Altin Gun to me is part of the modern renaissance of anatolian psychedelic rock!
Anatolian psychedelic rock since the 80s has really struggled to stay alive but theres a new generation of artists and bands who have created a renaissance of sorts and Altin Gun is one of them.
Its a shame anatolian rock never really went global but it was still popular in many balkan+middle eastern countries and also Greece.
Some of the best 60s and 70s rock came out of Turkey, artists such as Erkin Koray, Baris Manco and Cem Karaca likely could have had a lot more success if they were born in an English speaking country.

In the 70es there was this guy from germany, Alex Wiska, who had played in Turkey with turkish rock-musicians (in the late 60? not sure...). And he formed his band "Alex' Oriental experience" in which he played Hendrix-influenced rockmusic on his saz. So: Altin Güns aproach is not exactly new, but they are certainly great and unique anyway. And having seen countless Alex-Oriental shows until he died in 2011, i personally am glad, that someone finally came up with a saz in rock-music again!
