Except for a few of the more obvious flaws I will never be able to tell there’s more subtle red flags. For me, the best solution would be very very careful who I bought the watch from as I would never know the difference.
Yes, why not? 563 is quick set which was first introduced in the mid 60s. But I think you should be more concern about the dial whether it is factory original finish or a redial.
Sir I have a query. I own a vintage seamster gifted to me by my dad. What questions me is why is this watch was not added with water resistant feature. I had to to inform the service company to specially help me with giving customised water resistant facility.

On that first one. What indexes are you saying? Is this true for all vintage omegas with luminous hands? I'm thinking of buying a vintage omega but it has luminous hands but I'm not sure what else is supposed to be luminous for it to be genuine.
Any correct vintage omega with lumed hands will also have lume on the dial. The same goes for hands without lume there will be none on the dial. If you find either, the hands have most likely been replaced.
Very interesting. But what I want to know is how to find a proper dial for my '56 Seamaster that an unscrupulous watchmaker replaced the dial with a generic Omega dial.
Very helpful thanks! one question, do all Vintage Seamaster models with plexi/hesalite glass have a small Omega logo in the middle? btw i own a Omega Seamaster 600 (1965)
Can you explain redials. Obviously if a dial is replaced with a different model dial that’s a problem. However if Omega replaces the original dial with the same model dial then that should not be a problem. Am I correct ? Do redials include repainting or professionally cleaning the original dial ? If the redial is accurately replaced or repainted , does that devalue the the watch ? Thank you
Redial or Refinished dial or restored dial all mean the same thing. A redial means the factory original finish of the dial has been completely removed. New paint, plating, and printing have been applied back onto the dial. This will take away the value of the watch. And since majority of watch collectors do not want a redial the value depreciation can be quite a bit.
Thanks for clarification. I can see why a purist would not want to strip down the dial and redo it. Do some watch companies have new original replacement dials ready to go ?
@@nelsona.7950 You're welcome. Unfortunately, if you send your watch to an authorized dealer nowadays they will send it off to get it redial as well. And regardless of how professional it is done, a specialist will still be able to tell.
Sssh!! You guys are making vintage Omega watches expensive! at 04:42 I see three issues. Strap isn't sitting right at six oc'clock position, Bezel missing as you said and finally that crown isn't fitting properly. To far out from the case. Badly replaced stem? Dodgy crown? Something not right and it sure as hell won't resist water stuck out like that! Good vid man and an enjoyable game
Thankyou very interesting I only got two right I do collect watches but mainly Seiko dive watches but I would love to hv ay Omega watch but in New Zealander thy are expensive and not many available. Thanks again man
@JP JP and you are a low quality individual. You're entitled to your opinion on the watches, but starting by calling someone an asshole because of their affinity for something you don't like just shows what type of person you are. Also, why check a video out on a channel by "Omega Enthusiast" if you clearly hate the brand?
JP JP you realize most luxury brands uses ETA movements, and that company is an Omega sister from Swatch group right? Even Patek, Breitling, Longines... these should be low quality for you.
Honestly, that is something that you may need to ask around from other Omega collectors such as those on the Omega forum or on Facebook. Hopefully someone can refer you to someone local or domestic within your country. I do all the restoration work myself so I would not know who is reliable. Make sure whoever that is doing your job needs to know the following. 1. No case polishing. 2. No dial refinishing 3. No hand removing and 4. No removing of one luminous to replace with new one.
Thanks for your videos ! As I'm not an expert as you regarding these vintage Omega, how can I learn to spot the issues on the watches ? There are lot of different versions of the same model so I'm wondering if it is possible to be 'sure' or at least confident that the watch and the parts are original ... Thank you
Hi there, it will take years to become an expert. It is something that you'll need to study on your own and keep it up day after day. At the moment, I can only produce these videos to help educate everyone the basic. Best is to buy a timepiece off somebody who really know their Omega and you'll be safe.
You can always visit my site for many selection. Or support me on Patreon and if you find something that you like elsewhere, you can always message me there to ask for my opinion.
Contemplating having my Speedmaster serviced. Its a little beat up since I wear it all day every day. I don' t want it " restored", just cleaned and regulated if necessary . How many hours does it take to do this job ? Omega boutique says 8 hours. The average RUclips video shows pros and amateurs doing it in 40 minute videos. Neither can possibly be correct . Please comment
To service a chronograph movement will take a few hours. Part of a proper service will require the case to be cleaned as well. There is no point of cleaning a movement without cleaning up the case. A RUclips video on restoring a Speedmaster watch may have taken the youtuber a day or two of editing. No body can service a chronograph in 40 mins. Also; while servicing the watch a watchmaker may encounter area that may need correction too. At the end of the day, whether it takes 40 mins or 8 hours to service the watch, the watch will still need 1-2 weeks of monitoring.
@@TimelessHistoryChannel Thanks for your reply. Ive started servicing some cheaper mechanical automatics. Seikos, Vostoks, Poljots etc, but have yet to tackle a chronograph. As my small collection has grown to include 2 Gyromatics, a Seamaster, several Bellmatics, a nice Mido Commander , several misc automatics and my Speedmaster Im needing the services of a pro. The only local shop I believed in moved out of state ( congratulations guys, Calif. is screwed), and 2 other shops talk complete crap. Its tough to spend $600 to service a watch I gave $275 for. just to clear things up, are you saying omega do not stamp anything with their logo or just gold? ive seen cases stamped inside with dennison and omega. i thought these were legit? i dont know, so any info would be great, thanks
Are you referring to the fake solid gold piece? If so, I am pointing out that this case is fake due to the hallmark and solid gold stamps are both located on the outside of the case back. Original Omega hallmark is located inside of the case back not outside.

Hi, I recently purchased a Seamaster ck 2846 -4-sc supposedly a caliber 501 from1956. The watch works well and keeps proper time but when I opened the caseback to check the movement (comparing it with an internet photo of a caliber 501) I found that the "501" engraving was missing in the movement... and that the engravings in the rotor were "17 jewels unadjusted" whereas in the picture from internet was "20 jewels" (not mentioning being unadjusted)... I guess that the rotor and the piece bearing the "501" were substituted for another compatible piece (maybe not omega)... my question is if you know of any other case like this and also how this affects to the value of the watch. thnaks very much for an answer... and keep the good (omega) content!!!
Hi Alberto, To me it sounds like you have purchased a married/franken watch. Omega caliber 501 should appear on the movement. Here is the difference between caliber 500 and 501. 500 caliber will appear on the train bridge where the wheels are located and the automatic bridge will be blank and the automatic weight will say 17 jewels. 501 caliber will NOT appear on the train bridge, but it will appear on the automatic bridge instead and will say 19/20 jewels on the automatic weight. Therefore, on your watch watch you have the main portion of the movement as a caliber 501 and the automatic system including weight to be from caliber 500. I do not appraise watches.
I'm just starting to look at vintage Omega watches. I've only purchased one vintage watch ever and it certainly was NOT on the level of an Omega (It was a 1961 Timex Marlin). Great video. Thanks. I feel smarter! 🤓
You're welcome! I hope you feel smarter too! :-P
I hoped that you have pointed to the issues .
Or show us an example for the opposite of the issue
Thank you for the input. This was an old video I made. If you watch my daily watch wrong videos I've include correct examples as well. :-)
Omega Enthusiast thanks for your Quick response .
And I wanna ask you can I request for a specific watch.
if you can find me a good condition one because you’re more experienced than me
I need your knowledge to choose one for me and I will buy it from you .
If you have the service please let me know and thanks a lot.
@@fawazal7341 Thank you for your trust. Unfortunately, due to my busy schedule I do not take special request. Best to just visit my website to view what are available or follow me on Instagram to watch my upcoming pieces.
Good luck on that my friend. Finding a genuine dial to replace is not as easy as you may think it is.
@@TimelessHistoryChannel Oh, I know it's going to be essentially impossible.
Excelente información,saludos desde Tampico Tamaulipas México
Very helpful thanks! one question, do all Vintage Seamaster models with plexi/hesalite glass have a small Omega logo in the middle? btw i own a Omega Seamaster 600 (1965)
Only the original crystal will have the little logo in the center. But fitting a generic without one is totally fine as long as the size is correct.
Is there any reference for vintage omega online with pics of model number and watch
unfortunately no.
Thanks again man
Thank you for the comment. I hope you will find an Omega in the near future. I've had a few clients from New Zealand in the past. :-)
Hey man i found an omega watch at a thrift store but it doesn’t say omega on ghe screen at all only the design that’s it can it be real by any chance
The dial font may have aged away is a possibility.
I got one: the cracked case one!
I'm extremely proud of myself
@JP JP and you are a low quality individual. You're entitled to your opinion on the watches, but starting by calling someone an asshole because of their affinity for something you don't like just shows what type of person you are.
Also, why check a video out on a channel by "Omega Enthusiast" if you clearly hate the brand?
JP JP you realize most luxury brands uses ETA movements, and that company is an Omega sister from Swatch group right? Even Patek, Breitling, Longines... these should be low quality for you.
How would you go about finding a good omega repair company.
Cool video, i have a Omega Constellation 168.019 with rare Linen dial for Sale :)
Very nice informeioin
Since I watched this, I could spot at least one missing screw in an Omega movement :D
That's just the start! Keep it up! Great stuff! :-D
Hi - bought an omega 471 - crown is not signed and the second hand is red - are either one of these original to this watch - thanks for reply - Ken
Hi Ken, sounds like either of them are correct. 471 should come with signed crown. But best to judge a watch when there is a photo to look at.
Hi Im wondering if you ever consider publishing a book of vintage Omegas?.. thank you
Hi, I wish I have the time to do that. But it may take forever for me to complete one due to my business schedule.
That was fascinating
Hi i have a vintage constellation with day and date. Is it scarce?
Cheers from south africa
Hi, it is not scarce. They were first introduced in the late 1960s.
Please help bro: I saw “automatic” letter font in a more cursive type, it is a fake?
Best to examine from a photo.
Hi, in your opinion which is the most reliable place to purchase vintage omega models?

Thanks for your reply.
Thanks again for your reply. Your videos are a great help.
@@shoelessb4515 ANytime! Whether the watch is cheap or expensive, the condition is most important to me. My first 5 years as a watchmaker was not easy. Wanted to quit several times. But my love for it is too much. So never give up. Expect some really difficult and headache repairs, but you will learn from those. Cheers!
just to clear things up, are you saying omega do not stamp anything with their logo or just gold? ive seen cases stamped inside with dennison and omega. i thought these were legit? i dont know, so any info would be great, thanks
Are you referring to the fake solid gold piece? If so, I am pointing out that this case is fake due to the hallmark and solid gold stamps are both located on the outside of the case back. Original Omega hallmark is located inside of the case back not outside.
@@TimelessHistoryChannel oh ok, thanks for commenting! im learning about vintage omega everyday. keep up the good work!
You're very welcome. My suggestion is best to learn by model to model. This is the best way to build up your knowledge. If you are trying to learn everything all at once it will be too much to take in since there are just too many vintage Omega model out there.
Kind regards

Can you value an omega constellation vintage for me
Sorry, but I do not appraise watches. The price of a vintage watch vary from the seller. I charge my watches according to my time and labour, fees, condition, and the lifetime special warranty that I provide which you can read about on my site.
Thanks I am an Omega fan and will continue to subscribe to your channel. Do you look at subscriber watches and I am the owner of my fathers Seamaster and I am curious to find out the calibre 565 ?? .
This message somehow went to spam file. Unfortunately, due to my busy schedule and the constant mass amount of messages I cannot help everyone. The best place to ask questions would be the Omega forums.
I felt like watching dora the explorer but for smart people
Im from kuwait and my first watch is omega over thirty years i like to have clean omega hand winding watch... thank you
damn.. due to this video I just noticed the bezel of a constellation pie pan is missing. Was just given as family legacy. Still beautiful
looks like it was common for watch repair ppl to "keep some parts" when servicing watches... jaja
Hello.I wanted to ask about vintage omega watches on ebay that are priced around 50-300 dollars. Why are they so cheap? Thanks
When you buy them you'll understand why they are so cheap. :-P
Omega Enthusiast not the answer I was looking for but thanks anyway
What the hell kind of answer is that? @@TimelessHistoryChannel
@@isfandyarsaeed7551 Best to stay away from a vintage Omega of that price range. 99% of the time you'll regret if you dare to buy a vintage Omega of that price range. Unless, you are willing to pay for the cost of repair later on then go for it. People are smart nowadays, and there is not going to be a nice example out there that no body will not bid on and let you buy it for 50-300 dollars. Do not get upset as I am just telling you the truth. If you have $300 in hand, better to buy a different brand that is in tip top condition that you will appreciate instead. I know my answer is harsh, but i've seen enough people regret because of inexperience. And that is why I make these videos. If you hate me now, that's totally fine. But you'll thank me later on. It's a stinky market out there, and most dealers are out there to just make a sale and ditch you with something bad. That said, do your research prior to buying a vintage timepiece. Because there are still good stuff floating around and there are still some honest dealers.

Hi Alberto,
To me it sounds like you have purchased a married/franken watch.
On this video I wished you would have shown what the watch should have looked like on ALL the instances you showed. I know this is two years old and maybe you've corrected that already. If so, I apologize. Which models of Omega would you recommend and should I go through a reputable dealer or buy on Ebay?
Yes, that is correct. If you watch all of my latest watch wrong and daily watch wrong series, I do include an image of what it should look like. You should go through my videos. Watch this one:

Too modern for me bud. Sorry about that. Don't want to give you false information on something I am not very familiar with.
I think i´m watching this to late. I already own 4 Omega,s , now i´m paranoid to look for imperfections or non-original parts. :(
You'll be fine. Enjoy what you already owned. :-)
