Dharmendra in one action film after the other in the 1970s'. This time it is Raja Jani (1972) with Hema Malini & Prem Nath (1926-1992). Dharmendra was once considered one of the most handsome men in the 1960s'- days when he did films like Aayee Milan Ki Bela (1964) his only role as a villain opposite Jubilee Kumar (Rajendra Kumar) & Saira Banu, Phool Aur Patthar (1966) which made him a star in 1966. Mohammed Rafi (1924-1980) did some wonderful music for him- "Mere Dushman Tu Meri"- Aaye Din Bahaar Ke (1966), "Kya Miliye" & "Yeh Dil Tum Bin Kahin Lagta Nahin Hum Kya Kare" from Izzat (1968), "Dekha Hai Teri Aankhon Mein Pyar Hi Pyar Beshumar"- Pyar Hi Pyar (1969) with Vyjanthimala. It is said that they did this film without having being introduced to one another!!!! In the 1970s' Kishore Kumar took over so he lip synched "Gir Gaya Jhumkar" from Jugnu (1973), "Gaadi Bula Rahi Hai" from Dost (1975), "Yeh Dosti Hum Nahin Todenge" from G.P. Sippy's Sholay (1975)- one of three (3) major blockbuster films of 1975- the other two being Jai Santoshi Maa (1975) and Yash Chopra's Deewaar (1975) where Shashi Kapoor won the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor. "Hum Bewafa Hargiz Na The" from Shalimar (1978). Dharmendra owes part of his success not only to the heroines (Mala Sinha, Hema Malini, Meena Kumari) but also to the playback singers Mohammed Rafi (1924-1980) & Kishore Kumar (1929-1987). Along the way he got into politics/ somewhere along the line I want to say he is somewhat retired (after the Yamla Pagla Diwana series).
