Hi Steve, the intro reminded me of Adrian Vandenberg's solo spot live, not the notes but the soaring notes rung out of his guitar. Back in the day, live guitar solo spots were often frantic and chaotic, Adrian V was unusual as he showed how expressive he was not how fast he was. Classy player.
Hi Steve, I dug out my Godin Grand Classical (has Classical guitar string spacing/fretboard), nylon string electric guitar with individual string piezo. I hadn't played it in years as the 5th string piezo has a loose wire. Anyway, despite the dodgy 5th string this is a great guitar, super easy to do neo Classical stuff on it. I used a heavy pick and ran it through my Marshall AS50D 50w "acoustic" amp. With reverb, the Godin sounds great, full sounding, even with pick. Obviously I don't have your ability but I was having a fun time. This guitar would be great over a synth pad or layered (crazy runs). I'll have a bash at glueing(?) the wire to the piezo sensor, super annoying that a guitar of the price bracket has an issue. As a reference, I compared the Godin to my workhorse Epiphone SG, without changing the amp settings they both sound good, the SG on neck pickup obviously doesn't sound like the nylon string Godin but playing wise, both shred worthy. Alister
Two things I loved about this, the bend at 01:19........... and your ability to change the colour of the guitar mid song, was that because the neck was overheating? LOL Alister
MAGNIFICENT, Steve! My daughter probably thinks me reading her text early today of her getting an A in Anatomy was the best thing I heard today. Being my daughter’s biggest supporter, that is almost true. However, once a month, which was today, I go in early to work at 4am to count inventory. Your playing and video is ABSOLUTELY the very BEST thing I have heard, and has happened to me today. My daughter has never not gotten an A in every class she has ever taken so it just pales slightly to this musical gift, and the great joy I am still feeling from listening to your performance. Bravissimo!
Great playing Steve 🎸 😎 👍 next up try the Serenna Arpeggios as I tried but I failed 😂 those arpeggios are not easy , I think the hardest Song by Jason was Air as it's very Classical in composition similar to something JS Bach would write ✍️
I think I've not spent my time on technique as well as I could have. I always tried to be the one finger per fret pinky guy, but you use three fingers a lot to great success, and I think that Malmsteen did as well. I think I've tried to be too much of a goody two shoes. I'm inspired to try some three finger things tonight after work.
I used to utilise one finger per fret, but I found it cramped and I hate the way bending and vibrato looks with four fingers, so I do what’s comfortable. I don’t think being a goody two shoes is best as it might not suit your physiology. I’ve always said to my students do what suits you and feels the most natural. Don’t fight it!
outstanding. altitudes was always my favorite becker tune. wish we could have seen him reach his full potential. he was just on another level when he could play. he was one of those guys like eddie van halen that could have completely reinvented the guitar if he didn't get ALS so young.
Same, it’s very progressive and has great dynamics. Can’t believe he was 18 or so here. Scary level of talent! He already was one of the greats, he would have been truly something else by his late 20s
Holy shit. Missed the last post or two of yours (bad wifi on the front lines) but looks like I’ll be bringing the boys back a few kilometres to have a viewing party for this performance! Can’t wait. Yours in arms, Glad.. ugh I mean Vlad🤘🏻
Amazing!!!, what a huge melodic jewel this is, Master Becker will be really proud of your impressive and accurate performance, thank you Maestro for sharing this beauty. ♫ ♥🎸♪ P.S.- How bad is the tendonitis Maestro? 🤕
You need to fit cooling fins to your guitar or it'll melt. I've figured out the guitar colour change, it's like the temperature sensitive mug I bought my brother, the picture of the sloth changes colour when the tea is hot 🔥 Alister (the sloth is my brother's "power animal").
I was calling at an address looking for someone, I pointed out that a neighbour had statue of an animal in their garden. My colleague burst out laughing as the statue was of a sloth, like who would have such a depressing and demotivating statue? If someone had a statue of a bear or eagle they'd feel motivated for the rest of the day, walk down the front path and see your sloth statue, you'd turn around and go back in the house, defeated and demotivated
Did you see the retro American adverts for radioactive toys in the 50's? The 90's heat sensitive spoon would be atom ⚛ dipped in the 50's. I had a green bioluminescent kayak light I used to wear kayaking at night, wasn't atomic but derived from research into deep water bioluminescent plant/fish, was a piece of paper that lit up when 1.5v dc power flowed through it. Used to kayak at night as water scared me, if I couldn't see the water I wasn't afraid of it.
"Stevietudes" ha ha, the march to perfection will wear out a lot of boots, fill your water bottles troops, lots of hard picking and string swapping LOL Alister

I really like Vandenberg’s playing. He’s a funny guy too!

You used to get spoons in cereal boxes in the 90s like that. Change colour in the milk and then your mouth 😆 🦥
