  • The Slaw’s spend the weekend in the Peak District in Helga their Hobby motorhome.
    Staying at Laneside Caravan Park in Hope.
    Evening meal and drinks at The Old Hall in Hope on the Friday.
    On Saturday we embarked on a nine mile walk with our Lhasa Apso dogs Billy and Jessie.
    The walk took us from Hope to Lose Hill.
    Along the great ridge via Back Tor and Hollins Cross to Mam Tor.
    Then back down the Broken Road and along Odin Stitch to Castleton.
    A Jolly afternoon was had at The George Under a marquee in the rain.
    The food and beverages were excellent and the staff were very attentive.
    It was a dark muddy walk from Castleton through the fields to Hope and back to the motorhome.

    The extra miles added on to your estimate are from all the staggering and swaying on the way back from the pub! 😂😂

    Lovely video. I wish I could still do those walks. Some fabulous scenery in the peaks. We are heading that way in the summer. We stayed at Laneside in a tent in 1981 when I had my first car, a Hillman Avenger and the site was just a fields with a couple of unmade roads through the middle of it. The stream near the water treatment plant at the bottom of the site gave us trouble one night when it rained heavily 🤣 Great memories, how things have changed 👍🏻🚐 Trev

      @mrsslaw9242 3 года назад +1

      @@mrsslaw9242 I don’t remember going up the pass. I know we went to Speedwell Cavern on our first trip and got wet from the drips on the ceiling. Sue and I didn’t get married until 1982. I recall one of our first holidays together was in 1979 on a Suzuki GT250 in the Lake District. We pitched a 2 man tent in a dark, wet field in Cockermouth. Then moved to Limefit Park near Ambleside. I had brown hair and no money 🤣🤣 Trev

    Hi from Canada.
    Thanks so much for this adventure too. I looked at those slippery wet stones and mud on your walk. Can I suggest walking sticks to steady yourself on your hikes. I use mine all the time.
    Loved your series on the NC500. You have inspired me to make the same adventure. So Sign me up for your guide when you finish it. I heartily encourage you to do so. No doubt it will be a powerful tool when we venture forth.

We also checked that we were also on Laneside campsite that weekend. We stayed 14th to the 16th of May and did the same muddy walk back but we did it in the daylight. So close to a slaws mug dam it!! Were from Roberttown.
