's genre of music is called "sertanejo", which is our "country" music, and is really popular here (i don't like it so much tho). For me, she was the best ❤️ My favorites are "supera" and "esqueça-me se for capaz".
We also have an official national anthem (not the one that u know), and it's name is "Evidências", by Chitãozinho e Chororó. Probably the most famous sertanejo here.
Within other genres, I'll tell some artists that you can listen:
Brazilian Funk (emerged in the favelas of Rio, today is taking the world)
    - Ludmilla (also pagode)
    - MC Kevin o Chris
    - MC Livinho
    - Valesca Popozuda
    - Dennis dj
    - Pedro Sampaio (he has some bangers and some songs that are bleh)
Samba/Pagode (also from marginalized people from Rio. Pagode is kinda a subgenre of samba, and my favorite brazilian genre)
    - Alcione
    - Só Pra Contrariar/Alexandre Pires
    - Exaltassamba
    - Zeca Pagodinho
    - Grupo Revelação
    - Grupo Fundo de Quintal
Forró (it's from the northeast of Brazil)
    - Luiz Gonzaga (the "king of baião")
    - Falamansa
    - Alceu Valença
    - Barões da Pisadinha
MPB (brazilian popular music, it can be a funny mix of other genres, but it has it own flavor that I don't know how to explain)
    - Chico Boarque
    - Anavitória
    - Trabalhistas
    - Elis Regina
    - Tim Maia
    - Seu Jorge (also samba)
Rock (all this artist can be considered MPB, but they sound more rock)
    - Cazuza
    - Mamonas Assassinas (they're SO funny, they have the best interviews ever)
    - Rita Lee
    - Cássia Eller
    - Legião Urbana
    - Charlie Brown Jr
These are just some genres and famous artists, but it's not even close to 1% of what brazilian music is. It's so diverse and rich that I am still discovering new kinds of songs and sounds, even though I was born and raised here.
But for you to start, you can play the most famous songs of each artist in this list, they're all great.
As always, I love your videos.

OK. Now that I have watched everything, I'd like to make some comments here. You went for a very popular yet kind of random playlist there lol. Most of us don't really listen to bossa nova on a day to day basis.
The lyrics from the second song you heard of Raul Seixas (the trippy video) are so beautiful. I'd suggest you to look into them if possible 😊
Marilia Mendonça (the last lady) was a very famous singer here, and her songs are mostly played on bars/pubs bc of the themes of her songs. Unfortunately, she died a couple of years ago :( We remember her dearly.
Elis Regina, the other woman that also appeared in your video, was actually a huge figure of resistance in the period of the dictatorship that occurred here in the decades of 60/70/80s... One of her most famous performances was of the song "Como nossos pais" (Just as our parents), where she talks about how the younger generation of that time was hopeful for better times, but ended up following the same paths of their parents... I pretty much think the lyrics of this song are available in english somewhere in the internet if you search for it.
Brazillian music have A LOT of genres in it so its impossible to suggest EVERYTHING in here. But there are so many good artists that I wish I could 😅😅 BUT ANYWAYS. If interested in somethinf more I can suggest some artists:::
    BANDS:
-Skank (Good vibes. Very famous. Songs: Sutilmente, Vamos Fugir)
-Selvagens a Procura de Lei (Indie. More rock foccused. Songs that i'd reccomend: Bem-vindo ao Brasil (Welcome to Brazil), Tarde Livre... I love their discography, tbh)
-NXZERO (Famous. Rock. Songs: Razões e Emoções, Cedo ou Tarde)
Popular songs that everyone knows here:
    -Evidências (Classic one)
-Anna Julia, by Los Hermanos (You cannot find a single brazillian who would not scream OOOOOHH ANA JULIAAAA everytime this song plays, ANYWHERE)
-Whisky a Go-Go, by Roupa Nova
-Mulher de Fases, by Capital Inicial
    -Vagalumes, by Pollo
FUNK (those are kinda old but i love them 😭🫣):
-Hoje eu Vou Parar na Gaiola (Mc Livinho)
-Bum Bum Tam Tam (Mc Fioti)
    -Evoluiu (Mc Kevin)
    -Tumbalatum (Mc Kevinho)
    -Vai Embrazando (ZAAC)
-Predador de Perereca (Mc Jhey) (god this is OLD. 🫣)
-Imprevisto by Yago Oproprio (This is rap actually but I'm pretty much addicted on this song rn, so. Yeah.)
-Idiota by Jão ((popular amongst the genZ and i'm guilty of liking it too much 😭))
    Also !!!
SONGS TO VIBE IN A BBQ:
-Amiga da Minha Mulher, by Seu Jorge.
    -Xote dos Milagres, by Falamansa
OK IMMA STOP NOW GOD THIS IS LONG. BYE.

    omg i wasn’t expecting this
you should react to Racionais MC’s (specially Negro Drama and Jesus Chorou) they’re a rap group, and you can find both of these songs with subtitles in english!
a personal favorite of mine is the MPB (indie pop) duo ANAVITÓRIA, i’m in love with their voices and how they sound together, their whole album “O Tempo É Agora” is great!!
there are a lot of different genres here tbh so you could listen to a lot of stuff! but you should check out Anitta (you probably heard about her, i’d say she’s the most famous brazillian artist right now in a “global” point of view), she sings in portuguese, spanish and english, but i’d recommend her older stuff in portuguese, song’s like “Bang” or “No meu talento”
thanks for reacting to our music, had a great time watching this 😭👌

for rap i suggest “Negro Drama” you can find english subs for this one, they are from the biggest rap group from latin america ‘Racionais Mc’s’
sertanejo is the same genre as ‘Marília Mendonça’ that you listened and i rlly recommend to listen to more musics of her she’s my favorite at this genre if you put on search her name + eng subtitles you will find a lot, for this same genre i also recommend Jorge e Matheus they’re an duo
for pop music i recommend ‘Jão’ the song idiota from him is my favoriteee but i like them all, also ‘Anitta’ she made an feat with TXT recent and she’s very popular here, she sings pop/funk/reggaeton and have songs in 4 different languages a truly all in one, Girl from Rio is my favorite eng song from her and in portuguese i love Vai Malandra that is more funk
andddd for last Samba/Pagode i love ‘Seu Jorge’ you can also find eng subtitles if u write on the search and ‘Turma do Pagode’ is also an amazing samba group

Brazillian music is really vast, we have so many different genres and influences that is hard to suggest something, but, as someone from brazil's northeast (there's a entire genre that was born here, called forró), i have to shout out some artists and songs: "Tropicana" by Alceu Valença, "De Volta Pro Aconchego" by Elba Ramalho, "Chão de Giz" by Zé Ramalho, "Eu Te Devoro" by Djavan, "Paciência" by Lenine. And as a rock fan, i have to suggest "Na Sua Estante" by Pitty (she's also from the notheast), "Tempo Perdido" by Legião Urbana (old classic), "Segundo Sol", by Cássia Eller. Aaand, i think portuguese is not that hard to learn, at least to speak i think it's easier than korean, for example. Anyways, i will be happy to se you react to anything to be honest kkkkk and really happy to watch you react to a littlle bit of brazillian culture

Heyyy, brazilian ARMY here! First of all, i laughed so hard with your reaction to Raul Seixas and with you trying to speak portuguese. Our music is sooo rich, we have so many genres. So, i have some suggestions... When listening to Raul Seixas, i think its great for you to see some translations, because he sings about existential stuff. I also suggest other genres, like funk and rap, because this r genres that we listen a lot on our daily life (like sertanejo). Artists i think it would be nice for u to listen: Racionais MC's, Emicida, Djonga and Rincon Sapiência (with eng subs, please, because they talk about pretty important matters), Cassia Eller, more from Tim Maia, Pabllo Vittar, Gloria Groove, Marina Sena, Iza, Karol Conka, brazilian funk music... there's soooo much more, but i think once u find genres u like, u will find more cool people.
Anyway, i love your videos ^^

Rita lee- mania de você / ovelha negra
Elza soares - dura na queda/ malandro

There are really good suggestions here in the comments. And I'd like to add some more.
For some rap: Racionais MC's - Nego Drama; Jesus chorou and Capítulo 4, versículo 3 are good ones to start.
For some heavy metal: Sepultura, they sing mostly in English but worth checking out, especially the Roots album. Roots Bloody Roots and Itsari are iconic ones.
For some samba: Cartola - O mundo é um moinho and Preciso me encontrar are my personal favorites.
    I hope you enjoy =)

Yesss so happy to see you reacting to brazillian music! Pls do more of this! Also, it would be great if you could read their lyrics, it really adds to the depth of most of the songs your reacted to. I've seen great recommendations in the comments, but I'll add some as well:
    Legião Urbana (I'm sure they will be mentioned in more comments, they were a very influential rock band whose songs remain relevant today. Some of their most iconic songs are: Tempo Perdido, Pais e Filhos, Que País é Esse, Será, Faroeste Caboclo);
Gilsons (this is my personal suggestion, since they're pretty new and not as famous as most artists mentioned by the comments; they're a group created by relatives of Gilberto Gil - super influential and famous artist -, and they have been getting more recognition in the past couple years. Their songs are filled with good vibes, it's so nice to hear and relax. Some good songs are: Várias Queixas, Devagarinho, Love Love.)
Jão (new artist as well, but he is super popular right now in Brazil, and probably my favorite brazillian pop artist. Some of my favorite songs are: Imaturo, Eu vou morrer sozinho, Idiota, Alinhamento Milenar.)
Also, listen to more Tim Maia! His songs were super soulful and nice to hear - and his most famous songs are in portuguese btw: Descobridor dos Sete Mares, Gostava Tanto de Você, Não quero dinheiro, Você, Um dia de Domingo.
I'll stop here but there's sooo much to explore in brazillian music, and personally, as a brazillian, I also want to dive deeper into my own culture, so I'm excited to discover new stuff as you react to more from Brazil! 🎉

I'm Brazilian ARMY, this is so cool 💜💜 a few things i haven't seen in the comments:
    - the first song that you enjoyed a lot by Raul Seixas he sings in the chorus "I will get/become, for sure, crazy as hell"
    - in Raul's second song his last words are "i am the beginning, the end and the middle", the whole song got some very grandiose lyrics
    - that song you didn't like has some pretty lyrics but it's very monotonous indeed, normally only the upper class and rich people be listening to those kinda music
    - oh i just cried seeing Marilia Mendonça. She was and still is part of everyone's happiest moments, she was our treasure and her music will always live on. Her songs are mostly about love, relationships, affairs, empowerment and joy.
I have one recommendation, it's my favorite Brazilian song of all time, it's called "Segundo Sol" by Cássia Eller. She was an incredible voice, maybe the best female songwriter we've ever had and a great contributor for Brazilian rock music. Oh, and since i'm talking women in rock, Pitty (it's her nickname and for Brazilians it doesn't mean what it means in English, her real name's Priscilla) has been our greatest woman in rock in modern times, she had huge hits in the 00s such as "Na Sua Estante" and "Admirável Chip Novo".
Ok, one last thing, get into the genre Pagode too, i suggest "Tá Vendo Aquela Lua" and "Me Apaixonei Pela Pessoa Errada" by Exaltasamba, and "Deixa Acontecer" by Grupo Revelação.
I lied, another one: Brazilian Reggae, i suggest "Girassol" by Cidade Negra and "Quero Ser Feliz Também" by Natiruts.

ok. I've been watching some of your videos related to bts and I've noticed the BG music and solely based on what your music taste seems like I'll recommend some artist in Brasil that probably have eng subs on YT if you're interested:
RITA LEE: the ultimate queen of Rock Music in Brasil - but also she and her former band "Mutantes" were a legendary MPB (Música Popular Brasileira - trans: Popular Brazilian Music ) band. Unfortunately she passed away this year. Songs: Lança Perfume, Amor e Sexo, Mania de Você.
GAL COSTA: one of the most famous and beautiful vocalist in Brasil's music history and personally, one of my favorites artists of all time. She sang mostly MPB and Bossa Nova. Unfortunately, she passed away this year. Songs: Meu Nome é Gal, Lágrimas Negras, Vaca Profana.
ELZA SOARES: one of the most heartbreaking voices in Brasil's music, she was considered by many our best singer. She was a Samba singer, a genre that i think you've heard of. Her albums "Mulher Do Fim do Mundo" and "Do Cóccix Até o Pescoço" were some of the best ones in the past decades talking about Black Woman emancipation and empowerment. Her song "A Carne" is a punch in your stomach about the violence towards black people.
MILTON NASCIMENTO: one of my favorites artist of all time. Just listen to his albums "Minas" and "Clube da Esquina" and fall in love with him :)
IZA: she's one of our most famous pop and r&b artists, she has a beautiful voice and just released an album this year. her breakthrough song "Talismã" is really good, but also "Dona de Mim" and for something more hyped "Pesadão". I also love her 2022' single "Fé" is a song about faith and trust that your beliefs in good things will be worth it.
RACIONAIS MC'S: one of our biggest figures in Rap Music, they were a legendary rap crew that made rap in brasil one of the most consumed genre. they are REALLY important for our black culture (my culture) and i think you'll LOVE their stuff cause they talk real. songs: Jesus Chorou, Negro Drama, Diário de Um Detento. To be honest, their entire "Sobrevivendo ao Inferno" (surviving hell) album to me is one of the best albums ever made, its about brasilian penitentiary system and the mass incarceration of black people.
EMICIDA: Also a rapper and a big one here in brasil.
BACO EXU DO BLUES: A rapper, he's also a good one but tbh i prefer his older stuff.
MARINA SENA: a pop singer, she became famous after her latin grammy winner song "Por Supuesto". She has a unique voice, some people like some people hate. I kinda like it lol.
ANAVITÓRIA: a popular pop duo here, i love their "Amarelo, Azul e Branco" song because its about the state of Tocantins, where they came from, the north of our country. the regionalism music and culture its really a big thing here in Brasil.
LEGIÃO URBANA: a rock band with a bit of MPB too... they're one of the most influential yet opinion divisor in our music history lol. people love or hate them. Some part of me is sure that the hate comes because of homophobia - the main vocalist and one of biggest rock singer-songwriter in our history "Renato Russo" were a bisexual man that unfortunately passed away because of Aids. He and another singer "CAZUZA" used to date and both of them were really important for our music history. A lot of other artists that i recommended to you see them as their influence.
Some indie music (but still kinda mainstream because real indie music probably won't have eng subs sorry)
LINIKER: an AMAZING r&b/indie singer. i adore her song "Baby 95" to me is, what Brasilian music sounds like.
CLARICE FALCÃO: indie/mpb/pop singer. "Eu Me Lembro" is a really big song of hers here in Brasil.
BANDA DO MAR: a indie band.
TASHA & TRACIE: a rap duo of really talented girls that are conquering rap scene recently. I like their song "SUV".
Ok, so these artists have music that you'll mostly likely gravitate towards but Brasil's music is MUCH for than that, because we listen to regional and tradicional music the most - not "tradicional" as "old" but in the sense of our "own" genre. Here we listen to A LOT of Funk (not the american one, but Brasilian Funk and its really hard to explain what this sounds like lmao). These type of songs are veeeeery explicit, sexual and hyped. But historically, it was made in the context of black people in slums were they made music that played in the called "Baile Funk" (Funk party (?). Funk is not only a music genre but also a dance here in Brasil! It's a culture of its own because it came from a marginalized place, from a social minority and in the beginning it used to talk about a lot of social issues that Black People face while living in slum or "favela". In funk music, the singers are called "MC's" (yes from the hiphop culture).
I honestly dont know what funk song to recommend to you because there's a LOT of big ones but one of the biggest hits of this year is "Tá Ok" by Kevin O Cris and DJ DENNIS. Other funk artists that are really famous here and abroad: Anitta (now she's more into pop and raggaeton), Ludmilla, MC Livinho (I recommend his song "Cheia de Marra"), MC Hariel, MC Kevinho and others.
We also have "Brega Music" its a style that was born within the "Forró" (tradicional music from North East of the country) and Electronic/Tecno music. Im from north east and im biased to say that i love this type of songs lmao. The biggest artist right now for Brega would be "DUDA BEAT", her 2021' album "TE AMO LÁ FORA" was in my top3 faves albums of that year, she has a lot of big hits but i think you'd like "Bixinho", "Meu Piserô" and her duet with Tiago Iorc "Tangerina" (this one is more like indie). Others Brega artists: Jaloo; MC THA; Banda Uó.
And there is Sertanejo music... i dont really like or listen to it because of my personal and political issues with it but its probably the biggest genre here in Brasil. You listened to Marília Mendonça, one of the biggest artist in the genre history that unfortunately passed away 2 years ago. I actually liked her music quite a bit, so yeah. But i can think of people like Wesley Safadão, Jorge & Matheus that are really famous here.
lol, i dont even know if you're gonna read this but i love to recommend songs that i like. this rec is solely based on what i think you'd like mixed with new genres to you from Brasil.

If you want to listen to some rap you can try Racionais Mc's and Emicida. Or go through some genres like: samba, forró, brega and funk.

If you ever try to dive into Mexican music I'll be glad to help since there are lots of different music genres that are originated here like banda, mariachi, corridos, narcorridos, a bit of a newer subgenre called corridos tumbados and obviously there is rap and hip hop but mostly focused in cholo culture, I'll gladly give you some background information about the song, artists or cultural significance and obviously translations :)
