    aside from the NFT thing that I disagree with, it's pretty cool that you put out so much free and paid content that actually helps artists to learn this profession and achieve their goals, I think it's pretty noble, keep up the great work!

    Trent, you never miss to make me optimistic and motivated 🥰 After I burned out and quit my job 2019, I hope to monetize my art in 2022 for the first time. Tbh I'm really scared to work for money again (living off of savings for 2 years now, studying art on the road). I'm kinda confident that I can provide good service bc I was pretty good at being an employee and overachiever in the past lol. Buuuut the stress that comes with work... I hope I can handle it next year, mentally 🙏

      That's awesome, I'm sure you'll do great! I wish I could take a break from working but I can't sadly due to paying for school. I hope you kill it next year, we all could use a good one after 2021 lol

      @@tysonwilliamson4156 This is so nice to hear, thank you Tyson!! It was only possible for me bc I had a full career in another field for 8 years, half of that in a high paying position plus I lived frugally to save a lot of money. I grew up poor so I had to work and save before I could ever think about pursuing art. I can only now in my 30s live that kind of life, in my 20s it wasn't possible. We're all on different stages in our life, I bet you will be able to do what you love in a few years! Sometimes when we have to work for money although we don't love the job, we gain a lot of things nevertheless that will help us later in life. I wish you the best 🌟

    Towards the end of this year, I found myself experiencing Art Block. I wanted to create Art, but either I got too distracted by life or I just didn't have the motivation. Though I did find myself watching some new art RUclipsrs, especially those who work digital on an iPad, which I started doing in 2021 since I got an iPad Air and started using Photoshop for iPad. Definitely took the time to get use to it. I have just started drawing again and I trying out some new ways of approaching my art. I feel 2022 will a be year of discovery for me.

    Thanks for all you do Trent. Since I decided to commit to my art career mid 2020 I´ve been on such an inspiring journey, and your videos(and your brushes!) has been a constant companion, as well as tons of other business and self improvement related material. On one hand it seems like nothing has really happened, but on the other, all of the little things I’ve been doing are really starting to compound and open doors, and really changing my perspective on things. As your video for starting an art career in your thirties suggested, I am focusing my efforts on building my own thing, and also keeping in mind creating opportunity and work for others. I’ve set myself up with a part time job where I do both art and marketing, which still gives me enough money and a few days each week to work on my own thing, and doing marketing and art in the same business is something I hope I can really leverage in my own endeavours. I wish you the best for 2020, and to all the others hustling, I believe in us!

    Despite the current state of the economy, a growing number of young people are pursuing careers in the arts. The arts have a tangible impact on our society and culture. Yet, many artists still struggle to make a living from their work. In fact, according to recent studies, only 20% of artists who live in big cities can afford to work full-time as an artist.
    With the art market currently in a boom and the global art market expected to grow up to $58.6 billion in 2022, it is more important than ever that you find your path and not be discouraged by any part of this process.

    Happy 2022 Trent! Thank you for sharing your art and knowledge! There's one aspect of this buisness I feel is not talked about very much (at least from the point of view of independent creators) and that is how can you protect your work online. I've heard a lot from small creators (even some pros) having issues with people stealing their art for commercial use from the sites where they upload their portfolios (for example, the case Jonas Jödicke v Aaron Carter) . Can you give us some advice about how to prevent this? . I'd really like to hear your experience on this subject.

      Why don't you ask Arnold Schwarzenegger, Chiwetel Ejiofor or Taika Waititi? But seriously, some people are going to mispronounce any name that is even slightly abnormal. It's happened my whole life & my name isn't even that difficult. You could adopt a simpler name to make it easier on people, but then you lose some of what makes you unique. If your work is good enough, people will learn how to pronounce your name.

    I come here for a good mood and for the sunny personality of the author. I have been drawing for a long time, you can already say that always. I've never considered it a career. I don't believe in fairy tales about "fan support". It probably works for someone. But not for me. In Russia, intellectual property is more likely to be stolen than paid for.
    I teach the guys to understand the intricacies of a simple, like a cube constructor engine for creating games. And do you know what question I am most often asked? "How to gut someone else's game to steal content from it." I hope that there is enough space for all such questioners in the blacklist and in... hell )
    People don't want to hear about how to work. Give them "quick success", "life hack", "how to run on someone else's backs". Those who pretend that they can teach exactly this ("infogypsies, as we call them) have many times more audience and support.

    • @Pork80085
      @Pork80085 2 года назад

      Hello Ekaterina, from relatively more sunny Romania, I hope you see this comment. You should know very well that "work hard" and Trent's american mentality is a new thing in the former comunist states where for a long time hard work didn't really pay. It still doesn't pay as much unless you work remotely. And piracy has been and still is a double edged blade and a blessing for 90's kids like me who could barely dream of getting a pc let alone digital software/content. Think of gutting someone's work as a type of ... dunno, evil creativity that you could possibly turn around.

    • @EkaterinaSTADNIKOVA
      @EkaterinaSTADNIKOVA 2 года назад

      I had no problems with the purchase of licensed discs in the 90s. Another thing is that pirates in those days did localizations. And work in the USSR was paid perfectly. Considering that we did not pay for training, treatment, quality rest by the warm sea and much more. The problem is that my compatriots believe that the production of intellectual property is a simple hobby. If it's not a job at a factory or in an office, it's not a job, but a vacation. That's what they think in our country.

    I cant imagine art as a career
    Actually i can it only has 3 paths
    One is the most extremely likely no where from the void back into the void
    The second path is success that youre not prepared to deal with and gonna turn into ironic punishment drama and stress addiction
    And the impossible eveything gonna be fine no problems at all
    Or the forth which success comes at a price but manageable
