Nice instruction video which i've tried to copy. Unfortunately I've found that the TV interferes with the box's signal with the main box and router. Any tips on how to avoid this?
@@kiphakes i'm going to try it on the wall behind the TV and see if a few centimeters make the difference. I'm really keen to have it out of site after seeing these nice and clean (cable and box free) installations
Good vid i used the command strip but my tv back is pimpled a bit and command strip not stick well but the Velcro in the box sticks well on back if tv command on sky clip perfect
@@kiphakes thanks.. hope this is not too long winded ! Basically I’m having Sky Q installed in a couple of weeks, we have a touring caravan which I want to take sky box with me. In our previous caravan we had room for the old HD box and all the cables no problem however we have just changed van and have very little room in this one, Certainly can’t get 2 x coax cables any where near. My thoughts were to place the main Sky Q box at front of the van with power and coax from dish ( no tv ) and get the multi room box to fit on back of tv like you have which is in the middle of the caravan . Would this box just need HDMI and mains power ? We do have a router for internet, is this how the 2 boxes connect ? Many thanks
@@copperknob1971 that should work, although both boxes need to be connected to the internet, and I’m not sure if the main box would be happy working without a display though..
@@copperknob1971 good question.. I think if you want to download/ stream stuff you need a fairly good speed. I’ve never run mine from a motor home before so.. I dunno!
I’m looking to do the same but with the new BT Tv Box Pro. Unfortunately I cannot find a specific wall bracket for this type of TV box. Is there any universal brackets out there which would be compatible, if so would someone kindly post a link👍🏼:)
Great video and some nice tidy work . I am going to mount a tv on wall and did not know that you can get a 5 Metre power cable . Can i get a 5 metre to power my Q box .
So.. Older boxes have the power cable that goes directly to from the plug to the sky q box, newer ones have a 'brick' between the plug and the sky q box
Because the Command Strips are designed to be removed easily. If I change the TV, I won't have to battle to remove the Velcro. Plus I know that the Command Strips work well.
@Kip Hakes would you have any recommendations for a discreet extension lead or with trunking best way to hide wires with my TV mounted on wall and only plug above skirting board? Thanks
Firstly, this video is several years old now.. so the command strips are slightly different now.. rest assured I was following the correct instructions at the time. Also, regarding your other comment, I’ve had my Sky Q mini box like this for years, no signal issues for me 🙌🏻👌🏻
I thought it was quite a useful video. I have a TV wall mounted in my kitchen and have pondered as to how I might set up my SKY Q mini. Never occurred to me I might mount it on the back of the tv itself. Its a really neat (tidy) solution.
Saturday morning, nice cup of coffee, watching a whole video on Sky Q box mini …. And I don’t even have one!! God bless the teachers!!
If you want hours of random content that might not even be applicable to you, you’ve found the right channel! 😂
Worked great, thanks
Great video. I am going to order the bits you recommended! Thanks. Jon :)
You’re very welcome!
Fantastic video. Hadn't thought of this. Ordered the parts of Amazon while watching. Job to do tomorrow! Thanks 👍🏻
Glad it helped
Brilliant at last a good video on how to do things many thanks I will Subscribe 👍
Thank you!

Hi, great video, are you able to answer a couple of question I have regarding connections on Sky Q and the multi room box ?
I’ll try!

@@kiphakes thanks, do the boxes actually need a good speed internet connection or is it just a WiFi connection ?

Hi is this bracket you recommend ok on a plaster board wall with the correct plaster board fittings
Absolutely
Your a genius
Great video, very helpful 🤜🏾🤛🏻
Glad it was helpful!
Any thoughts about the heat some tvs kick out and the impact that heat may have on the Sky Box?
Hmm... Well my old TV used to be quite warm and I had no issues. I've found the Mini Boxes don't get super warm either.
can use ethernet to plug into sky minibox to tv for power?
Nope, you still need the power lead
What about heat build up from box & TV?
I've not had issue with it! The box doesn't get overly hot, and neither does the tv
if the command strips are that good ,why do i need a bracket?
So you can remove the sky box easily.. You don't NEED the bracket, it's just there for maintenance / cleaning
@@kiphakes ok thanks for your reply

hi where do you buy the plastic bracket from ?
Link is in the description buddy
It may be stupid question. But does the mini box have to be connected to the modem downstairs
It needs to be on the WiFi / ethernet to work.. That's how it receives a signal
@@kiphakes so it works with WiFi. I dont have to run a cable from upstairs to downstairs. Thank you
@@darrenclements1248 yup that's correct.

Yeah. Although some newer boxes have power bricks so it depends on that

Were did you get bracket from
Amazon. Link is in the description.
My problem is got 5 wires coming out sky box how u hide them
I’d recommend something like this amzn.to/3EUlybj
GENIUS 👌
Thanks!
Genius
Thank you!

I’ve used something like this in the past.. amzn.to/3UvaXL1 you can paint it and there are 90 degree angle pieces too
Good set up. If only those pesky mini's could be powered over USB it would be even better!
Why do you need the Q clip ? just put the command strips on the tv and sky box and fix straight on.
Yup.. But if you need to take the sky box off for any reason its a bit of a pain
I probably do that with my Sky Q mini Box what I got at my nans house
Why use the bracket? Just stick the box to the tv
Because if you want to remove the box for repair or replacement, it's a bit more of a faff. You could stick the box directly though, you're correct.
Fair point!
You just put the command strips together then stick on, it actually says this on the pack. What a backward way!
Firstly, this video is several years old now.. so the command strips are slightly different now.. rest assured I was following the correct instructions at the time. Also, regarding your other comment, I’ve had my Sky Q mini box like this for years, no signal issues for me 🙌🏻👌🏻
Sky don't recommend this. It interferes with the signal
Sky boxes need ventilation
This method will fry your components
Well.. It's been like this since, well, the Sky Q launched and its still working.. So no.. It's fine. 😊
Did this and heat did fry my tv after 18 months :(
He is a waste of my time
Yet you found time to comment.. Bless you.
