- Update: (10.22.23) Europe 2022 just received the best feature award for the 2023 SISFA Film Festival!
Last year some friends and I decided that we wanted to go on a trip out of the country. I had just quit my job and was full time in the freelance world, so I decided that now would be the perfect time for me to leave. The plan was to visit 8 Countries in 32 days. Netherlands, France, Switzerland, Italy, Germany, Czech Republic, Ireland, United Kingdom. I took my camera and filmed everything we encountered, the good the bad, everything. I came back with over 1TB of footage and spend the next 5 months editing it.
This film shows the raw nature of what it is like to travel with a backpack, what its like to travel on a budget and what really happens out there. When i set out to make this documentary it was extremely important to me that It was authentic and transparent.
I feel like travel is one of this things that is so highly praised online that people don’t know how they actually feel about it. Traveling isn’t just sunsets and cities. Often it’s also waiting at the train station all day, or getting heatstroke from lack of air conditioning.
when we travel we expect that it’s more magical than our real life. But we miss to realize that that traveling is still real life. There will be moments of peace and stress, moments of excitement and Loneliness.
Spending 35 days on the road in Europe was difficult. Like really difficult. I must have felt every emotion on this trip. wonder, anxiousness, Joy, Depression, humility, frustration, acceptance, loneliness, excitement, peace. I felt it all.
But Why did I feel these things? it's because traveling doesn’t stop real life, it actually adds a much more opportunity for inconveniences. But along with the inconveniences comes opportunity for new things.
when you travel you are forced to experience so many new things.
New things are opportunities to learn, and new things give us the ability to compare, which results in us thinking differently, and ultimately growing.

I did it at 30 and again at 50. Easily the best decisions I ever made. Europe was made for walking. There are hundreds of destinations, all are unique and fascinating. I consider myself blessed to have been given the opportunities. pro tip , 1 or 2 city, 30 days.
nahhhh, this shoulf be the standard for vlogs. DAMN dude! Looking at doing a similar trip soon and wanted some tips on my itnerary!
wow, that dude really does look like Nic Cage. Also... great video. I went backpacking with some friends about 20 years ago and we only had film cameras. I cherish those photos and my journal, I'm jealous of your amazing video to commemorate the trip. Well done.
I finally sat down to watch this work of art. The emotion in this is extremely powerful, I cannot imagine how everyone felt within themselves. Insane shots, always producing the highest quality videos. You are killing the game.
Only through 19 mins but loving the vid. The insane amount of work you put on this project!! Plus those Switzerland drone shots were nice. I can't wait to watch it al.
Watched it all. Travel can be tiring, but the memories last longer than tiredness. I was excited to see Gillian at the end. She is the best!!
this was beautiful man.... you''ll show this video to your kids some day.
YO, what a production! This video was much needed, also 20:40 dialogue was a vibe bro.
Bro that means the world. Thank you!
Excellent work Jerod, I assume it is no easy feat to shoot, produce and edit a feature length film and you have done it fearlessly. Engaging throughout and excellent story telling. Congratulations my friend. 🙏🏽🧡✌🏽
Thank you Inaiah! Means the world!
It's really cool watching you settle into your own voice. I feel like you can learn so much from the corporate side of the coin but you start to lose sight of yourself in the mix of it, I can see you starting to lean into your own intuitive style and I love that! Keep on creating and telling stories.
Thank you Stefan! Means the world
Amazing went on a trip but am asthmatic so cant hike uphills and in cold.. glad to have shared your journey. Thank you. I travelked solo for ages now in 2019 India Thailand Morocco then back to Italy took 2 week tiny griup trips in India as was going too slow lol. Then in covid 21 after recovery ran awayvto Turkey and Mexico lol❤
the drone shot 17:28 is out of this world
Dude, I wouldn’t believe it was real if I didn’t have the footage on my hard drive😂
Great video brother
Thanks man!
Just want to clarify, YOU DONT NEED TO BUY A RESERVATION FOR EURORAIL.
Great video, you have a bright future in the film industry. Only video I've found that really shows the true colors of travel. Take care guys.
Going on a three week European trip on my own in t-minus three months. I’m a 23 year old woman. Terrified and so so excited. Thanks for this :)) 💗
You will do great! I did Italy was two weeks for Christmas and it was AMAZING 🤩. I’m going back in August
bro. hello~thanks. really perfect picture!see ya!, 📹
Appreciate it mate!
Such great content! I'm looking into getting the Salkan Backpacker combo. Were you able to carry on the main pack on planes? Trying to avoid checking bags. Would love to hear your experience with the bag 🙏
Yeah mate! It was a perfect carry on. It would definitely be too big for a personal item, but I never had a problem with it as a carry on.
Need to cut down to 30l after my carry on got lost checked in.. minimal here we come.
