Great video, thanks so much for sharing! You should consider a voice over for your videos. Sometimes I'm not apt to watch a whole video if the topic is something I'm kind of familiar with. So what I do is play the video in the background while I'm working and I get great nuggets of wisdom this way. So having a voice over would make it easier to appreciate the videos. But either way thank you so much for sharing! 😊
As I said on IG, love your videos and your IG page. I am wondering if you are planing to do a video about winter protection for your maple trees ?! I am curious how do you protect them over the winter and also what are the avarage temperatures in your area ? Thank you.
another great vid, that deshojo is looking good, mail me one, cmon friend, ill pay 4 it, cant them here 🤤 ill send you back a gift pack too, but yeah wont it weaken the tree to take off leaves bot ready to be plucked, i thought they were generating buds for next year at this point
Thank you! At this point (late fall), you can remove them as all the existing buds are pretty much set for next year and get ready to clean up the trees for domarmcy :)

Not in fall, cuttings are taken in the summer when the spring growth has hardened off. If there's no leaves the cutting won't grow roots and will just die
Based on where I live (8b), my bonsai trees stay in an unheated greenhouse throughout the winter and do just fine. You may want to protect trees/roots from cold if you live in much colder climate.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yes, right now I am using my smart phone (Samsung) to make videos. No, I cant tell you how I get this amazing hands-free footage! Just kidding - I use an adjustable neck smartphone mount available on Amazon. It looks a bit funny but it works :)
Hi, I have a question about the wound paste! I can not read the signs on it suffer and also find no dealer here in Europe who offers this cut paste! Can you make me a translation of the label or provide a link with a source? Is this paste extra for maples, as there is this knead also for pines and once for deciduous trees? Thanks already for your great videos and I would be very happy about an answer! With botanical greetings from Germany
store.bonsaitonight.com/collections/supplies/products/cut-paste?variant=9011076005949 I use the cut paste Hi to seal bigger wounds & liquid one for smaller cuts. You can use it for both conifers and deciduous trees. 😁
@@MomijiEn Thank you for your quick reply! I will show this to the bonsai dealer I trust and he talks to his asian dealers! I have many other cutting pastes but I thought they were cool when I saw them in your videos! When I have them I will report back to you, thanks again for the answer! 😊
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. The duration of how long you leave the wires depends on when you wire & how quickly the tree is growing. If you wire them now, (late fall) you can leave them longer as the tree is not growing till Spring. During the growing season, I check more often (at least weekly) so wires don't bite into bark. If you wire trees in the spring, I expect that I'd need to remove them in 2 months or so (But it depends on how quickly the tree is growing and thickening the wired branches)
Based on my climate (8b), I do some structural pruning on my JM garden trees in the ground in late fall. For smaller bonsai trees, I do structual pruning / trunk chop in late winter before buds break (and no repotting) or summer.
Yes all winter into the spring. That's the advantage of wiring it now so it can stay there longer. You just need to be careful wiring as branches are hard and can break easily.
If you are looking for the liquid cut paste I am using in the video, Bonsai tonight carries it here: store.bonsaitonight.com/collections/supplies/products/cut-paste?variant=9011076005949 For other ones, you can find them on Amazon here: www.amazon.com/shop/wamodernbonsai?listId=1PZ9E6W9P7SJ7
This video is great, I'd love to hear you explain what you are doing, rather than read the subtitles. I find myself reading instead of watching what you are doing. Otherwise this was very informative.

Great work on those Maples I enjoyed your video! I've recently wired a few trees. How long generally until you remove the wires?

I really like your clips. #drbonsai
Thank you!!
what is the biggest cut you will make at this time? Just pruning or structural?
Based on my climate (8b), I do some structural pruning on my JM garden trees in the ground in late fall. For smaller bonsai trees, I do structual pruning / trunk chop in late winter before buds break (and no repotting) or summer.
"Push yourself, because no one else is going to do it for you."
How long do you leave the wire on? All winter into the spring?
Yes all winter into the spring. That's the advantage of wiring it now so it can stay there longer. You just need to be careful wiring as branches are hard and can break easily.
Do you sell any seedlings, seeds or prebonsais of maples?
I currently don't but am planning to in the near future!
