The is a difference in weight trust me been around boats far to long, 9.9 hp short shaft comes in at 39kgs long shaft comes in around 42, Shorts shaft 20 hp 52kgs and not even going to long shaft, ask anybody on here or even better look at the web sites i run a 20hp mariner on my boat the only way you can get the weight down on a bigger HP engine is to go with 2 stroke and then you are stuck buying secondhand unless you are commercial and running on lochs in scotland they are stopping you using them from 2020 on, but don’t be telling people that a 9.9 hp is the same weight as a 20hp or 25 hp keep it real.
